    The one problem that no one wants to test. Is reliability and longevity the reason why they have the torque ratings is that the tool will last as long or longer than the warranty based on the specifications go ahead and keep using it at 225ft lbs non stop and it will wear down the tool way faster. Yes it is capable but if not used to exact specifications it will die out or something will break sooner than it should. This is all for optimum performance. Just because you can does not mean you should.

    I use the xr 1/4", 3/8", large 1/2", Hammer Drill and 60 volt grinder on a regular basis repairing semis, pickups and tractors.
    They haven't let me down yet and I have zero complaints.
    DeWalt needs to come out with a 1" cordless and I'd like to see a real 3/4" impact that isn't the same as mine with a 3/4 anvil.
    Just a broader line of cordless mechanics tools in general.

    This is the serious review that I needed for my little wondering mind. I have this tool at work. A guy at work had a Bauer (I assume it was a mid torque though) and it absolutely smoked my little impact. Yesterday I ordered the 923b. Now I actually see that I may have really been maximizing my backpack’s compacted profile performance with the 890b. It really just doesn’t seem like it’s this powerful. But then I am using a ps battery.

    Great review. Honest and to the point. Answered my questions. The only issues I see are on lug nuts. Do they really require over 150ft lbs of torque on a standard car? I'm pretty sure they are less. So, in reality, I think you can use these to remove a compact and mid-size vehicle like a sedan or wagon lug nuts.

    You should've took that torque gun you were using to tighten the bolts in the breakaway torque test and set it at 125ft/lb then gradually upped it incrementally until you reach the point at which it would have further tighten those nuts you had tightened with the DeWalt to see approximately how many ft/lb or torque the DeWalt actually maxed out at.

    Dewalt makes the best user friendly tools, hands down. Saying that however both of Milwaukee’s M12 stubbys actually have more power than this tool, but the battery setup is a little bit of a pain sometimes. Own this, the Dcf902 12v, dcf894 and dcf899 big boy, I also own most of the Milwaukee m12 line, I prefer dewalt for the comfort and ergonomics, but the Milwaukee has the performance I need for the industrial equipment I work on.

    Upgraded from an older 18v kit. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

  • @chrisrstt
    @chrisrstt 3 роки тому +1

    The problem is that using those adapters would reduce the torque, unlike having a rusted 17mm bolt that you can use a 3/8's socket on and get max torque, adapting to a bigger size just shows nothing.

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  3 роки тому +1

      I understand what you're saying about a rusted fastener, but it's impossible to show repeated equal results with rusted fasteners. This is why we use 10 equal nuts and bolts. Regardless of whether the ft-lbs are off by 20 to 30 ft-lbs, it still show repetitive and quantifiable results. You can't say this shows "nothing". It may not show what you want to see, but it does show the output of the impact. Thanks for watching.

    Does battery size affect torque values/power, or is 2 ah vs 5 ah just a run time value ??

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  2 роки тому

      The 5Ah does push the power/torque up a bit. What the larger size does for you is it doesn't let the tool "fall off" on power due to discharge. There's more science than this, but too long to type. Basically, the larger Ah does provide a bump in power. Thanks for watching.

    I have the 899, 894, and 902. Would this be a redundant?
    The 150 ft-lb is fastening btw. Its Mac counter part is rated at 275 breakaway. I think it’s going to do much better, on your test bench, then the 12v xtreme. Because the impact hammer diameter is bigger, and it’s about same size as the nut.
    But on a 19mm socket, I bet the the performance of these two are closer.

      @@Shoptoolreviews thank you for making me realize I'm not insane, and it is the tool, and not me. Lol.
      I drilled a 1/32 hole through the anvil, and then mounted a 3/8 to 1/2 (detent) adapter and pinned it to the anvil. Now I have a 1/2" impact wrench lol. I was worried about the integrity of the anvil, and (safely) tested it under a heavy load, and it seems to be ok. My warranty... not so much lol.

    I know for a fact it'll torq well above 230 ftlbs. this all depends on bolt size & battery life & I love my impact but these are junk. I just wish Dewalt would make one that works & lasts like their drills. I've used many of their drills through out the years, so many old models & new ones. I've never seen one burn up or die. but I'd have to imagine ANY impact Dewalt makes is absolute junk. get Milwaukee

    I bet this dude wont do a real life review & idc if he uses this with adapters & put decks crews in with it & use it on every nut & bolt when he can for 3 months & tell us his results. cause know for a fact the only ones that work still where I work & I work in a plant with 50 or more of these things. I use mine daily for assembly. not auto work. & everyone else's still works cause they lay on their tool carts all day. where they belong. I bet one of these wouldn't last a year putting in freaking decks crews ONLY
