We are incredibly honored and excited to carry on the legacy of Botanical Interests now that we've acquired the seed company! Curtis and Judy built an incredible brand and the most beautiful packets in the business. Thank YOU all for your support of Epic over the years...we couldn't have done it without you! Keep on growing, Kevin
I would love for them to do a sticker book of the seeds packets they carry so we can use them in our gardening journals or scrapbooks. Right now I cut the envelope after use, but it takes a lot of space in my journal so something smaller would be great (even if not with adhesive).
It would be so cool if the sticker was part of the packet itself, or came inside with the seeds. Lots of different artists could illustrate the seed packets per year. Also, u could use the sticker to label/mark your seedling trays. Give them to children who are learning about gardening. There’s some cool biodegradable inks and stickers too! Anyway, just riffing off of the idea- u are first a seed company not a sticker one! 😅
I'm really in shock! What a surprise announcement! Congratulations! Can there be a follow up video with some of the farmers who sell to the seed company to find out more about the unique things that have to happen to grow and harvest plants for seed? I'm especially interested in how they create hybrid seeds.
I would kinda like to see that stuff too. Seeing those big commodity bags of seed in the warehouse got me wondering about what's involved in harvesting seeds on that scale.
I just found out there are only a couple of suppliers that send seeds to every company. I didn't want to believe it. How crushing. What about the tiny expensive weird awesome companies with random medicinal weeds that claim they've been working on them themselves?
The last part brought a tiny tear to my eye. Having watched your videos for a few years now (back when people were wondering if you were one of the property brothers😂 - so glad that doesn’t happen anymore), it’s a joy and privilege to be able to “journey” with you and see how much you have worked hard, persevered, enjoyed what you do, involved so many new people, reached for your goals, the wins and the lessons learnt… I really look forward to continuing this epic adventure with you on UA-cam. Thanks and congrats Kevin and team!
I have to admit up until fairly recently I still thought he was. Lol, we have not had cable in over a decade, so I hadn't watch HGTV until I was in the hospital. I'm sure they have a common ancestor.
I love Botanical Interests. They were one of the first seed companies I bought from when I started to get into gardening. I love their packaging. It's so pretty and also loaded with information. I'm so glad the company will continue on. They are one of my favorites to buy from and to daydream while looking through their seed catalog.
Kevin, you are a natural presenter! This was so interestingly informative, but even more so because of how you effortlessly pull everything together. Thank you.
What I love about Botanical Interests is the art on the seed packet. It is the main distinction and what makes them so unique! Thank you for this tour and congratulations!
Thank you for this look - Please pass along to the folks doing the work here at Botanical Interests my thanks for letting us look at what their workplace is like and what all the tasks that need to be done are! Everyone is working very hard there and I thank them for their time for you to share this with us.
How Its Made Epic Gardening Edition was such a treat! Thank you for taking the time to create this. The art vault is an under-appreciated part of the business that I'm glad you highlighted
I absolutely agree! I immediately knew this video was right up my alley! But your description of this as How It's Made Gardening Edition 😄 is epic itself, it gave me a wonderful laugh! ✨
Congratulations on your acquisition of Botanical Interests! BI is one of my favorite seed companies and I adore their artwork. One suggestion, I’m sure I’m not the only one that would love to purchase prints of the artwork for home decor. Once again, congratulations!
this is my favourite vertical integration M&A story of 2023. Been a fan for a very long time and I'm sure you will do great things via Botanical and more.
I am so excited for you! I LOVE Botanical Interests. I used to be a buyer for a garden center, and Botanical was my favorite seed company. Besides having terrific seeds, they were just a pleasure to work with. And thank you for your UA-cam channel. I discovered you about a year before you bought your new place, and you are such an inspiration!
I grow heirloom seed, super rare stuff. Winnowing by hand is a chore .. would love to get one of those tables .. would love to grow 8x the seed I'm growing now, too 😉
Congratulations, Kevin! What a pleasant surprise! As a Colorado gardener, I've purchased and grown many Botanical Interests seeds. I try to support local businesses as much as possible. I think you'll be a great person to entrust the future of this wonderful seed company to! Cheers!
