I was looking forward to this performance because of these two talents and this most magnific song composed in big part by Steve Porcaro, but it was a let down... Collier was probably not able to hear himself well (just a guess, despite his headphones on) and he sang of key at the beginning, then his voice didn't project and "served the song" at all. The sound and color of his voice do not give the song justice , unfortunately... Still a fabulous artist but it didn't work for me here. Thank you for sharing though.
it could be a reharmonization by Jacob Collier, but it is a very different way of doing the song, making feel like a different song rather than a tribute to the original. I suppose I could see why you dislike this recording.

I'm a vocalist myself and love complex harmonies and Collier is so good at this but what I disliked here is the sound of his voice overall, and possibly the sound engineer wasn't doing a great job leveling his voice with this orchestration etc. Just didn't work for me but I know all too well how hard live performing is.
