I just found these seeds in my local co-op. Came home and immediately pulled up UA-cam and found this video. Thanks so much for this upload and a wonderful comment section.

I love the varieties and the quality from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange for my own garden, and Irena has been kind enough to donate expired seeds and overstock to Edible Evanston to encourage and enable food growing and sharing in our community. The BEST place to buy okra seeds. (And everything else.) Thanks, Josh, for doing this film.

I did not know that SSE was a community, very interesting. I have always admired their goals and work. Even when I get my farm up and rolling with production type crops I will still try to dedicate a small place for unique heirlooms like what these guys are keeping alive. Thanks for sharing.

Nice to get a "behind the scenes" of one of my favorite seed companies! I've used Southern Exposure, with very good results, for about the last 15 years. Their varieties are well adapted to my conditions in hot, humid, Alabama. I firmly believe that "regionality" is very important in adaptability of seed strains. I'll use these guys whenever possible, over a seed company located outside of the south. Thanks for the sneak peek!

I've ordered seeds from them several times over the years and I have another decent size order on the way right now. I only live about a 3 hr drive from them which is why they are one of my first choices for mail order seeds. I like them even more after watching this video.

Thanks for this reply. I am looking for seeds that work well here in Southeast Louisiana. I've been sourcing some from MIgardener, but worry about their varieties working well down in the humidity.

    Dear Josh,
I came across this wonderful documentary re: Southern exposure.com seed company and found it very interesting indeed. Thank you putting this out there for us to see. The young lady you interviewed gave a wonderful presentation as to how they process their seeds. Thank you.

Very interesting to watch a video on a company I have bought seeds from!! So interesting to watch the various seed prep methods. The fan and bucket process was cool. My 4 and 6 year old do my seed harvesting from our garden :) The PURPLE PEANUTS were too cool. Gonna have to buy that! Maybe next time, cover more of their cool stuff to help them get more purchases as a result of the video. (Kinda how it will lead to me buying purple peanut seeds) Or do a video for kid friendly cool stuff to grow and various themes, to get the seed company more sales and maybe some residual income. (Just thinking out-loud.) Very cool

Living in the Southeast US, Southern Exposure has been a valuable resource for me. Thanks for the tour! BTW, Parafilm is one of those ubiquitous products you'll find in just about any chemical or biological lab. Every lab supplier sells it in 4", and 2" wide rolls, but I found 1" wide Parafilm Grafting Tape on Amazon. here's a link to just one of the sellers - amzn.to/2QfX5Vt

Make a cloak, its ridiculously easy. Plenty of patterns around and its really just a blanket with some darts taken out for fit.
She also has a nice jacket under that, might be a costumer / reenactor / larper for a hobby, or just someone who likes good clothes :D

I live in New Hampshire and and love southern exposure. I grow mostly southern Corn which grows great in New Hampshire. My favorites are Kentucky rainbow , pungo creek, bloody butcher, McCormick blue giant, advent gulch, and big daddy's yellow.
