Ideally you have file history backup turned on also. ****Overall Advice:**** There is no good answer to this, except maybe move to a different operating system. You can use info in the video disable BitLocker, but some subsequent event may still activate it on your system. My best advice is to get a MS outlook account & use it for your login. Activate bitlocker and store the key. Why? A known state for the computer is better than an unknown state. If you don't log into Windows with a MS account, you could inadvertently be using a MS service and MS will activate Bitlocker. At that point you won't know where the key is located. Crazy hugh? Thank you MS. In theory using a local account could (not guaranteed ) keep BitLocker off the computer. ****What you need to know about a MS account:**** You may have a Microsoft (MS) account & not know it. If you signed up for any cloud services (Like Teams) with MS you would have linked a MS account or if your work/school linked you to any cloud based services this would have activated Azure AD tied to a MS account. This account could hold your key. Please take this seriously & check your system to see if Bitlocker is activated. It will only take one system update, hardware change, or bios update to activate this potential blue screen of death on your computer. Your computer could be tied to someone else that used a MS account on the computer. Or any other MS account service. Normally MS doesn't allow Bitlocker to become activated unless the OS has used a MS account on the computer in some way. Please review if possibly someone else used a MS account on your computer. Good info on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/WindowsHelp/comments/pr3rqr/bitlocker_has_been_activated_i_have_no_recovery/ A "Microsoft account" is a very vague term. One account will allow you access to certain Microsoft services, whereas another will not. How do you check this? It's used by services like BitLocker drive encryption, Windows Hello, and others, to securely create and store cryptographic keys, and to confirm that the operating system and firmware on your device are what they're supposed to be, and haven't been tampered with. @AndreiSimion-hw6qr 8 months ago In one of your previous clips you said they tpm will give you extra safety. I have one drive encrypted without tpm and it says that I don't have tpm 1.2 enabled. Went to bios (asus) and I had the discrete tpm option enabled. The other option is ftpm and when selected it prompts me a message about 2.0 amd agesa. By enabling this will get the 1.2 in windows? Will there be any compatibility issues? I am on win 10 @CyberMedics 8 months ago First thing is to make sure you have a local backup of all data & a cloud backup. Ideally you have file history backup turned on in windows also. Here are useful links for your review: premioinc.com/blogs/blog/differences-between-ftpm-vs-dtpm learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/information-protection/tpm/tpm-recommendations support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/update-your-security-processor-tpm-firmware-94205cbc-a492-8d79-cc55-1ecd6b0a8022 learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/information-protection/tpm/trusted-platform-module-overview Here is my conclusion from reviewing this. FTPM enabled will give you the best chance of having the highest level of TPM protection on an Window 10 computer. This allows the manufacturer to upgrade BIOS firmware TPM. Beginning with Windows 10, version 1511, TPM 1.2 and 2.0 are supported. Short answer: I believe enabling the FTPM will give you a minimum of TPM 1.2. There may be a BIOS update that would allow you to run TPM 2.0. Please validate all your Bitlocker keys, because any of these changes could activate the Bitlocker Key recovery. @CyberMedics thanks for your kindness. do you recommend removing the recovery key for better safety? (eg I don't think i will ever forget my password and I find it pointless having a recovery key when it could decrease the safety) Reply @CyberMedics 8 months ago @AndreiSimion-hw6qr Bitlocker encryption is implemented in conjunction with TPM to enhance the security of your computer. It is a layer of protection at the hardware level that protects against cyber attacks. I don't recommend turning it off.
It is terrible. Please consider sharing a video with others to prevent them from having this problem. Thank you for commenting and supporting the channel. Are You Now using a local account or still using a Microsoft account to log into your Windows operating system?
This was a great video! I really don’t mind Bitlocker, but I don’t like how it is set up. My kid has had two different Dell computers that ended up locking him out with Bitlocker. In neither case did he intend to set it up. But in the first case, we actually had to send it back to the manufacturer. No process should be so lacking in redundancies as to require that. I’m manually turning it off every PC I have as soon as I get home.
Thank you for the feedback. Hope you gave the video a thumbs up which supports us helping others. Couldn't agree more, that this is implemented poorly. Anytime you do something without the users permission shows complete contempt for the user. Please consider sharing our content with family, friends & colleges. I have Windows 11 Home installed on my system The previous step using "manage-bde -status" found Bitlocker was not installed on any of my drives. The response I got from: manage-bde -protectors -get c: was the following: No key protectors found. Does that mean I definitely don't have Bitlocker installed at all? Should I be concerned about the next big update where MS is going to try to install Bitlocker and encrypt my hard drive? How do I stop that from happening?
It means that Blocker is not active on your system. It does not mean it will not be engaged in some future update. Some people recommend that you not use a Microsoft account for login in order to prevent Blocker from being implemented. The problem I have with that is, at some future update you may participate in a Microsoft service that could activate Blocker on your machine, please see our comment for additional information.
So when you activate your OEM Laptop or Tower System (1st time OOBE activation) ... Activate with a MS Account? Thus avoiding this "BTL Blue Screen" KEY Recovery issue? Alot of UTube Techies advising to AVOID the MS Account activation and just create a "Local User" account. So which option do you suggest?
Most hard core techies would advocate just creating a local account & thus potentially avoiding the whole potential BitLocker nightmare. While this might work, I encourage you to read through the many comments on this video, where users said they never created or thought they had a Microsoft account and were still hit by BitLocker. The concept of Bitlocker is good (data at rest is protected), but the way MS has implemented it is poor! I decided to create the MS account, and secure my BitLocker key. It is a known state. BitLocker is active ...and I have the key. I further disabled the windows hello pin, secured my MS account with a biometric HW key. This forces the computer to have to authenticate the key w/fingerprint to unlock the drive/computer system. Pretty cool I think, but don't use YubiKey's bio key (inferior implementation). Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/SKDkTg3YNeU/v-deo.htmlsi=Lt5R2Num_5ncuI-z Would appreciate you viewing & commenting on the video.
I got locked out of my own device because of Bitlocker since yesterday still is today, i was only running an antivirus scan then out of nowhere the Bitlocker screen appeared. The recovery key isn't working, command prompts won't work either, Bitlocker is still appearing. Secure Boot was disabled so i enabled it, nothing changed. I'm running out of options... I didn't even do anything yet my mother still blamed me for everything that happened just like she always does.
With respect to your mother, it is not your fault. Microsoft is to blame for their poor implementation of Bitlocker. Where are you getting access to the Bitlocker recovery password?
@@CyberMedics Hi, this is a big dissgus situation about MS and still give us a headache. Without account ms on windows just local account, I can't get unlock my device. For everyone who loose your information for nothing. They must launch a solution of this problem. Not every ones use an account with MS, just a local user.
I had this happen to me and thought my drive had failed in my Dell Inspiron 1500 series, so I replaced the drive with a new one and installed Win11. I have installed the old encrypted ssd drive into an external case in hopes of retrieving my data, have I messed up the recovery of that drive? Am I screwed so to speak by MS? The drive had a lot of business and personal data on it.
As I understand it each recovery key is unique to each drive. If you have access to the MS account that was logged into, when the drive was encrypted, then you can use that key to recover the data. The key will be linked to the account: account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey. Please keep us updated. Thank you for supporting the channel by commenting & giving the video a thumbs up!
I messed up big time. I had a 1TB microSD I was formatting to use in another device, which had a few partitions on it, so I was removing this one smaller partition to allocate its space to the larger partition. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I noticed right after saving the partition table that I accidentally deleted the partition off my 1TB SSD instead which had Windows 11. I had to reinstall Windows 11, and when I finally got logged on, I noticed one of my internal drives had a lock on it. All my other drives are decrypted. I don't recall ever being asked if I wanted to encrypt this drive either. I installed a lot of programs on that drive, and now when I boot up, they don't automatically launch. I have to unlock the drive with my recovery key every boot up, and then launch these programs manually. It's a pain in the a. I can not access this drive in Linux either. So I've been decrypting the drive and it's been 3 days now and it's not even at 50% yet. Is there a FASTER way to decrypt the drive?
@@CyberMedics It was an 8 TB drive and it took 6 days to decrypt, leaving the computer on all day and night. I had disconnected the internet while I slept for a little safety precaution. Turning off secure boot in BIOS did not remove the lock, so keep that turned on. I thought about going back to Windows 10, and then I noticed something. I had 2 drives and each drive had its own key. I know I entered the key for one of them, and may have accidentally pressed skip or next when it asked for the other one because I don’t recall it asking. Windows said I had 2 desktops when I didn’t. It was the same machine.
@@Cyko.. appreciate the insight into your bid locker situation. Bitlocker can be activated in Windows 10 also. Microsoft creates a unique numerical password for each drive in encrypts.
I have not been able to open bitlocker lock on my d drive. If opened in cmd, manage-bde -Protectors -get D: It does not show the numerical key, only the numerical password Id. And External key: ID. And without numerical password key it won't open. Please guide and help. In cmd or powershell When tried to enable Automatic Unlock . It says that it can not be done since the drive has been locked. I am stuck, I tried all the methods but none of them worked. 😥😓☹️ I have mailed you the screen shot.
Thank you for commenting & subscribing. Please make sure bitlocker is not active on your C drive following the steps in the video. As you may know the numerical password only links to the bitlocker password, but does nothing to unlock a bitlocker drive. Please also send a screen shot with the manage-bde -status. Is this drive internal to the computer? What is the drive used for (data storage, different boot OS....)? What happened prior to the drive being locked (Bios update, OS update, computer hardware configuration change, login with new profile)? Something happened that activated the bitlocker.

