Thank you to everyone for all the amazingly kind words in the comments, and for being with me on this journey! I can't believe its been 4 years. If you'd have told me when I was graduating high school that this is what I'd be doing with my life, I would never have believed you.... Life is strange, and wonderful, and through the ups and downs, its an amazing world, where any one of us can truly be anything we want to be. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to share my journey with you, and am so excited for what the future holds... a big announcment is coming soon :) Much love to all of you, and thank you again for watching my videos to make all this possible.

Also the fact you somehow managed to make me actually fully watch a whole 2 hour video is amazing within itself. I am proud of all the work you've done mate and I look forward to seeing more of you.
I started watching the series shortly after my daughter died. My creative Muse was just obliterated. All my 3-D printers were silent. I was making nothing. I was watching videos like yours and some others to try to get going again, but during the journey more stuff started happening to me. I lost my brother during Covid to Covid. Two months later, I lost my only grandmother. My health drastically went downhill and the last two years I have nearly died three separate times one of them a doctor OD’ed me in the hospital and put me in the ICU. But long story short I’m still here and this series kept giving me the courage to get out to my new shop and renovate it. We hold.
Dude, kudos. This is not just sheer work you have here. A lot had happened - from the renov, you got hospitalized, lost your buddy cat and broke up with your girlfriend at some point in time. Those were never easy but you kept going. Kudos to you man. More blessings to you and to all your friends who helped you get this dream project done.
can't believe it's been 4 years. felt like I found your videos and started renovating my own home just a few months ago. time has been flying by like crazy
It's amazing how far you have come in this journey among trials and tribulations. This isn't just a renovation of spaces and dual facing toilets, but a renovation of the soul. Thanks!
I've been a silent companion through this journey with you watching each episode one after another. Watching the whole renovation compressed into a 2h long video was still pretty fascinating but im glad i was here to see the ups and downs of your life aswell along the way. Congratulations, be proud and enjoy the heck of your finished new home! To anyone watching this video, i highly recommend watching all the separate episodes.
I started work on my house in 1995, as a farmer it meant working on it after 12-16 hours on the dairy farm. I doubled it in size, from 850 sqf to 1700 but I ran out of money to finish it and now at 65 years of age my body is thoroughly beat up after 50 years of working 60 - 80 hours a week, I still hope to see my house finished one day. it was very inspiring to watch this video, I am deeply impressed with the amazing job you did on this project. I wish you good health and all the best for the future
It's absolutely INCREDIBLE how fast these people do these projects. Think about how long you would spend in between each of these steps figuring out what you SHOULD do, before you try to figure out how you can do. I can only imagine that everyone doing this has been doing it for years (and dozens of prior projects) in order to have the knowledge of how to basically "speak" renovation "fluently."
I'm sure I'm not the only one to say this, but I've been watching your journey from SA from the time you bought the building when covid just hit the world and have watched every video since, in fact, the minute a video landed I wouldn't waste time to watch it. it's been a great journey watching how your skills and all the rest have improved over the years and seen how your channel has grown since then, wow it has been monumental... May this new chapter of finishing off your building and moving on to the next project(s) be just as successful and hopefully we'll get to see more video's and won't stop 🙂
Dear young man you are a joyful blessing, because I got to see you and others work together to do this project, but most of all knowing the medical thing that you went through had me remembering of the some what medical situation I had to go through, removal of a tumor in my stomach, and then after that I had two stents put into my heart. I’m doing fine but it sure makes you think. As a young old man I admire your dedication to the things you do. You are the type of young person that I believe should be focusing on more , not saying that some that some young people don’t need our help, but saying that most of our young people are doing awesome things in our society and I’m proud of them all.
To the person that commented that part of the video for the word carcass the Meaning of Cabinet carcass does not mean road kill this is the real definition of cabinet carcass "A carcass cabinet is the framework or body of the cabinet" And modustrial I love this video of the process that happened to make the warehouse what it is now. Thanks for providing the awesome video. Another thing I would recommend is for that viewer that made that comment on the carcass word I would use the other word "carcase" so it does not trigger viewers... Even though cabinet carcass means something way different then what that commenter said.
I Love seeing a Man doing construction. "My Father" built houses. He did it All like you! To Me that's Amazing!! "REAL MAN Stuff!!" Loving This!! Congratulations!!
