Howard did that song WAY better. It is his song. Difference between Howard and Jesse, Howard did Jesse’s songs BETTER. Not the other way around. And I like Jesse honestly. Howard is just on another level.

So fucking cool to hear the crowd singing Reject Yourself. Never in a million years did I ever think I’d be sitting here watching them play this live. THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this with us!
I waas shocked this wasn't one of the songs they took on when Jesse really started to dive into Howard material. It's got all the lyrical content I'd assumed he'd cling to. Looks like they see how low key popular it is. I'm so happy!!!!! One of my all time favorites
@@jacepons3746 I don't remember when it was but my nerdy 14 year old self kept notes. probably the co headliner with LOG in 2007 or their headlining "no fear" tour in 2007. both times in detroit.
I know Jesse said that, besides the huge hits they have to play, he feels he needs to truly relate and feel the lyrics of Howard's songs to feel comfortable playing them. With that said, this song lyrically sounds like something Jesse himself would write. The call to action in spreading love and positivity to those who need it is thematically something Jesse explores a lot.
Adam asked Howard to keep the theme of Jesse’s songwriting. He wanted KSE to be about positivity and spirituality. The second self titled album with Howard, he was given more freedom to write about negative things. And it shows. That album is not the message they usually portray lyrically.
@@joshfrankem4372 Yeah. That's probably why they rarely play anything from that album besides Reckoning. I like that album, but Reckoning, A Light In a Darkened World, and In a Dead World are the only ones I can imagine Jesse relating to. I didn't know Adam asked Howard to keep those themes for the first two albums he did with Killswitch, but it makes sense and I'm glad he did it. I remember Jesse on the first DVD saying he was a fan of the fact that they stayed positive as well and that it would have been weird if Killswitch became something negative.
I have no idea why, but whenever a song's root is a major 3rd above the lowest note (such as E minor over a tuning of drop C like it is here), it works SO WELL for me. It opens up some really cool riff posibilities.
Makes me feel good as a guitarist that I never let up on picking all downstrokes on the main riff for Reject Yourself (especially after seeing all the alternate picked youtube covers)
I've been trying to do this as all downstrokes as well, but I wasn't sure if it was downstrokes or alt picked, it's a bit hard to tell myself from the video - he's definitely downpicking all of it though right?
As Daylight Dies is such an underrated album because it followed AOJB and TEOH which are both seen as benchmarks in the history of metalcore. For me, though, ADD is Killswitch at the peak of their creative powers. Break the Silence is a masterpiece that I rarely see others talk about!!!
Sorry, last comment from me for a while I swear lol. Other than a song or two from As Daylight Dies, I think the last one I really wanna see them do is Take This Oath but with Jesse & Howard. They did it maybe 1 time back in the day when the song first came out, but they both haven’t done it together since then. To my knowledge anyways. Once again, THANK YOU for sharing this! Reject Yourself was one of the first songs I learned on Guitar. One of, if not, my favorite KSE song.
Honestly, Take This Oath would have fit in perfectly between The End of Heartache and The Signal Fire when Howard was singing a few songs with Killswitch on tour.
Why live debut multiple Howard songs on this tour and NOT have him on for them??? HOW can't you have Howard on for the live debut of Reject Yourself?? HE WAS BACKSTAGE! I don't get it
Because his instrument is part of his body and he already had to cancel one show due to vocal issues. He can do 2-3 extra songs a night as a freebie for his old band mates and the fans but anymore than that and it gets complicated from both his vocal side of things and a business side of things.
Indeed, I was afraid he’d miss my show tonight but he delivered and sounded great. I’ve watched live footage of him where his voice is breaking but he sounded amazingly well tonight.
I know it's cool with the original singer Howard jones who created all of these great songs from many albums from the very beginning of killswitch engage, still feels weird to have some other random that's good obviously but not as good as Howard , performing making money of his personal written album singles.
@@noahgossett6134 I honestly can’t tell if you’re being serious or not… Considering half the band is from my home state and the fact that I know Mike D personally, Jesse is the original singer.
Never thought we’d see the day that they’d perform Reject Yourself. This is so awesome. Amazing tour so far and welcome back Joel!

Love that they're playing more from As Daylight Dies.
Probably their second best album after Alive Or Just Breathing, imo.
16 years after As Daylight Dies they finally did this live?!

BREAK THE SILENCE?????? PLEASE
Now that would be epic.
Break the silence sooooooo underrated. I was totally mindblowed when I didn't find any live video with this song. Even today it still the same😮
How have they not played this sooner? By far the best song on the album.. (obviously just in my opinion)