Hi. I had my gaming PC prebuilt about 4 years ago. I did the command prompts and I see that both the C and D drives are both decrypted and have their device encryptions turned off. I went to Microsoft's site and they say I dont have a BitLocker recovery key on this pc,that the company that prebuilt my PC may have it. My question is if I enable encryption on both the C and D drive, will I then be able to have the keys on my PC generated? And if so I'd just do the command prompts you spoke about in your video to then be able to see them? Right now I sorta dont even want to turn on the encryption both both drives but I realize I may need them someday when I upgrade to Windows11,yes I am currently on Windows 10. What would you do? I'm thinking turn on the encryption for both drives, get the recovery key and write it down. Then use your video to turn them off for both drives so I wont be locked out with windows update bug that locks me out of my PC. Is this the way to go? Please answer ok :) Thanks. Btw-I dont grab windows updates every week, just once monthly. I had an update about 10-14 days ago,I think. The next update is schedulesf or 8.27.24 I
First make sure you have a backup of your data. We typically recommend putting it on the cloud and having local copy. After that, yes I’d turn it on and get the keys. You cannot predict at some future date when it will be turned on. You may want to store these keys securely on an encrypted drive or in your password vault.
I have everything backed to external drives. I found out that Windows 10 home edition doesn't offer Bitlocker,so I guess I'm safe from the bug. I also read that on Aug. 13th Mucrosoft issued a patch to fix the problem. Things are good on my end but I do plan to upgrade to Windows 11 eventually and will be sure to write down the recovery keys. Thanks so much for answering my concerns. @CyberMedics

