Great Video. I think you touch some key points in this video. One of them is risk. Padel is a percentage game, specially at higher levels. It is about reading the point, and waiting for the opportunity. Another is preparation. The better the preparation, the more options you will likely have with your shot. There is also the ball watching tip. One of the things we practice a lot, is that we know the court, so we don't really have to be looking at the ball when playing, we watch the hitting player, his position, and the ball in reference to the court. That helps determine what they are going to do and where we need to put ourselves even before they hit the ball. As you mention towards the end, hiding your shots becomes key, a short preparation helps with this, but still, options are always limited. Knowing the player will help you determine what are their options. Knowing their options will help you anticipate their shots and be better prepare before they even hit the ball.
Keep up the good work Sandy!

I really tried to watch my opponents in yesterdays friendly match, but I think I worry/thinking to much about my own stroke that I don't really have time to process everything that's happening on the other side of the net. A confidence thing I guess. I suppose I have to get some other basics down to muscle memory, and then I will be easier so analyze the opponents.

@@peterjohansson1524 If you are having trouble dealing with too much information about what's going on in the court. Then I would suggest that you just focus on what you can control, and that is, hitting a good ball. When I say good, I don't mean a winner. I mean focus on the ball, your body, your preparation and hitting a low risk shot. Basically you are passing the problem of "passing the ball over to the other side" to the opponent. By avoiding making "unforced errors", you will become a more consistent and better player. Let your opponents deal with winning the point, and you can focus on keeping the rally going until you get a clear opportunity to finish the point.

@@joesepu Thanks again for a great answer. I will keep my priorities... Low risk shoots, good contact of the ball and keep my own misstakes to a minimum.

Video idea: take footage from a game and pause it and give us time to analyse what options is available for the player.

Question: How much do you watch the opponent(s) versus the ball, after the opponents shot has been made?
For example in preparation for a bajada, or do you rely on communication from your partner?
By the way, excellent video once more Sandy. I've learnt so much padel from your channel, so a big thanks please keep making these =)

Hey Peter. As a general rule, you keep an eye on the opponent to get a general idea on where they are. Use your peripheral vision, but your focus should be on the ball at all times until after you make contact to ensure you are contacting the ball properly.
When playing balls coming from a lob, the same thing applies. First prepare your racket, get into position and decide what you want to hit. Get a general idea on where your opponents are, and rely on your partner to guide you about their position. If you have a silent partner, take a minute between points or games and ask tell him what information you need from him when getting lobbed. The more experience you gain with each game, the easier it will be to anticipate what your opponents will likely do when they try to lob you. They might come to net, they might stay back. It's a partners game, and communication is key at all times.
I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reply. I'll be happy to help.

@@joesepu Excellent, thanks for your detailed reply 👍.
It's the answer I was hoping for as my ballcontact has some work left, and don't want to look away from it.
I've got much to left to learn, and appreciate all tips. Have a great day

@@peterjohansson1524 It is very common to take your eyes off the ball a split second before making contact. I would say, hold your head/eyes where you contacted the ball just for a tad longer. Slowly you will notice where you are actually contacting the ball, and make small adjustment from there. So check where your eyes really are at the contact point. Make sure you aren't looking at where you want to send the ball. Best of luck!

Why is hitting the ball at an angle over the net into the fence part close to the net not a winning tactic?
    Isn't that automatically a winner?

    • @ThePadelSchool
      @ThePadelSchool  2 роки тому +1

Correct, it can be a winning tactic, but it can be very risky.