I have bought Botanical Interest Seeds from all Ace/Cole Hardware stores in San Francisco! They were also my first packs of seeds starting to grow in my small SF apartment! I am so excited for Kevin and everyone at Epic!!! Congratulations!!!💚🌿🌷
This is so cool! As an engineer, I love hearing the company talking about their processes. For example, the sampling where they are following recognized industry practices. I love seeing how it's applied, and that inspires confidence in the company that they really do bave a good product. Keep up the awesome work!
Dude, this is awesome. Seeing you go from that backyard garden to this is truly amazing. You do such a great job you deserve this! I am definitely going to be buying from you!
Oh my goodness!!! I hardly ever comment on you tube but I'm so excited for you guys!!! I love Botanical Garden seeds!!! I look forward to seeing what you all have in store combining Epic Gardening and Botanical! Again congrats and I love all your videos/info!! Thank you!!
Kevin, I’m so proud of you and your team! The mission-driven company you’ve built over the last few years is the perfect case study for entrepreneurs, people who aspire to better our world, and men and women everywhere who may be struggling during these crazy times. Thank you - not only for your hustle, but for sharing your journey with us. Stay Epic!
Hooray for BI and Epic Gardening. It is a joy to see you spread the joy of gardening to all of us. I plant your seeds yearly and always have success from your seeds, information and BEAUTIFUL package art. I will be ordering some of your prints because I love them so much!
Harvesting your own seed can be very rewarding. I harvest most of my own and it cuts costs. That being said I still got 75$ worth of new varieties or seed I failed to collect this year.
I've just come across all this via that algorithm and decided to watch. Very fun, informative, and certainly very solid and now has me rethinking starting seeds for my garden. I might just be sending in an order and I'll have to hang onto this channel now too. 😊
How cool! Just think to when you started this channel, who would have known the impact you would have made, much less to this level. Amazed to see your progression, and can't wait for what's next! As always, thanks for sharing!
What a cool look behind the scenes. As a Marketing Guy by trade, I am very impressed by how smooth the process and updates are as my seeds make their way to me. My second order will be here Friday and I am excited to see what extra surprises come in my second seed order 👊🏻🌻👊🏻
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to watch this! I am so excited, two of my favorite things/companies coming together! I got misty eyed! 😢😂 I know Kevin and the Epic Team are going to ROCK this new venture!
I use botanical interests, I started using them a few years ago when I purchased a packet at my local garden center. Now i also get them online especially for their online only varieties like pumpkins on a stick!! So fun!! The germ rate is phenomenal. Most of the time I would say I get 100% germination, it’s a very rare occasion that I don’t get germination off of one of these seeds. I’m so glad you were able to purchase the business! Congratulations!! 🎉😊
This is so exciting! I think it’s a good fit, both for Epic Gardening and Botanical Interests! I had never heard of Botanical Interests before seeing this video. The publicity is good for the company, and I’m sure the company will be a great source of material for future Epic Gardening videos. Congratulations to all involved!
Kevin was so impressed with Botanical Interests, he brought the company LOL - CONGRATULATIONS. Curtis and Judy and the rest of the team were fabulous, hope we get to see more of them. Fascinating video, thanks for posting :)
Just started my first raised bed garden, all with Botanical Interests seeds, been following Epic Gardening for quite some time and had no idea of the acquisition. That’s so awesome and now I know I have a one stop shop! Congrats Kevin!
Thank you Kevin for giving us a inside look! I’ve thought to myself how do they do seed saving and packaging on a mass scale, plus some tiny seeds get de-hulled, how is that done 🤔 lol ?! I love Botanical Interests, their seeds enabled me to grow some of the most delicious strawberries, lettuces, herbs (tea herbs too) and veggies. Their cut flowers and native flower seed varieties are amazing. Last year for the first time I grew “Indian Summer” rudbeckia, and “Goblin” gaillardia, let me say they thrive in Texas summers just beautifully!