4 years of work with all that hard work and dedication is absolutely worth it 👌 🙌 🙏 thanks for taking us through this journey it was an inspiration. Looking forward to new projects
People who do this type of work just amaze me! You see the end result at the beginning, keep your vision, and are patient to see that end result become a reality. Just… wow❤
Just a little advice from one handyman to another. Always wear boots or hiking boots when doing demo or any type of construction. I’ve learned the hard way getting a nail right through my sneakers, lol. Great job btw!!!
just moved to Canada from Philippines and construction are so different and this channel helps me adjust what material to use when i want something change in our house
Been watching this journey for about an hour and 20 minutes now and my heart dropped when your health turned took a dive. Brought tears to my eyes knowing that everything you had to endure but you actually strengthened me for just simply appreciating your second chance at life. I genuinely thank you for sharing this moment with us all and I sincerely wish you peace and blessings.
Can't believe a channel as big as this still reads comments. Just wants to say this video is absolutely amazing. Being young and in South Africa your amazing content motivates me to also someday renovate a home and to get up and do something with my life. So many people put up a facade on their videos but this is real content that every UA-camr should aspire to produce. Wish I had discovered the channels when the series began. Once again thanks for a great watch!
Im so sorry for what you went through, and to have your gf leave you when your at your lowest says alot about her. I would love to get you on my podcast one day. Talk about your mental health throughout this whole process. Keep smashing it bro! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
My thought is she wanted him to settle down with all the strenuous night and day renovations after he almost died but his passion was to finish what he started on his own so they parted ways. Of course this is purely just speculation..
I followed your story since Covid and to see your house is complete, feels like an accomplishment to me too. Congratulations on the new home! You deserved all the hardwork you did for the building and it's looking so good!
Man... I remember finding your channel on day 1 of the journey. So many ups and downs. Issues with supplies, contractors, then the hospital event. But you pulled through all of it. What a journey it's been. The inspiration and satisfaction of watching you work has provided countless hours of entertainment. Thanks for this. So glad to see it finally come to life!
I’m about halfway through this amazing video. I just had to comment on the video of you after surgery where you held the blanket against your stomach. I had a surgery before on my abdomen and I remember my little blanket I carried for weeks. Reminded me of a harder time in life and also reminded me to be happy in my current moment. Thank you 🥲
I had watched all of the renovation videos as they happened, so nothing was new. And I hate long UA-cam videos.... but I couldn't stop watching this one! What an amazing transformation, and I'm blown away by the vision to make it work! Fantastic job!
Watched every episode. Your dedication to doing things right and your willingness to do tasks that you have never done before is to be commended. Thanks for the allowing us to watch your project. Looking forward to your future episodes and journeys.
I watched your whole video from start to finish. I brought tears to my eyes. When I hit 30, I bought my first home. A 1894 queen Anne cottage in a great neighborhood. Demo'd to dirt floors, rotted roof, popped the top. Build a garage shop, all while living in the narrow building space. Remodel took over 5 years as my day job was in tech. I remember 3am stints grouting slate and building custom CNC cabinets. Bless your spirit and following your dreams!
Hard to believe it's been 4 years since I was randomly suggested a video about a former attorney buying an abandoned building, glad I clicked on it. It's been an awesome journey to watch. When I see the things that you've tackled in renovating this place, whether it was something you've done before or not, it makes me think; "Maybe I can do some stuff around my house too". Looking forward to see where you go from here. How about an epoxy computer desk that's basically a diorama of the final battle from Avengers Endgame??
I've been following you since before you bought this building. This has been an amazing adventure to follow. I'm excited for your future projects. Congratulations on your "new" home and workspace.
I just found you today! As Beautiful as this major undertaking of this awesome building kept me on the edge of my seat with every project and all the major events you came through.. your health and the loss of your beloved Karma and a life changing breakup. The real takeaway for me was your spirit and your genuine happy nature. This world needs more people like you .. I know you’ve inspired and touched so many. I smiled , I laughed, and admired your talent! My pup consoled me when some tears fell too. Congratulations to you and bless all who helped along the way your greatly Loved. ❤
It must be fun to demolish stuff in the US: wood, plywood and cardboard all over the place. If I need to demolish stuff in my country I'm screwed, it's brick, concrete and steel rebars even in internal walls.
