I can't describe how informative your videos are. The way you explain everything on such an exponential level is inspirational! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience with us.
Possible to do a texturing from Substance Painter? Still a little wobbly on how to take an asset with a UV from Maya into Substance, paint and texture, and then how to wire up the created maps into the various channels in the various shaders in Maya. GREAT WORK BTW!
Something with displacement maps in Substance then Maya would be great. I understand how normal maps work but I work more in film and broadcast versus games
Traditionally, you could always texture anything in Photoshop. Substance does a very good job as well, as long as you set up your project correctly (UVs and ID maps) :)
Understanding how to do it the Traditional way is good, but, I much prefer using Substance. I'll be sure to watch your videos sometime in the future. Thanks. @@AcademicPhoenixPlus

Displacement! I'll go over it in a future video. :)
Is it possible to texture a modern complex model in photoshop? Is it practical or is substance a much better choice?
Traditionally, you could always texture anything in Photoshop. Substance does a very good job as well, as long as you set up your project correctly (UVs and ID maps) :)
Thank you!
THANK YOU!
You're welcome!
Greatly helpful, but what about uv mapping objects with multiple faces i.e. more complex models? Does the same method apply?
Yes, absolutely! Here is a playlist on how to UV more complicated pieces. I hope this helps! ua-cam.com/play/PLbxLlP-Vyt-9-XMm4O98EaYu1c7A8Pivi.html
Seems like a lot of work if you have to process the Rough, Normal and all the other maps through photoshop as well... There has to be an easier way...
That's the traditional way of doing it. Check out Substance 3D Painter ua-cam.com/video/gp6YggcqnQ0/v-deo.html