i have the same problem. automically bitlocked during upgrade from win 10 to 11. tried to uninstall or roll back to previous version but nothing worked. it keeps asking for recovery key. Microsoft customer care people are useless and they made my head more hot. shame shame to microsoft who dosent trust real owners and helps.
Unfortunately for me, after upgrading my system from windows 10 to windows 11, a bios updates was also installed with the updates. I got the bitlocker blue screen. My Microsoft account shows the laptop in my profile. However, it shows that device as not having bitlocker setup on that system. So, there is no key for me to use to unlock my system. Microsoft technical support says there is nothing they can do. Because it is was windows 10 home upgraded to windows 11 Home that should mean the key is stored on the device in the TPM. Any advice on TPM sniffing, or any videos you can recommend to help me find my key?
Is it possible you have another MS service that has a MS account. The key could be there. If someone else originally set up the computer it could be on their account.
@CyberMedics There is no other MS account. That account was set up day one, and is the only account used on that system and MS apps. My account shows the laptop, and the identifier codes match. However, the MS account says bitlocker was not setup on that drive. It is obviously set up on the drive, it just didn't report the key to my MS account. It could have been an issue that occurred at setup, and MS never ran a check, or updated the bitlocker key. I just don't know.
@CyberMedics With it being a Windows Home system and a Lenovo system, Lenovo (and Dell) sets up the bitlocker on their systems at the factory for Home and Pro Editions. The key is stored on the TPM. Upon setup and registering your MS account, it is supposed to report the key to your MS account. For me, it appears to have not reported that key to MS. There is a vulnerability on some machines that allows you to intercept the bitlocker key. With what I have read about this vulnerability, upon power up, the TPM sends the key to the CPU to verify the drive. During this process, the data is unencrypted. So, you can connect a device on the connection at the TPM and sniff out the key.
HI, Have a ASUS tablet with soldered HD so cant connect to other computer to erase drive. All boot USB attempts keep triggering Bitlocker. So i want to erase drive and install Win 8 but how can i do this? Can i use command prompt in recovery blue screen F8 area or will i still need key. As you explained, will erasing drive totally still leave Key with TPM and still lock me out?
You have to get into the BIOS and set the boot record so that it will boot off a USB first rather than the hard drive. Once you reformat the hard drive you will eliminate the BitLocker key locking the drive.
I have a question if you don't mind. If I have one partition (it isn't the windows partition) encrypted with the bitlocker on 1.2 TPM. With the HDD removed from computer is there any chance someone could extract the recovery key by taking a snapshot of the disk? I think I've seen something about it in one of your clips but not sure if that would work in this particular scenario.
Thanks for commenting and subscribing. In order to unencrypt the drive, someone would have of hacked the Bitlocker encryption algorithm. This is highly unlikely in the near term. They will not recover the key from the drive. The key can only be displayed in the OS if the drive is authenticated (i.e. logged into the OS). Taking the drive out of the system will not allow someone to find the Bitlocker key. Thanks for commenting & subscribing. Please share our content with others.