I understand what your feeling and saying, I'm 84 and I had 3 strokes within 72 hours back in December 2018, I feel wonderful to be alive and doing very well but I'm in a wheelchair, better than a pine box for sure. I just bought a 2006 Cargo van and plan to get out on the road as soon as I can. I found a wheelchair lift on line and will celebrate my 85 th next month in my van going around this beautiful Island of Hawaii. Been here on the Big Island for 50 years and Love it. Aloha Nui Loa, your place is just wonderful. good job.
I saw his forst video when he bought the house and loved the idea. Then lost his page and could never find it anymore. After 4 years I see his video thinking hmmm let’s check this video not realizing it’s him. And getting surprised its truly him this was worth watching and better then a 2 hours video. I love this. 💪💪
The four-year renovation of the abandoned warehouse in Chicago is a testament to the power of vision, collaboration, and persistence. It showcases the possibilities of blending historical preservation with modern innovation, ultimately creating a space that benefits the community and sets a precedent for future urban renewal projects.
You now hold the record for the longest beginning to end non movie video I've watched on UA-cam. I've seen bits & pieces of this series, but this whole overview was superb. Seeing what you have achieved is mind-blowing. I've seen some great renovations, but yours takes the cake! Thanks for sharing
You know my friend that hard time sounds like life plus time but it sounds like the making of the man you seem mighty and happy and that's awesome I'm happy for you
Got to watch your video for the first time and I can't believe the time and effort you have put in, along this amazing transformation. I am little bit relieved that i didn't have to wait for the new updates like your other followers and witnessed everything in one video. In awe. ❤
Still cant believe how awesome this turned out. Just comes to show the vision that you had for the place and with effort and patience you can get almost anything you want
The Dad lore is gonna go hard. Literally built a lowkey mansion in the beginning of a lowkey apocalypse. The generations won’t understand fully but putting that in a sentence sounds crazzzyy😂
Wow! I’m watching you for the first time, and was thoroughly impressed by your work, then in February of 2022 you had a pseudo aneurysm. Whoa. I too, just suffered one in June, of my superior mesenteric colic artery. I also lost over half my blood and was airlifted to a nearby city hospital. I couldn’t believe you also suffered one, at such a young age. Your home/studio/HQ are amazing. I subscribed and rang the bell. Here’s to new leases on life 💪🙏😎😇
I began following you during COVID lockdown but didn’t subscribe and tonight came acrosss your feed and sat down to subscribe and catch up. Holy shit man, so glad you’re still here and I gotta say I got misty eyed hearing and seeing ALL that you’ve been through and survived and thrived! Amazing work, story and job. You’re in my old neighborhood are of Chicago. From Dallas, glad I found u again and look forward to seeing more. You inspire.
A journey like this takes so much patience, faith, and endurance. I applaud your hard work. May you enjoy the fruits of your labor for many years to come❤
Idk how, but this came up on my recommended so I clicked on it not knowing what to expect. I just watched the entire 2 hour video and the finished product is unreal. Literal blood, sweat, and tears went to this, and it was a hell of a story to follow. Just earned a new subscriber, cant wait to see what big project you start next.
Wow this was an amazing watch! Ty for sharing. I’m so sorry about Karma. Life can be both scary & beautiful. I had a near-death experience 2/14/03 & as I’m sure you know… life changes after that! Glad you are still here to share all of this!
Man, 4 years ago I was still in high-school and watching a whole bunch of diy, home renovation, and handyman expansion projects cause highschool me wanted that cool, stock, youtuber setup. I stumbled across this series back during episode 1 and become so invested like a nosy neighbor: never really asking what's going on, but always sticking my nose in and saying to myself, "what's he up to now." It's weird seeing how much that warehouse has turned into a warehome.
This might just be my preference but I would definitely do accent walls or have some darker colors in the house. Helps break up the monotony of all the white and it keeps it interesting. The murals tho were definitely a nice touch
This is probably the best, most complete transformation build I've ever seen on UA-cam. You've gone through so much in your personal life...this video is truly inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
I recently started getting into DIY and home improvements. I'm technical by nature, and after stumbling onto your channel, I not only want to buy one of those magical Carpenter machines, I want to be like you when I grow up - lol. Great content man. Thanks for putting that all together. Glad you're still with us! Suuuubscribed.
