Wow, I can't tell you how awesome this is. Lighting is a topic wrapped in black cloth and hidden in a box and dumped at the bottom of the sea, so thank you for shedding a light!!
Wow, you made the best lighting tutorial ever. You should start taking donations! I'm sure people would appreciate your efforts. You were able to cover more than my lecturer at uni
This is by far one of the best tutorials I've seen in years. Not that other people post stuff that is not worth my time. It's that this was good. Hats off!
Brent you're a lifesaver, I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out why my area light is so weak it's barely visible, simply turning off normalize and voila it actually finally works properly, always the way - one little tick box.
Thank you so much for this tutorial, my professor talked about this for four hours over complicating it and you were able to make it so much clearer. Once again thank you so much
Honestly, mate, this video is amazing! My Uni gives me these others based on older versions of Maya which do an alright job, but these show a level of artistry way beyond those! I look forward to seeing more of your work as time goes on, especially if there are more videos on lighting. Keep being awesome!
Thank you so much !!!! I always thought arnold had just the intensity , color and exposure options, you really helped me !! And the lighting guide is useful for drawing too , thank youu ! You won a subscriber
amazng videos! will save it for later, i want to try getting some bsics to render my animatio shots without depending much on others. this is awesome! I'm just having an issue...all of my materials are arnold materials, but I can't manage to get my character casts chadows on the surface she is on.
Fantastic! I am coming from Blender to Maya and boy this is helpful man! The ease with what I can now plan the scene with that light blocking... ow boy, loving it. Thank you so much! I can imagine youre a busy person but hope you will show some Maya tips in the future still. Have a good one!
hi Brent, how are you ? your tuts are really amazing,,,,,,,,,,,, can you make a tutorial on making a realistic glass that has fingerprints and smudges on it?(in any software and rendering engine)....................... I am really trying it hard but not getting that realistic smudgy look................... my render looks kind of powder been added on top of glass but not that smudgy look. thanks, Bhuwan sharma
Great tutorial Brent! I noticed you turn off your Render as you make changes to the light. Is there a reason for this? Like to save on memory or Maya's stability.
Thanks Cheyne! I turn it off and on for stability. Sometimes I've noticed that Maya will crash when I'm toggling settings with IPR active. Just a habit I suppose.
Very very useful, thank you so much :) Tho I couldn't upload the object downloaded from MyMiniFactory to Maya. Could you suggest me how to do it? Thank you very much
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! i tried to download the burst of david but for some reason my maya wouldn't let me, could you tell me if you downloaded it in a different way?
Yeah, Arnold is really an incredible renderer. Very easy to get up to speed and get good results. I've heard that Arnold is developing an XPU pipeline soon. Which would be a combination of GPU and CPU
Thank you for for your tutorial. When it comes to a website, do I have to pay if I want to import the file into maya? I downloaded it In free and maya couldn't read stl file..T.T
Are you using Arnold renderer? Also how fast it updates may depend on your computer hardware. As far as renderview placement, there is some guides online on how to modify your setup. Clicking through panels etc.
Hey man, hello. So I tried downloading a file from MyMiniFactory and it's stl download, which I can't open up in maya? How should I get the object inside of maya if it's STL?
Man this really really makes me wanna render my stuff in arnold but I just can’t get my materials looking right in arnold just as they do in substance. I’ve been avoiding figuring it out and just rendering my shit in marmoset, but I really wanna learn how to render in Arnold properly. It has something to do with color space maybe idk. Does anyone have an idea what I’m talking about? Would really appreciate it

That's a clean one, what are the best render settings to avoid noise in the scene especially when there's fur elements in the scene?
Thanks for sharing, great video.

Adjust the samples by incresing them

@@BrentLeBlancCG Thanks
Amazing video, I have subscribed and look forward for more amazing videos from you.

So blocker can be used for creating light beams. But is there any other way to create light beam?
You mean a light beam with volume? You would first need fog for the light to illuminate
Hello there, cool video. Could you explain how you set the parameters for the rendering? thanks
Hey Carlotta,
I'll try to explain how rendering parameters in the next video. However, I'm not doing anything overly complicated.
Cheers!
Brent Le Blanc thanks a lot, sorry I’m a self taught so everything is difficult for me cause I have no teachers 😅 but thanks 😁😁😁
Great tutorial :)
Appreciate it Francesco!
can i ask something why when i download the sculpture the file tell me when i import it in maya its unrecognized ?
www.myminifactory.com/scantheworld
Make sure you have in your Maya addons .sti enabled
Thats a functional tutorial.
saved me, thanks!
How are you using the myminifactory meshes in maya. All I find are .stl files that Maya doesnt open?
You need to make sure that you have the stl extension active in your Maya Addons
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! i tried to download the burst of david but for some reason my maya wouldn't let me, could you tell me if you downloaded it in a different way?
Thanks! Make sure you activate STL addon in your plugins.
Impressive video!
Thank you, Impressive Scan Library! :D
Thanks for this tut 🔥💛
No problem. Thanks for watching!
I was underestimating arnold for a long time. Btw I've heard they are making ArnoldGPU. Any options for upgrade from verion that I got with my Maya?
Yeah, Arnold is really an incredible renderer. Very easy to get up to speed and get good results. I've heard that Arnold is developing an XPU pipeline soon. Which would be a combination of GPU and CPU
Hey "Unrecognized error" even after enabling that STL plugin idk whats the issue , even after restart -Maya 2020 student version
Hmm, not sure tbh
thanks.. very BIG thanks
Clean tutorial .. wp
Link is down for the Lighting Guide.
Aww, that's unfortunate. Any film photography works, you can look at cinematography for film as well as great reference.
Really good.
Great ! Thanks 🙏
Thanks Amin!
In my Maya (2020 version) I don't see the 'New Group' option. Do I need to enable it anywhere?
Not sure if this is still available.
Nice. But I cant access your lighting guide image :(
Oh, thats a shame. It's likely the website stopped hosting the image.
@@BrentLeBlancCG How can I have that image sir?
thyank you for this tuto! may i know your system config?
could you upload the scene? could we use it as a prefab?

great bro
I love making 3D model's !!
amazing work
really thank you for being in the world 😂😂👍👍👍
It's my pleasure
That green 'toy' at 0:32 doesn't look very safe - the base isn't as wide as the rest of it so it could get 'lost'.
I think someone is trolling the scan library :X