My issue still persists. I was signed in with a local account and saved the recovery key as a pdf file but after updating the bios, the bitlocker screen came up and I didn't have the key saved anywhere else
Did you manually activate Bitlocker? it normally doesn’t get activated unless you have logged into some sort of Microsoft account on a Microsoft service.
Encryption should be on any device you store personal information on. It's standard on phones so for laptops etc it makes sense too. I even have it enabled for my desktop. Too much valuable data I don't want a burglar to gain access to.
Good evening. First of all, thank you for your video! Unfortunately for me...when I try the -get C: command, the Numerical Password is NOT a numerical password. It is letters and numbers. In addition, the Bitlocker window is showing one Recovery Key ID number, while my Microsoft account shows ANOTHER Recovery ID number. Yet, both seem to have been created on the same day. I've gone through all the steps that you've mentioned, and I've taken actions such as resetting the Secure Boot Key Management to Restory Factory Settings, enabling and disabling the Secure Boot. No success! I don't have a restore point, I haven't backed up my files in a while to an external drive, and I don't have a system image to work off of. If you can think of another workaround, I'd be truly grateful! If not, well, thanks for reading this message.
Appreciate you supporting the channel by commenting and giving the video thumbs up! I would recommend using the commands in the video description to disable Bitlocker on the system. Make a copy of the key that is currently in the Microsoft account. Then I would delete the key out of the account, emphasizing again that you make a copy of that key and have it someplace safe. Once you reenable Bitlocker it should store a new key on the account & it should be the same key generated by the Bitlocker command on the system. Please update us.
@@CyberMedics Does it matter if the Recovery key in my Microsoft account is all numbers, but the recovery key showing up on the Bitlocker blue screen is digits AND letters?
I just tried the steps outlined at minute 6:45. My Command Prompt screen shows me the TPM ID and Numerical Password. However, the Numerical Password shows an ID line only, not an ID line AND a separate Password line, as mentioned at minute 6:54. The Numerical Password is in letters AND numbers. When I enter this number/letter combination in the blue screen square named "Enter the recovery key for this drive", I see the message "The recovery key is incorrect; please enter it again." I'm just not seeing the same Recovery Key ID on the Bitlocker blue screen as in my Microsoft account.
Most likely somewhere there is a Microsoft account tied to your computer. That bit locker key will be registered there. In one of your previous clips you said they tpm will give you extra safety. I am on win 10
First thing is to make sure you have a local backup of all data & a cloud backup. There may be a BIOS update that would allow you to run TPM 2.0 Please validate all your Bitlocker keys, because any of these changes could activate the Bitlocker Key recovery. Thanks for commenting & subscribing. Please share our content with other & let us know if you have any questions.
@@CyberMedics thanks for your kindness. do you recommend removing the recovery key for better safety? (eg I don't think i will ever forget my password and I find it pointless having a recovery key when it could decrease the safety)
@@AndreiSimion-hw6qr We are referring to the Bitlocker recovery key, correct? Are you logging onto the computer with a MS account? If so, Bitlocker could be implemented dynamically without your consent. Bitlocker encryption is implemented in conjunction with TPM to enhance the security of your computer. It is a layer of protection at the hardware level that protects against cyber attacks. I don't recommend turning it off. It is not related to forgetting a password.....unless I'm not following you correctly. Please clarify for me, if I'm off track.
@@CyberMedics I have an original windows key and I am logged with my Skype and Microsoft store account, I'm not sure if those count as MS account (or how exactly I could check if I'm looged onto ms account?). Anything can trigger the Trusted Platform Module to invoke the Bitlocker security key....a windows update, bios update, a new user with a Microsoft account. Two things are a high probability: Something updated triggered it & Somehow the system believes there is a Microsoft account tied to the machine. In my case it was a BIOS update. Some questions: 1. Is it possible the key is to be found in something called Azure account? Where do I find it? 2. I cannot run in Safe Mode anymore, since it asks for the Bitlocker Key. This is extremely frustating. Is there a way I can get from TaskManager into the CMD to check the key still locally? All this while, I only used it to save my dji vidoes and pictures and the ones shot on my phone jst to make space since it's a 1tb storage. Now since I deleted this folder, I have to go to the drive I deleted it frm wch is drive C and saw it was bitlocker enabled but open while there is a strange drive D I didn't create wch is bitlocker enabled and locked. I went to my settings and I saw device encryption is turned on And there is option to recover key but not to turn it off. When I go to this D drive to unlock it, it says 'load key from USB drive' So I went bk to link and followed Microsoft account and got the key wch I saved on an external drive E. But when I open this in drive E there is no option to use it or so I thought Now my question and curiosity is why was that drive D created in the first place and why was it locked and C drive open? What is in it? I saw it is a 0.99tb storage. Could it contain the folders i am trying to recover. I have tried using Windows file recovery but it keeps saying system cannot find the folder I am looking for. Please help sir. This mess is too much for me. ****What you need to know about a MS account:****
You may have a Microsoft (MS) account & not know it. If you signed up for any cloud services (Like Teams) with MS you would have linked a MS account or if your work/school linked you to any cloud based services this would have activated Azure AD tied to a MS account. Your computer could be tied to someone else that used a MS account on the computer. Or any other MS account service. Normally MS doesn't allow Bitlocker to become activated unless the OS has used a MS account on the computer in some way. Please review if possibly someone else used a MS account on your computer.