I remember watching a family friend who did tile for a living when I was young. I was amazed at how tightly he could follow some of the most complicated cutouts and features! Your "hack" for the hall flooring against the brick reminded me of that!
I remember getting this recommended during the pandemic, watching a couple of videos and then never saw it appear again until now! Bingewatched the entire video, what an amazing transition and amazing job!! And what a wild ride you went though, not only with building complete new home, but also with your health. A completely life changing experience
Kudos to you, man! The planning, your vision, all the measurements and finicky details, your extreme attention to detail - it payed off! I know some of the floors are technically not “correct” (the cut and seams being too close to the end or each other in some parts), but I would say you compensated by making everything seamlessly fit, like you did next to the brick wall. This would be my dream project - so much potential, I’m super jealous. Not jealous of all the work though; I know how hard it is to renovate a “regular” house when doing most of it yourself, and this was a major project. You got there in the end, although your bumps were major - which makes this even more impressive!! Man, you deserve all the credit wow! I’m equally happy and sad I only found your channel after the 4-year video; on one part I didn’t have to wait to see everything, on the other hand I could have watched you for 4 years.
I have 4 plants with a reservoir. I have a pump that circulates water around them. In the summer I keep it about 76. I make a few extra gallons of the nutrients up and just freeze them in Tupperware. Then just drop one of them in each container. Keeps it plenty of cool. I am above a pump house so the ground can get cool. I actually use an aquarium heater to keep it at 70 when the lights aren’t on.
This video got me so emotional, didn't expect that, I just went on youtube to see how to pronounce alembic and this video popped up and I watched the whole thing and was crying at the end reveal.
I am happy you are still between us. Take care of yourself. It’s been a ride so far!
May this new chapter of finishing off your building and moving on to the next project(s) be just as successful and hopefully we'll get to see more video's and won't stop 🙂
thank you!
Thank you!! And I'm glad you made it through your health scares as well!
Was about to say the same type of thing, people are way too easily triggered these days.
This young man is amazing and has faith of the heart through it all .
Looking forward to new projects
no thank you for binging us on this amazing the journey and I'm glad you're still with us
People who do this type of work just amaze me! You see the end result at the beginning, keep your vision, and are patient to see that end result become a reality. Just… wow❤
thanks!
Just a little advice from one handyman to another. Always wear boots or hiking boots when doing demo or any type of construction. I’ve learned the hard way getting a nail right through my sneakers, lol. Great job btw!!!
It feels like saying goodbye to an old friend. It looks amazing, and it has been an honour to witness all the hard work that you put into it. A toast🥂
just moved to Canada from Philippines and construction are so different and this channel helps me adjust what material to use when i want something change in our house
Welcome to Canada 🇨🇦! This guy is amazing! I hope like this guy, you are able to make your dreams come true in this beautiful country!
Loved that you took a giant leap and chased your dream! Thank you for allowing us in on the journey!! Great job and best of luck!!
Thank you!
Me and my Mom watched this entire video like a movie and felt all the joys and challenges you went through. God bless you big time.
Been watching since the beginning of the renovation. What a wonderful journey, thanks for sharing with us!
Mad respect to you for not monetizing this 2 hour vid!
Omg he didn't?? That's wild!
Your videos kept me entertained throughout the Covid pandemic...the renovations absolutely stunning!
Thank you!!
@@modustrial I presume you would still be posting videos of your furniture now that the renovations are complete?
Can't believe a channel as big as this still reads comments. Just wants to say this video is absolutely amazing. Being young and in South Africa your amazing content motivates me to also someday renovate a home and to get up and do something with my life. So many people put up a facade on their videos but this is real content that every UA-camr should aspire to produce. Wish I had discovered the channels when the series began. Once again thanks for a great watch!
It's September 2024 and just watched the entire renovation. I think your incredible!!! I hope you enjoy your hard work and new home!!!
Thank you!! 🙏🙏
Wow!! 4 years?! Thank you for getting through Covid with your awesome videos. Beautiful job, well done!
Time sure flies doesn't it!