Wow. What an incredible partnership. I'm so excited to see your content. I grew Botanical Interests' cosmos last year and got joy from them the entire spring and summer ... from one packet. What an amazing factory... I'm so glad you are carrying on their legacy and classic style. The art is amazing. Thank you for your channel and all of the wonderful information you share. I hope perhaps you can expand the seed lineup to include north american native plants. I think having native seeds so accessible in those local retail stores would make a huge difference to the ecology of our nation. Again, congratulations. Thanks for all you do.
I love videos like this! The horticulture industry is fascinating to me. Would be cool to see videos documenting some of the seed growers to follow the seed from inception to packet.
Congratulations Kevin! I've watched your channel for many years, and it's amazing to see what someone following their passion can turn into. That was quite inspiring and watching it made want to be a little braver tomorrow in pursuing what I love to do too, as it probably did for many others.
Seriously so excited for this announcement and happy for you! Congratulations!! Most beautiful seed packets on the market + and I didn't realize all the educational content there is inside. Heading to dig through my seed packs right now to check that out
Congrats to you and all the workers at Botanical Interests!! How exciting! I can’t wait to see more videos from inside the company. And I think it’s wonderful Curtis and Judy were part of the video too. Would love to hear an interview with them and how they founded the company as well!
That's amazing news! Congratulations, Kevin and the Epic Gardening team. Also, thank you for giving this tour. I was always curious how they process, sort and pack packets of seed.
Congratulations! 🎉 I always steer folks to this brand for all the wonderful info on & IN the packet…as well as the amazing seed health & beautiful artwork. I hope you will continue to get more and more organic options!🤞😉🌿
Congrats! This is one of my favorite seed companies. I always liked how they took education up a notch with their detailed packets. When I was a new gardener I felt like that helped me be more successful.
I love seeing the process. Botanical Interest is one of the seed companies I suggest to others for great germination so it’s good to see beginning to end. Thanks so much for sharing
As I was watching this tour, I was taken back to my childhood when we used to watch Mr Rogers take us on tours of factories. I second the comments asking for an art book or stickers for our garden journals. Congrats Kevin, this seems like a great fit to expand your Epic adventure. 🎉
The majority of my career to date was corporate retail related and I still have a fascination with the supply chain process after all these years. The supply chain process is far more complex than most realize and seeing some of what goes on at B.I. was very cool. Admittedly much more complex than even I imagined. Thanks a bunch for sharing Kevin...
Hi Kevin! I love Botanical Interests seeds. I've used them for unusual and new to me seeds. So far I've been very happy with them. The artwork on the packets is outstanding! Enjoyed the tour! Congratulations on acquiring this wonderful company!
So are they one step closer to being absorbed by profit at all costs Warren the greedy Buffet? I think all companies should stay private. I was burned by a buyout of one of my favorite companies that now acts like the customer is meant to be bled dry of their money. So, I take buyouts with a time will tell if it was a good thing perspective, regardless of the intentions. Aside from that I prefer buying seeds that are on sale. There are only a few places in my area that have this seed packager. I say packager because they don't make seeds; neither does Migardener, Baker Creek, Burpy, Ferrymorse, e.t.c. The only things that make a difference are selection, quality assurance, realistic quantity to price, and customer service a packager provides. May the best seed sale win.
I have to imagine you've been working on buying the company for a long time but had to not spill the beans early (pun intended) and that it was brutal 😂 congrats on your expanding adventure!!
This was cool and ALL seeds need to be cold. There is 7 cold storage of the world seeds just in case some thing would happen and we all would need seeds
I always love episodes like these where we get to see the people who actually work in the field and create products. Im a youtuber so for me its also so interesting to see how other people aren't as comfortable being on camera which I always forget since I'm on camera all the time. Deff one of my favorite episodes
Kevin. I’ve been watching you since the beginning. I got an email the other day from botanical interest about you acquiring them! So crazy how far you’ve come. Good luck moving forward and growing. I hope to see a lot of the things with the seed company staying but excited to see what you and your team bring to the company. 🌸 ❤
Congratulations Kevin! That’s an awesome acquisition for Epic Gardening! I love Botanical Interests seeds! I’ve ordered seeds from them over the years and purchased the seeds from my local nursery too.
Fun, fabulous and fanatic! Love the art on the packets and I purchase mine at Martin's Garden in Murfreesboro, TN. You are all doing such a great job and Kevin is a "keeper", just like the art on the seed packets.