1. Let it loop....At the recovery screen, prese "Esc" for more recovery options
2. Press skip drive on next screen
3. Select Troubleshoot
4. Select Advanced Options
5. Select Command Prompt
6. Check Drive Status type inside the quotes "Manage-bde -status c:"
- Should indicate protection status is on
7. Type "Manage-bde -unlock c: -rp 123456-789123-456789-123456-789123-456789-123456-789123"
- Should indicate drive is unlocked
8. Type "Manage-bde -protectors -disable c:" to disable BitLocker
- You should be able to reboot the drive without Bitlocker

"Press SHIFT-F10 or hit 'repair' in from the Windows installation to open up the command line, then execute the diskpart command and delete the partition, e.g.: list disk, select disk 0 or any other identifying the correct disk, list partition, select partition 1, or the encrypted one , in case there are multiple partitions, then delete partition override.
You can then resume the install procedure normally to repartition and format the drive."

MS What is TPM?
support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/what-is-tpm-705f241d-025d-4470-80c5-4feeb24fa1ee
From Microsoft: TPM is used to improve the security of your PC. It's used by services like BitLocker drive encryption, Windows Hello, and others, to securely create and store cryptographic keys, and to confirm that the operating system and firmware on your device are what they're supposed to be, and haven't been tampered with.

In one of your previous clips you said they tpm will give you extra safety. I am on win 10

First thing is to make sure you have a local backup of all data & a cloud backup. Ideally you have file history backup turned on in windows also.
Here are useful links for your review:

learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/information-protection/tpm/trusted-platform-module-overview
Here is my conclusion from reviewing this.
(eg I don't think i will ever forget my password and I find it pointless having a recovery key when it could decrease the safety)

Bitlocker encryption is implemented in conjunction with TPM to enhance the security of your computer. It is a layer of protection at the hardware level that protects against cyber attacks. I don't recommend turning it off.
This happened to me. Microsoft needs to warn users and make sure we are aware of the encryption system.
Would you consider sharing your tech interests?
I have Windows 11 Home installed on my system
The previous step using "manage-bde -status" found Bitlocker was not installed on any of my drives.
Note there are two parts to the Bitlocker: The recovery ID and the password. The password is all numeric (48 characters)
Hi, same problem here. Did you manage to recover your data?
Sorry you are going through that. The only way to speed it up is a higher data speed interface. Please share lesson learned to help others.

