Former Boeing Everett here... will never tire watching the Queen of the Sky as she does low passes. The sound of those 4 huge turbofan engines is hypnotic. 747 are built at Boeing Everett Mega-Plant. You can actually feel that the aircraft isn't carrying much weight. You guys certainly have some participants at your airshows ; Mosquitoes, 747s. Great stuff! Best Regards, England.
Give the big bird a little more credit than that. I think the wings have the strength to withstand 600 mph at a few hundred feet. It's been documented that a 747SP (N4522V) exceeded it's designed endurance of mach 0.92 (over 700 mph) during a dive incident from 41,000 feet in 1985, possibly going supersonic. Which did cause some structural damage, but the wings remained in place, and the plane landed safely.
LateNightCable - check out what happened during the Flight of BA 2069 on 28/12/2000. That plane, by all accounts and measure provided by Boeing, should have lost it's tail plane at the very least. We, however, survived !
I thought a dc9 back in the 1970s did a low dive speed and went mach 1.01 for a brief moment but some control surfaces were ripped away and the t tail suffered structural damage as well.
Some years ago, at the Abbotsford Airshow 40th anniversary they had a 747 make 3 passes. low and slow dirty, then clean up and pull hard up under full throttle, low and slow clean, and high speed with a nice pull up. best part of the whole show
She definitely deserves her place in the history of aviation with on the other end of the spectrum Concorde. At the time of development the world really thought that the supersonic age was around the corner. The 747 was designed with cargo loads in mind and ended up being a smashing hit as a passenger jet. Looks wise.....THEY BOTH LOOK AWESOME 💪
Back in '89, at 18 years old, my very first flying experience was onboard a 747, TWA nonstop service STL to HNL to begin my Navy career in Pearl Harbor. A day and a flight I will never forget. About 9 hours if memory serves. Smoked about a half pack of cigarettes.
IMO the best passenger aircraft ever built. Flew from Narita, Japan to Chicago nonstop, took apx 11 hours. Never got uncomfortable or achy, had plenty of legroom in coach class.
Agreed. Flew London Heathrow to Seoul Korea. No ache, discomfort. Loads of room in economy, and found the ride to be very stable. By contrast, found the 777-300ER more cramped and noisy from Sydney to Abu Dhabi.
Truly spectacular like they say they don’t make them like they used to look at the poor build quality of Boeing today because maximizing profits for shareholders is top priority yet the 747 had stellar performance since 1969
Hi, would you mind if I featured this video in my aviation channel? You will of course be credited both in the description and in the video itself. Thanks
The plane would have probably been ripped apart by flying too low at a higher speed. I thinks the 747 can only fly 250 knots under 15000 feet or somewhere in that ballpark
@@federruchi6147 It's not because it will be ripped apart, there's just a 250 knot speed limit for all aircraft under 10,000 feet unless given special permission to go faster which this 747 was definitely exceeding.
Yeah but its nowhere near cruising speed. It must not exceed 250 knots below 10000 feet. The cruise speed is twice as that so around 90% the speed of sound
The coolest passenger jet ever made... Sad to hear it stopped being manufactured a few months ago and it's slowly getting replaced by modern alternatives (Though they're nowhere near as cool as the Jumbo ever was!)
Meanwhile in the cockpit “Too low! terrain!, pull up, pull up, pull up, overspeed, terrain, dont sink, Too low, pull up!”
overspeeding and dont sink at the same time
Popping out the alarm break does the job
You forgot bank angle
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m fucking crying lmfaooooo
hands down the best looking passenger jet of all time. Just something about those curves!
Mmmmm...
...curves....
My vote will be the L-1011 for the best looking passenger jet!
The 727 had some great lines.
Concorde number one overall but 100% the 747 best looking large aircraft. Just my opinion though.
@@C_and_C... and it is the fastest subsonic aircraft
Thirty-seven years a structures mech and the 747 is my favorite to work on. Such an amazing aircraft. Cadillac of the skies.

*presses overhead button...*
how many times did you make the ‘mile hi club’?
Enough about us,what about the plane?🤣
She is still the Queen of the Sky. She started the Jumbo Jet age and will be flown for another 30 years.
Cool👍
*A380 has left the chat!*
No one will take the name "The queen of the skies"! Only the 747 deserves that name! She will always be a legend!
A380 is faster than 747. you can check it on internet
ye a380 the king and 747 the queen lol

That the 747 is being retired is so sad. She's a legend.
They are still flying.. 747_800
Hi, liar.
The 747 is without argument, the greatest plane ever made. Beautiful!
747 the true Cadillac of the skies. Amazing aircraft that practically flies itself.

Same, none better IMO
Very cool, especially the cockpit commentary. I read somewhere that the 747 was the fastest passenger jet in service, as it flies near Mach 1.
the fastest ever was the concorde... maximum speed over mach 2

Crazy, leaves very little room for error
how are you everywhere
You don’t fly, do you. That was not even slightly crazy. There was an enormous margin for error, windshear and multiple engine failures.
