- If you've forgotten your Windows login password and your bootable C drive is encrypted by BitLocker without a readily available recovery key, renaming files in the System32 folder is impossible. This tutorial offers an alternative solution.
How to find a Bootable Drive?
diskpart
list volume
or
bcdedit
Click on the command prompt, and Run As Administrator
Type the following command:
manage-bde -unlock D: -Password
Enter the password to unlock this volume:
or
manage-bde -unlock D: -pw
Enter the password to unlock this volume:
manage-bde -off D:
manage-bde -status D:
Note: D is the bootable drive in this case.
An error occurred (code 0x80070057) due to Windows RE status was disabled
To address this issue, we can type this command reagentc /enable

while attempting to remove bitlocker encryption from my external hdd of 1tb, which was taking huge time and when it has completed 50% I had to leave that system due to time boundation. Now that system is not accessible. And when I attempt to continue that external disk in another system it shows: "error recovering disk G: A recovery key was not found on this drive. you aren't supposed to remember it. you are supposed to save it to your Microsoft account. (which is by far the safest option )
the recovery code is very long and pretty much impossible for anyone to remember.
Never save the keys on the drive which has Bitlocker enabled. if you don't have the recovery code then you are pretty much done for.
I believe there are softwares out there that can decrypt your drive but I do not have much knowledge of them, I found one called passware kit might be able to decrypt it. but it's very expensive..

When I get to opening the prompt window it doesn’t go to prompt. It’s another blue window that asks for recovery key ID or Skip this drive. I skipped just to see what happens. It opened the prompt but the drives look to small to load windows. So I’m guessing it’s the drive I skipped?

In my windows 10 I bitlock my disk and place the bitlocker recovery key in Pen drive. After some time i reset my windows 10 and install windows 7 due to my personal issue. And i forgot to De-encrypt my drive.

What do you mean User Passwords? The normal password I typed going into the computer? and if so what If I do not have any password?
He’s not referring to the normal password to unlock windows. Rather one of the two bitlocker passwords. For this tutorial to work u must know the one that you created, while the other password(recovery password made up of just numbers) can be ignored.

Go to uef settings after pressing esc and click restart. Go to security then ptt and check off the box and click apply and bam it’ll work.

Hi Brother, You can use a bootable Windows 10 or 11 installation media to access Command Prompt (CMD) via Shift + F12 during Windows Setup. This allows you to format your drive using CMD. OR you can continue the Windows Setup for reinstalling Windows if you think your data recovery is not critical.
What is the bit locker user passwords that you mention? Is the windows password or what do you mean? For me it doesn’t work from that point

Step 1 In Bios Go to boot options, and then select secure boot to disable . You save it and exit Bios.
Step 2 In Bios Go to boot options again, change secure boot to enabled , clear all secure boot keys, remember to load your PC factory default . You save it and exit Bios

one more thing once you do this , you need to login to your pc /laptop and turn off bit locker option.
because if you dont it will come back upon reboot , and you will have to do it all over again.
It’s not letting me put in the password. Keyboard doesn’t work what do I do?

The password failed to unlock