I have mailed you the screen shot.

Have not run across this scenario. Things you can try:
1. In BIOS go to security disable secure boot and restart
2. At Bitlocker recovery screen press escape then skip drive
2.1 Troubleshoot/Advanced Options
- Select System Restore
2.2 Troubleshoot/Advanced Options

- Select Reset PC & Keep Files
2.4 Troubleshoot/Advanced Options
- Select System Image Recovery (if you have one...may need to insert Bootable media to complete)

****Overall Advice:****
There is no good answer to this, except maybe move to a different operating system. In theory using a local account could (not guaranteed) keep BitLocker off the computer.

Do not believe you will get it from the TPM. That is the whole reason it is stored protected there.
I think this is what you’re referring to: pulsesecurity.co.nz/articles/TPM-sniffing

I suppose one thing is to turn it on and back up the key several ways, so it doesn't get enabled without your knowledge. 2:40

Encryption should be on any device you store personal information on. It's standard on phones so for laptops etc it makes sense too. I even have it enabled for my desktop. Too much valuable data I don't want a burglar to gain access to.
Thanks for commenting. What do you think of the way MS implemented bitlocker?

Thanks for any help.
Are you running Windows 10?
yes @@CyberMedics
I'll have to try it on the Windows 10 system to see if the command prompt command is different.
In one of your previous clips you said they tpm will give you extra safety. I am on win 10
First thing is to make sure you have a local backup of all data & a cloud backup. Ideally you have file history backup turned on in windows also.
Here are useful links for your review:
premioinc.com/blogs/blog/differences-between-ftpm-vs-dtpm
learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/information-protection/tpm/tpm-recommendations

learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/information-protection/tpm/trusted-platform-module-overview
Here is my conclusion from reviewing this.
There may be a BIOS update that would allow you to run TPM 2.0

I think I got it wrong. I thought that removing the recovery key is something optional the user can control but it seems to be mandatory implemented no matter if I want it or not. There is no option for me to eliminate it once I get the drive unlocked.
@@AndreiSimion-hw6qr You are smart for digging into this. That is the main point of this video. Under windows with Bitlocker you are not in control. The whole thing, "what is a MS account" is super confusing.
From the Reddit post in this video description:
- A "Microsoft account" is a very vague term. One account will allow you access to certain Microsoft services, whereas another will not. How do you check this? There are at least 4 different ways to log into a Microsoft account:
account.microsoft.com
myaccount.microsoft.com
mysignins.microsoft.com/
azure.microsoft.com/en-ca/account
My best advice is to get a MS outlook account & use it for your login. Activate bitlocker and store the key. Why? A known state for the computer is better than an unknown state. If you don't log into Window with a MS account, you could inadvertently be using a MS service and MS will activate Bitlocker. At that point you won't know where the key is located. Crazy hugh? Thank you MS.
My device is registered to my Microsoft account but there's no bitlocker recovery key backed up on it. Tried everything from uninstalling windows quality and feature updates to disabling bitlocker. Nothing worked. Blue bitlocker screen shows up everytime. Even tried resetting the device by losing all files but not able to do so, neither through cloud nor through local.
Any suggestions?