Im so sorry for what you went through, and to have your gf leave you when your at your lowest says alot about her. I would love to get you on my podcast one day. Talk about your mental health throughout this whole process. Keep smashing it bro! 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Thank you!
Yeah girls don't care as soon as they think the grass is greener on the other side, they're going to leave. Sad reality for us men.
Do you really think she needed to stay even though there was no feelings and she didn't want to stay? Wow, says alot about you
My thought is she wanted him to settle down with all the strenuous night and day renovations after he almost died but his passion was to finish what he started on his own so they parted ways. Of course this is purely just speculation..
How do you know this?
I followed your story since Covid and to see your house is complete, feels like an accomplishment to me too. Congratulations on the new home! You deserved all the hardwork you did for the building and it's looking so good!
thanks!
Fantastic job!
thank you!
Wow, a whole run-through for a Friday night! *grabs beer and snacks*
🍻🥨🍿
I popped corn. Twice.
Watched every episode. Your dedication to doing things right and your willingness to do tasks that you have never done before is to be commended. Thanks for the allowing us to watch your project. Looking forward to your future episodes and journeys.
thank you!
Dang man. You went through a lot in 2022. Got up and kept trucking. Strong dude. Awesome home!
Sounds like you've got a great place now, congrats!!
it was an awesome ride! So glad UA-cam hit me up with episode 3 right after the start! All the best from Germany mate!
Congratulations on your "new" home and workspace.
thanks much!
I've been watching since you started. I don't like many of your design choices but I like the quality of your workmanship and the project itself.
It's been 4 years, huh? Time flies, thanks for the journey!
Yeehaw what a long and memorable journey it has been.
it definitely has been!
Aloha Nui Loa, your place is just wonderful. good job.
that's amazing -- you're inspiration to me!
I saw his forst video when he bought the house and loved the idea. Then lost his page and could never find it anymore. After 4 years I see his video thinking hmmm let’s check this video not realizing it’s him. And getting surprised its truly him this was worth watching and better then a 2 hours video. I love this. 💪💪
Hi Mike!
Grabs popcorn!
🍿🍿
The four-year renovation of the abandoned warehouse in Chicago is a testament to the power of vision, collaboration, and persistence. It showcases the possibilities of blending historical preservation with modern innovation, ultimately creating a space that benefits the community and sets a precedent for future urban renewal projects.
Been waiting for this
You now hold the record for the longest beginning to end non movie video I've watched on UA-cam. I've seen bits & pieces of this series, but this whole overview was superb. Seeing what you have achieved is mind-blowing. I've seen some great renovations, but yours takes the cake! Thanks for sharing
Thank you!!
You know my friend that hard time sounds like life plus time but it sounds like the making of the man you seem mighty and happy and that's awesome I'm happy for you
Only mistake I saw was that you put the toilet paper in wrong!😂
I legit possess none of these characteristics lol. When I see a blank canvas all I see is a blank canvas.
2:08:00 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 God is good ❤️
Got to watch your video for the first time and I can't believe the time and effort you have put in, along this amazing transformation. I am little bit relieved that i didn't have to wait for the new updates like your other followers and witnessed everything in one video. In awe. ❤
Thank you!
Still cant believe how awesome this turned out. Just comes to show the vision that you had for the place and with effort and patience you can get almost anything you want
54:24 it should be illegal to put the toilet paper like that
The Dad lore is gonna go hard. Literally built a lowkey mansion in the beginning of a lowkey apocalypse. The generations won’t understand fully but putting that in a sentence sounds crazzzyy😂
Rip karma cat 😢😢
Here’s to new leases on life 💪🙏😎😇
So glad you made made it! Here's to making the most of life!
Thank you!!
Did that woman literally leave you when times were tough for you after everything you had done for the both of you
Typical women!
first time anything's ever been renovated in Chicago? Usually if you have money to renovate, you just move out of Chicago.
Thank you!! 🙏🙏
So so proud of you, what an amazing accomplishment. Thank you for sharing it and reminding us that our dreams will come true - no matter the journey it takes to get there 🙏You're an artist and an inspiration 💛
Thank you! Glad you found the channel 😃
Thanks for sharing your journey …it’s a true testament to what hard work and thinking out side the box can transpire. Glad you’re better.