This is such great news! I have absolutely and exclusively been purchasing Botanical Interests seeds since I began garding 2 - 3 years ago. I have been storing the seeds in different seed packs so I can then cut open the package to read all the good stuff in there! I've been keeping each pack stapled to my gardening journal. Look forward to many more years of seed knowledge and growing! 💚💚💚💚💚
this is cool. they're a great company, I worked at natural grocers for years and they carry the seeds. I have planted many of them and enjoy the art every time. stoked for y'all
I always love to learn about things like this. Of course I imagined a bunch of garden elves or gnomes counting seeds by hand. I hope your business ventures go well. I have never ordered botanical before, will have to give them a try.
Just ordered 45 seed packets to support this! Congratulations to both parties and I am looking forward to learning more about gardening and seed production
As an artist and a gardener, I appreciate you showing where the illustrations come from. I consider the garden to be but another artistic medium through which I can express myself.
I love how you started almost whispering as soon as you entered the "art museum"! Wall calendars (large and small) would be another great way to get more of that amazing art out where it can be seen.
Congrats, Kevin! That news gave me goosebumps! What an amazing addition to your company. Looking forward to getting my hands on more seeds when I'm done with school and ready to turn my home into a homestead. :D
WOW I am very impressed with the growth of Epic Gardening. Congrats to both parties. Hope to see Botanicals in my local nursery here soon in Kansas! Kevin, well played.
Congratulations Kevin! You're much deserving and I'm sure you will have a lot of success! Btw....I'm a customer or Botanical Interests! Now that I know their process, I feel much more comfortable buying more seeds! All the Best!
I always wondered where seeds come from. And I bought sungold seeds last year, and it was $3 CAD for 6 seeds, so counting is really important. But I certainly don't regret it. I turned a bunch of them into pico de gallo and froze it, so I'm enjoying them year round! I buy from a local company, and now I know why there building is so big when the store part is so small! Although part of their building is for starting seeds to sell already started plants for those who prefer that. I have a bay window full of plants so I get enough sun to start things inside, and I'm glad I can. It's very satisfying seeing something start inside from a seed around April, get planted outside in June, and then by the time August comes, be able to eat it!
This is so incredible! Congratulations to you, Kevin, and to the entire team at Epic and Botanical Interests It is such a happy surprise to see two garden brands that we love so dearly become one unified team! I’m so excited for everyone involved. 😁😁😁
Thank you Kevin! This was such an awesome and educational video! The artwork looked very familiar. I looked at about half a dozen of my seed packets and they are from Botanical Interest, and I bought them at my local SF Bay Area Sprouts grocery store.
This news is absolutely amazing, Botanical Interest is my go seed, most of the plants and seeds I buy come from Pikes nursery in Atlanta, Georgia and the carry exclusively Botanical seeds. Even if I don’t need seeds I always stop by the seed wall to study the artwork and of course I leave with more seeds. 🎉🎉🎉Congratulations 🍾
I can't wait to see your catalog Kevin! You have inspired me beyond my expectations. I have a wonderful garden all year here in Camarillo Ca. Thanks for the education!
Kevin- I am so proud of you. 💪🏻I love the seeds and art work, the info on the pkg, etc. I have been using them for four years! I am so excited to see how this goes forward. Educate us all, please. Hugs
Kevin, you’re a natural with style of video. Host-style presentation, felt like an episode of Dirty Jobs! Congrats on this huge milestone 🌱 Sending blessings from the East coast 7a, cant wait for spring!
Love that seed company every spring I always look at their selection of seeds, because I always can find some variety I've either never seen before, or can never find. Plus I live in Colorado so its always good to buy local.
I love Botanical Interest because when I started gardening all the information on the packaging was so helpful and I had great success. As I learned more (thanks to this channel and others), BI offered the best variety for my climate, allowing me to grow more things and experiment with new vegetables. I get BI at Green Street Gardens in the DC metro area.