I need help...got a work pc. Just started working and it froze. I made the mistake of restarting it which they don't like and it booted up to the Security Key...lo and behold, I don't have it, they don't have it, tons of data confidential. I got two days to get it back up and running. Weird thing is this...on the cmd, I get this: Conversion status: Unknown, Percentage encrypted: Unknown%, Protection Statues: Unknown. I have attempted to retrieve the key via another cmd prompt but it does not show the password! it's nuts! I even went via Azure and there's no device associated to my Microsoft account!
Things you can try
1. In BIOS go to security disable secure boot and restart
2. At Bitlocker recovery screen press escape then skip drive
2.1 Troubleshoot/Advanced Options
- Select System Restore
2.2 Troubleshoot/Advanced Options
- Select Go Back to previous build
2.3 Select Troubleshoot
- Select Reset PC & Keep Files
2.4 Troubleshoot/Advanced Options
- Select System Image Recovery (if you have one...may need to insert bootable media to complete)

This is terrible! Microsoft should be ashamed. They are encrypting drives without asking permission. You may have a Microsoft (MS) account & not know it. If you signed up for any cloud services (Like Teams) with MS you would have linked a MS account or if your work/school linked you to any cloud based services this would have activated Azure AD tied to a MS account. This account could hold your key. Please take this seriously & check your system to see if Bitlocker is activated. It will only take one system update, hardware change, or bios update to activate this potential blue screen of death on your computer. Please give us some feedback on your experience with Bitlocker.
Doesnt work, it says I dont have permission to do it, like if my user is not admin or something.
@@carzoparazzo9698 could be you are not logged in on an admin account.

Hello sir pls help! Its been five days and an going crazy. I am not tech savvy at all but I was forced to learn the hard way when I accidentally right clicked my biggest folder on desktop while trying to delete a crappy folder from hell!
Now all my hard work from last year gone under a flash cos I used permanently delete function and it can't be found in recycle or backed up because Microsoft won't let be back up big chunks of files at once so I turned off desktop folder.
Prior to this I just bought the acer swift x Windows 10 without knowing how it works. First it told me to open Microsoft account wch I did and then next it asked me to upgrade to Windows 11 wch I did . Also sometimes during shutdown it asked me to upgrade and restart wch I normally do.
I went to my settings and I saw device encryption is turned on
And there is option to recover key but not to turn it off. When I go to this D drive to unlock it, it says 'load key from USB drive' So I went bk to link and followed Microsoft account and got the key wch I saved on an external drive E. But when I open this in drive E there is no option to use it or so I thought
Now my question and curiosity is why was that drive D created in the first place and why was it locked and C drive open? What is in it? I saw it is a 0.99tb storage. Could it contain the folders i am trying to recover. I have tried using Windows file recovery but it keeps saying system cannot find the folder I am looking for.
Please help sir. This mess is too much for me. My major aim is to recover my deleted folder as it holds all the work did last year. Please you suggestions or help will be very appreciated 🙏
Sorry for the long read. I needed to make myself clear
Hello
I really need help
My Laptop was locked too by a Bitlocker
I really need to backup the files cause it is important and I have tried the ways you do in the video its still doesn't work.
Moreof, I do not want it to be formatted.
@@mcgonagall4009 I understand. Please tell me what happened prior to the drive being locked? Did you have a BIOS update?
I activate the windows but it seems its okay but after a few days I turn it back on it leads me to the Bitlocker setup and that's it
And I do not know what is BIOS update
@@mcgonagall4009 Do you have a Microsoft email account?

@@CyberMedics I checked and my PC doesn't seem to support TPM. Sofor now I might be safe from unwanted changes by the OS, I guess. With the next machine I'll get I'll probably have to look out, though.
Running on the final update for Windows 10 anyway now. 22H2
@@neatwheat as I’m sure you’re aware, always have a local and cloud backup of all your data. Running file history on an external hard drive along with your window. System is also an excellent idea.
@@CyberMedics Thanks for the advise. Yes, I do partially backup on cloud drive and other than that on external hard drives. 🙂

The first thing I would do is disable bitlocker from the system! Another way for Microsoft to control you like the government is trying to do. This is why if your computer is very old, microsoft says you can't install windows 11 even though you can. It just doesn't have the TPM chip. Fk micorosft!
Great feedback. Thanks for commenting & subscribing. If you only log in with a local account that is probably a safe method. Some people are logging in with a MS account or MS is associating their login in with a MS service and automatically implementing bitlocker. It is insane that MS would encrypt someone's drive and not even tell them! Commenting & giving the video a thumbs up supports our efforts to help others with technology. Thank you. So the fix, is turn off shitty system update..😂. Wow, works better already...
lol. wish it were that simple. Any configuration changes on the PC system can cause Blocker to be activated. Have you had any direct experience with Blocker good or bad?
@@CyberMedics yea, that's why we run winAME on all critical sub systems and external firewalls to take up the slack then the PC is solid as a rock 100%
