Always look forward for new episodes. Great production quality, plus having somebody closer to my age as a host is MUCH easier to watch. A host who seemingly has lived through all generations of video games, I can see how effort and experience are put into each upload.

Aye....definitely. us who have lived thru all generations (first console experience was my older now disowned [her choice] sister's atari vcs heavy 6!) From there at 7 i had a master system and onwards to every sega. I got a 360 but after that i gave up as can't see the 'jump' in power per say.... so it is nice for joe to be the host as old and experienced as he is. I asked him to be my valentine lol.....no response (of course im joking /trollin....)

However, regardless of any feeling I had to NEED to enjoy my gift, I liked it a lot. Then to my surprise, it already made it to the video! And I'm happy to see that you liked it as much as I did all those years ago.

It took a while after Daves departure for me to realize that Game Sack had a bit of a Siskel & Ebert-thing going. With them Siskel was more into the details and Ebert more into the overall, and with Joe he's more into the technicals like framerates and resolutions whereas Dave was a bit more forgiving

New experiences is true, nice change of pace to talk about games we haven't heard about a million times already. ;) Hell I just called it Info-games for the longest time, they could still do that like Namcot becoming Namco. Darn voice actors, they should just be immortal and never die.
There was definitely an increase in boredom for 3D platforming, a lot of levels that exist but aren't really fun to run through. Some definite growing pains bringing platforming from 2D to 3D and it took a long time in hindsight.
Looks like Scaler had a strong design behind it since there's actually some kind of move set, powerups, and level design that actually reinforce each other. Story seems thin but oh well.

Awesome to finally see Bugs Bunny: Lost in Time get covered here, though I'm disappointed by the lack in coverage. I've found myself playing it over and over again and despite some of the backtracking due to how the special abilities are obtained throughout the game. The kick by itself is only useful to activate pirate wheels and levers as well as open chests and break ACME boxes. Enemies have to be jumped on before you can kick/roll into them. It's my all-time favorite game on any platform. Mel Blanc's archived Yosemite Sam voice lines sound good in the game.
I learned once that there's a glitch in the Medieval Times level "What's Cookin, Doc?" that allows you to get an infinite amount of golden carrots. Once you tire out the guard and kick him to temporarily lay him out, don't collect the carrot that appears. Lay him out again and another carrot pops out.
It's pretty neat that each world has one level that strays away from the theme of the era (those unlockable via golden carrots). The levels are all neatly designed even if Magic Hare Blower is just an extended and altered version of Wabbit on the Run (and rather gimmicky just to have more blowing fans included). What's also kind of weird is that the final level goes by two names, Train Your Brain in the overworld and Space Speedway in the loading screen.
Speaking of the loading screens, it's pretty neat that a good chunk of them come straight from classic episodes of the past like Rabbitson Crusoe, Assault and Peppered, Knight-mare Hare, and Hare-way to the Stars just to name a few. Hopefully you'll revisit this game once you get used to the camera and the timing of your jumps.

The obscure 3D platformers that come to my mind is "a hat in time". I'm pretty sure the N64 has a lot of 3D platformers that most people never heard of.
Maybe the mirror's edge games, the dishonored games, and the portal games since they do have platforming elements. I believe Prince of Persia on the Dreamcast is an obscure 3D platformer, I am not sure since I have played it only once for a bit around 20 years ago.

There's no 360 version of Metal Arms. The one on the 360 marketplace is just the OG Xbox version since it was backwards compatible.

    • @TehNewParalyzer
      @TehNewParalyzer 4 роки тому

He probably means it's for sale on the Xbox 360. If you google the game 360 comes up as one of the platforms. While it is just the OG Xbox version it's still a game that's obtainable on the console.
Unless he thinks the game is enhanced by being a 360 version and not "a game that just runs better" due to the hardware.

Maybe I should recommend Looney Tunes Sheep Raider on Playstation, Kirby’s Blowout Blast on 3DS, Rayman Raving Rabbids 1 on Nintendo DS, Taz Wanted on PS2 and Gamecube, and New Super Lucky’s Tale on Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Def check out MDK2, You play with a different character every level (3 characters total).
    1. Kurt is 3d platforming mixed with 3rd/ 1st person shooting.
    2. Max is basically high octane action and gunfire but also some platforming, some levels have him using a jetpack.
    3. Dr Hawkins is more puzzle based but is kinda low on the platforming spectrum.
Honestly one of my favorite games and you should realy try it out to see if it fits your criteria for obscure 3d platformers!

I recommend Zapper, Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars, Super Magnetic Neo, Starshot: Space Circus, Rocket: Robot on Wheels, Vexx, Spyro: A Hero's Tail, and Sonic: Lost World.

I'm excited about the new Crash Bandicoot game coming out for the Switch. From what I gather, it's a direct sequel to the 3rd game from back in 1998, and now that I finally have a pro controller I'm really looking forward to it.

I used to play the gamecube version of Metal Arms!!! That game was pretty fun! Not the greatest multiplayer but I do have some fond memories of playing against friends in it.

Tork on the OG Xbox is well worth a little look. Lovely little platform game with great graphics and sound

Glad you liked Billy Hatcher. It's Sega, Gamecube and Yuji Naka. Of course it's good. I never heard of Scaler. Might have to get that. I did have Dr. Muto and was also disappointed. It had a lot of potential... that didn't pan out

I loved Duck Dodgers back in the day, and I remember Nintendo Power and some other mags raving about it for what that's worth. I think most people don't talk about it because of the distribution - I don't think it was sold in stores. I could be wrong, but I recall reading about how it was one of those late releases like Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine that only showed up in rental shops like Blockbusters. I know my sister and I only played it via rentals, and never saw it _for sale_ at any store.
Anyway, this was a great list! I love this series. Game Sack always shows off interesting obscurities, but I think I like obscure 3D Platformers the best. It's cool to see Joe discover stuff like Billy Hatcher and Scaler that really surprise him in a good way.

Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars on the Wii seems pretty obscure which is sad.
Same with Puppeteer on the PS3 + PS2's Evil Twin: Cyprien's Chronicles and perhaps the furry fever dream, Neopets: The Darkest Faerie

You should mention Croc: Legend of the Gobbos next time, great combo of Mario 64 and Sonic

I'm sure some have been covered, but here's some random 3D platformer suggestions:
Tail Concerto (PS1), Glover (N64), Gex: Enter the Gecko (N64/PS1), Rayman 2 (Dreamcast), de Blob (Wii), Psychonauts (Xbox), Alice: Madness Returns (360/PS3), Toy Story 2 (Dreamcast), kind of an action-platformer Spider-Man (N64), Tak & the Power of Juju (GC/PS2/XB), and Vexx (GC/PS2/XB).

A flash warning should have been put on this video. The out of bounds bit during Duck Dodgers was really unpleasant being an epileptic :P
