I got the M&P 5.7 and could not be happier. The Smith comes with a mag loader, use it to save your thumbs. The M&P 5.7 is the best bang for the money in my mind. 👍
Same to me. I like the 90's/early 00's curvy/flowing/futuristic designs that everyone seems to hate. I don't like how everything looks very similar and blocky and often mismatches now.
I was about to purchase a Mk3 FN 5.7 until I saw the S&W in my new gun magazine. But I'm not convinced the S&W is a better pistol. But I am holding off purchasing the FN for a bit to see other comparisons. Good job on your comparison.
The FN is way overpriced and the trigger is awful. The SW not thrilled about stainless barrel should have been chrome lined. My first mag I had ftf but after that nonissues
Great review. Just bought the Smith and Wesson haven't had a chance to shoot it. The mag spring is heavy your correct fully loaded is harder than most to load mag. The spring will wear in hopefully but it's not a ig deal to me. Great pistol!
It depends on philosophy of use, duty or war gun definitely going with the FN. Target shooting or around the farm the Smith would be ok. First choice would be the PSA Rock, it’s in my humble opinion a duty or war capable gun and if you get a blemished one right now they are $399 for a threaded, optic ready with slide cuts. Oh yeah, free shipping too.
Yep have had nothing but problems with mine. Second PSA purchase that I am completely disappointed in. And my last. Rock is a perfect name for this firearm because all you can do is throw it at your attacker once it jams
How much of a difference was there in recoil impulse? I'm sure the S&W probably had less flip due to a lower bore axis but I wonder if it also felt softer. The Ruger definitely felt harsher in my hands than the FN.
I have all 3. The mp57 definitely lowest recoil would say ruger is also flat. The fn is a bit snappy but still manageable. The mp57 rapid Fire very good
I’ll take the proven and no problem fn! That magazine issue on the Smith and Wesson is ridiculous, they should’ve seen that and taking care of it. I haven’t shot the Smith & Wesson or held one yet, but I would venture to say if it’s anything like their firearms the last 10 to 15 years, their quality control has gone downhill and I would not trust the longevity of it!
I will say this for S&W, if you watch Garand Thumbs torture videos, the S&W M&P usual wins most of those. They are more reliable than even the almighty Glock.
@@gearrunner Thanks for the reply. I have a question for you. On the Wilson combat EDCX9mm, you mentioned in one of your videos that it was shooting low so you had to adjust the site all the way up. I was reading comments on other videos last night on the Wilson combat EDC 9 mm pistol and read a lot of comments were people had the same issue with the gun shooting about 2 inches low. Many of them contacted Wilson and had to send the gun either back or Wilson sent them a replacement front or rear site to remedy the problem. Also many of them received a red fiber optic site instead of a green one. Most of these Comments and videos were from two years ago so I would like to know if you had any experience with any of this or do you know anything about any of this? Do you think they have resolve the problem at Wilson combat for the ones that are out now and available to buy?
B.S. on the Smith 57 grips. The Smith is a superior firearm to the FN. PERIOD! The magazine comes with a loader; try it, you might be able load the mag!
Man aren’t you just a little smith fan boy! Also I have tried the loader. Smith 5.7 magazines are junk and tons of people have had issues with them. Hope that didn’t hurt your feelings to much!
@0:30 NO my man! Incorrect, the FN is WAY COOLER LOOKIN. What the holy hell is wrong with this guy to say the smith looks better!? Pff, no way idiot! It shoots pretty good, but it's def not as sexy as the original FN! Completely wrong opinion my guy!😂
Smith and Wesson will replace them for free and send the shipping labels. Sent mine off yesterday. Bullets jam into the mag which is why it's so hard to insert a full mag.
I know, I’ve used it. Would it be fair to compare one magazine using a loader while not the other? I keep my reviews apples to apples not apples to oranges
All this ammo bs it’s expensive . Go buy some good 9mm rounds federal hst or gold . They are more than the 5.7 198lf which is way better round than any 9mm
Have you seen Garandthumbs 5.7 video. He showed how useless 5.7 was for defense. Plus I can buy 9mm HST for around $34 per 50 rounds here. I probably have 20 boxes or more.
I just got one, put a couple magazines through it suppressed with a sparrow can. Great gun! I’ve had a Gen 2 FN for a while and don’t care to shoot a much. This one is much more shootable in my humble opinion, PSA knocked it out of the park with this one. Best part, it was a blemished one $399 free shipping, $15 ffl, $28 tax = $442 out the door and can’t find any flaws on it.
I got the M&P 5.7 and could not be happier. The Smith comes with a mag loader, use it to save your thumbs. The M&P 5.7 is the best bang for the money in my mind. 👍
I agree I got it for my first gun and it's just amazing.
The ammo has come way down. I just bought 900 rounds for .48 cent per round including tax and shipping.
Awesome review. The S&W has been of interest to me lately. I have never shot the FN or S&W. Thanks for the thorough review and honest impressions!
I think the FN looks better, like something futuristic.
It definitely looks more futuristic
I think it looks like a toy.

The FN trigger is crisp but too heavy. The slide is also not very corrosion resistant as mine rusted
I'm getting the FN 5.7 MRD in a few weeks and will be posting a comparison between the 2 in the next few weeks.

I cared not about owning any five Sevan pistol, until the Smith & Wesson came out with a more Innovative design that I just could not ignore.
I really like the Smith
Me too lol. Picking mine up when it comes in this week.

My Rock 5.7 sucks. Sent it back, still jams a lot.
Yep have had nothing but problems with mine. Second PSA purchase that I am completely disappointed in. And my last. Rock is a perfect name for this firearm because all you can do is throw it at your attacker once it jams
M&P looks best out of the 5.7s in the market, just sexy!
I agree 👍
You just have to break the mag in on s&p was having issues until the spring got loose no problem after
I’m getting me one of these M&P 5.7 asap
5.7 ammo is down to about $24 a box now online
Better question…who’s cheaper lol
Smith all day
Excellent reviews. Thanks
Upgrade your FN to the MRD platform then do a comparison to M&P 5.7
It's a toss up out of the Smith and the Ruger, but I think you sold me on the Smith! Great video
Smith has a way better trigger and less recoil.
Can you put a fn clip in a smith and Wesson 5.7
How much of a difference was there in recoil impulse? I'm sure the S&W probably had less flip due to a lower bore axis but I wonder if it also felt softer. The Ruger definitely felt harsher in my hands than the FN.

I notice that the S&W had a lot less mussel flip.
Nice comparison. I never cared for the looks of the FN either, but it does look like a decent shooter. 👍👍
It is a good shooter
I would have never bought the FN, way too expensive. Getting my S&W this week with S&W's $75 rebate.
If I never hear "coupla hundred rounds" ever again, it'll be too soon😅
A lot of videos showing problems with the magazines made me hold off on buying one
I feel like all smith and Wesson pistols do that. If you have the max rounds it’s hard to put in.

Not me screaming slam it home!!!! But I will be buying the S&W M&P 5.7 later today
I had the same thing. If the magazines are loaded and the slide is forward, it must be seated in a manly fashion. Manly, I say.
If the gun is shooting left adjust the sights?
Where did u find your grip sleeve?
The first gens are the best looking n working imo the are become a collectors peice

Mines too. Jammed a lot, but i am a novice.
You say 5.7x28 is pretty quiet overall ? Wow, I could not disagree more. I think it's louder than 9mm.
That slide lock on the fn is a bitch. I don’t know why but you really have to attack that thing to use it.
Better to get General Mills than the great value version 🤣
Wow Smith and Wesson made better pistol for half the price