When I saw the previous video where you mentioned Botanical I googled it and then ordered a few seeds. I think it's good to order from a couple different seed companies for diversity and just to ensure quality. A number of years ago I had started ordering from only one company because they seemed to have the largest selection. One day when going through what I was ordering I noticed how many double packs I was ordering; not because I needed that many plants but because they put so few seeds in each pack and I was finding my germination rates was lower than they stated (don't know if I was suddenly doing something wrong or if seeds were at fault). I decided to go back to multiple companies and I was paying less overall, in many cases getting a few more seeds and my germination rates seemed to straighten out. Hopefully, you will become one of my seed regulars in the future. Congrats on the acquisition.
I guess I know where I’m ordering all my seeds from now on! Congrats Kevin!
Are you guys planning on shipping worldwide in the future tho?
Are you going to mere Botanical Interests into Epic gardening store?
I would absolutely buy a book of the illustrations and the seed information! Will you expand to international markets?
CONGRATS KEV!
I would love for them to do a sticker book of the seeds packets they carry so we can use them in our gardening journals or scrapbooks. Right now I cut the envelope after use, but it takes a lot of space in my journal so something smaller would be great (even if not with adhesive).
Yes!!!!!!! I agree with you 100%. Not only for the journals but also for my seed storage boxes. The artwork is beautiful.
I second this!

I'm especially interested in how they create hybrid seeds.
I would kinda like to see that stuff too. Seeing those big commodity bags of seed in the warehouse got me wondering about what's involved in harvesting seeds on that scale.
You don't want that. It's grown in third world countries and no one wants to talk about that.
Perhaps seeing that may change some of it and I’d like to see and learn about the farmers who grow these seeds third world or not
I just found out there are only a couple of suppliers that send seeds to every company. I didn't want to believe it. How crushing. What about the tiny expensive weird awesome companies with random medicinal weeds that claim they've been working on them themselves?
@@dfreak01 rare seeds (baker creek) has those. However they are expensive and no discounts. If you want sourced seeds from local farmers.
CONGRATULATION ON THE PURCHASE & taking the product to the next EPIC level! Fantastic tour on where & how seeds get packaged! 🌱
Thank you Charles!
Thank you Jules!
I seriously was wondering if he was 🤣
I have to admit up until fairly recently I still thought he was. Lol, we have not had cable in over a decade, so I hadn't watch HGTV until I was in the hospital. I'm sure they have a common ancestor.
I had the same reaction. So well deserved, congrats all around.
I love Botanical Interests. They were one of the first seed companies I bought from when I started to get into gardening. I love their packaging. It's so pretty and also loaded with information. I'm so glad the company will continue on. They are one of my favorites to buy from and to daydream while looking through their seed catalog.
Me, too.
Thank you very much .. your words are very kind.
Kevin, you are a natural presenter! This was so interestingly informative, but even more so because of how you effortlessly pull everything together. Thank you.
He really is.
I wonder if they do an art book? That would be so cool. I would buy it.
Congratulations on the new venture! I'll check my local nursery and look forward to supporting you!
We are looking into it!
I'd love to see that too! Maybe add all the variety care information, as an encyclopedia of both art and plants!
I would like to see if any plant has changed over the years, and also see of that too was reflected through the art. That would be interesting.
Love love love coloring book concept 😍
What I love about Botanical Interests is the art on the seed packet. It is the main distinction and what makes them so unique! Thank you for this tour and congratulations!

Exactly my thought! I would watch more narratives by Kevin
As an entrepreneur and a gardener, I think this is doubly cool. Can't wait to see how these two worlds can mutually build each other up.🤩
Thank you!

Appreciate your support!
Congrats! This is one of my favorite seed companies. I always liked how they took education up a notch with their detailed packets. When I was a new gardener I felt like that helped me be more successful.
Holy crap! What an amazing step on your journey! Congratulations Kevin! Gloes to show, never underestimate what one can accomplish!
I just subscribed to you! You have a great channel! BTW I also have a gardening channel! 🌱🌱
Congratulations Epic Gardening on the acquisition. You guys have done a marvelous job and we are rooting for you Kevin and the whole Epic Team!!!
Truly amazing. Not many words can describe how the emotions must have felt during that last scene at BI in the video.
Judy and I were on the edge of crying!
I love seeing the process. Botanical Interest is one of the seed companies I suggest to others for great germination so it’s good to see beginning to end. Thanks so much for sharing
Wow it’s incredible how much effort goes into each packet of seeds! Really great video
As I was watching this tour, I was taken back to my childhood when we used to watch Mr Rogers take us on tours of factories. I second the comments asking for an art book or stickers for our garden journals. Congrats Kevin, this seems like a great fit to expand your Epic adventure. 🎉
Congrats for the acquisition! Glad to see your mission to educate.
Congratulations to the Epic Gardening team!
I gotta say this is fascinating. I've never thought about how much goes into being a seed company.
The video is 20m long... It was uploaded 10 minutes ago and your comment is 7 minutes old... Did you even watch it?
@@Luis-gz3oo I watched the entire thing. I commented as I was watching the seeds being sorted in receiving. Thanks for your concern
I have bought their seeds for 6 years… beautiful packaging, great germination, good company.
Thank you!
Congrats Kevin and all involved!! You're doing wonderful things not only for your business, but for us growers as well. Best to all of you!!
I have to imagine you've been working on buying the company for a long time but had to not spill the beans early (pun intended) and that it was brutal 😂 congrats on your expanding adventure!!
Over 6 months!
I remember watching you in a small garden with your raised beds and look at you now. You have created such a fantastic business. Congratulations.
You should've said "MY seed company" 😉
Kevin. I’ve been watching you since the beginning. I got an email the other day from botanical interest about you acquiring them! So crazy how far you’ve come. Good luck moving forward and growing. I hope to see a lot of the things with the seed company staying but excited to see what you and your team bring to the company. 🌸 ❤
Thank you so much, Aras!
💚💚💚💚💚
This is awesome to hear!
this is cool. they're a great company, I worked at natural grocers for years and they carry the seeds. I have planted many of them and enjoy the art every time. stoked for y'all
I always love to learn about things like this. Of course I imagined a bunch of garden elves or gnomes counting seeds by hand. I hope your business ventures go well. I have never ordered botanical before, will have to give them a try.
Thanks Kevin and the team at Botanical Interests for this amazing video. I LOVE the artwork on the seed packets. Blessings to all from Trinidad.
Just ordered 45 seed packets to support this! Congratulations to both parties and I am looking forward to learning more about gardening and seed production
that's awesome and congratulations i will be looking into some botanical seeds this spring i wish you all great success.
As an artist and a gardener, I appreciate you showing where the illustrations come from. I consider the garden to be but another artistic medium through which I can express myself.
It's so crucial!
Congratulations Kevin, I remember before the homestead and to see this makes me so happy for you. Great job brother!!
I have been buying Botanical Interest seeds for years and had no clue they had more info on the inside of the packet. Learn something new every day.
I love how you started almost whispering as soon as you entered the "art museum"! Wall calendars (large and small) would be another great way to get more of that amazing art out where it can be seen.
Smart idea!
I appreciate you!
Congratulations to you, Kevin, and to the entire team at Epic and Botanical Interests
It is such a happy surprise to see two garden brands that we love so dearly become one unified team!
Love hearing this Lisa!
Absolutely love the behind the scenes of a seed company. Thank you so much for going through the effort of creating this video!
I love that you are apart of this now!! You have my full support as a gardener. You’re great Kevin!
Thank you!
Congratulations to you all! How exciting for Kevin! I've loved botanical interests for a long time!
Wonderful!
Fully half my garden is Botanical Interests, its so nice that I was able to support the channel I enjoy watching so much :)
Botanical Interests! Awesome. I've bought their seeds many times. It's fun to see behind the curtain. Thanks for the presentation.
Congrats on this huge milestone 🌱
Sending blessings from the East coast 7a, cant wait for spring!
Thank you Russel!
How lucky you are to have gotten this tour! Thanks ever-so-much for this EPIC video!
That was a brilliant tour behind the scenes.
Wish more companies would share like this! Continued success to you.
Thanks Betty!
@@epicgardening soo are you also foreshadowing with that Xtreme Gardening fleece you were sporting at the end of the vid? 🤔🤔🤔
