So what are some good Obscure 3D platformers I should check out that weren't in this episode OR in episode 225? Here's that episode for reference - ua-cam.com/video/1nCbxXG837E/v-deo.html
Big Bossman I wasn't paying attention to the video so I randomly looked up during that game's load screen, saw the main character and genuinely thought the game was a licensed 3D platformer from the Chucky franchise. It was very confusing for a moment: what an odd IP and genre combination that would be for a game.
That widescreen mode in Pac-Man World on the PS1 is fascinating. It's not anamorphic widescreen where the TV has to stretch out the image to fill the screen, but instead the game simply seems to be drawing more information in the overscan area of the picture that would normally remain black.
You really should do a video on *Licensed 3D Platformers* or *Obscure Licensed Games.* I can definitely suggest a few, like Scooby Doo! Night of 100 Frights, Transformers (2004 PS2), Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, and The Thing. Preferably the Xbox version of The Thing, the PC version is a direct port of the PS2 version, and, trust me, the lighting and shadow effects on the Xbox version REALLY add to the atmosphere.
Thanks Joe...I’m so happy you continue to make the most awesome episodes. I honestly don’t know what I would do without new Game Sack episodes every two weeks!

Still miss me some Dave some-en fierce. As a Sonic fan, those PacMan games looked really cool. Especially liked the 2.5d worlds. I never gave them a second look back in the day!
I think one of the reasons I love your channel so much is because I can never tell which one of you is talking. That and your perfect awkwardness, no insult! Thanks!
The title sequence and theme music makes this feel like an actual tv show. It has that nice n cozy feel. I can imagine this show being on Tech TV before G4 ruined it.
I still need to pick up Jersey Devil one of these days. I remember renting it back in the day and it was fantastic. With the exception of the camera control(which still doesn't sound like it's *that* bad), it looks like it's held up very well over time.
Sunday Morning + getting stoned + coffee + GameSack is the best combination of things our universe has ever seen. And these stars align almost every week!!! Thank you Joe... thank you..
If you ever do another one of these, I recommend Scooby-doo Unmasked for the GameCube. Very underrated, overlooked, never talked about, but captures the old show so well, and has some of the best control in ever forever!
I had Pac-Man World 1 and 2 growing up. Could never beat the Galaga/Galaxian boss in the first one, but somehow did beat all of 2. Going back to the second one years later made me wonder how I beat it, it just felt so slippery trying to get everything in the home world. Never played 3 though, looks a bit weird compared to the first two games. The rest of the games? I think I've heard of Legend of Kay, but never seen it, nor did I ever see or hear about the remaining games. So, good job on picking obscure games. The episode title is, in fact, truthful.
I have The Legend of Kay on the PS4. I bought it on a wim as I'd never heard of the game until I saw it pop on PS Store as part of the PS2 Classics. I actually liked it and I'm in the process of getting that platinum trophy for it.
Thank you for the episode it was great. I was saddened to hear about the loss of your mother. Over my Christmas break from work I binge watched almost every episode while playing dragon quest 11.
Pac-Man World 2 is one of my top favorite 3D platformers. It's just such a simple yet challenging game. The graphics are simple and very smoth.. Plus I LOVE the music in the game. Music is quite catchy and makes me feel all happy. Any game with real actual orchestra music in it is my favorite type of game music, similar to Super Mario Galaxy.

Dude, that tennis game has 2 extra game ports IN THE CARTRIDGE? Brilliant! I had no idea that feature even existed. What a clever solution for expanding the number of players for a cart game. I always liked the idea of expanding the functionality of a console through peripherals, and especially the games themselves (things like the SuperFX chips, the RAMBUS RAM upgrade for the N64, the Gameboy add-ons, the stacking cartridge functionality of Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles, the Game Genie/Pro-Action Replay, the SNES CD addon and N64 DD that we sadly never got, the 32X and Sega-CD (if only they had wider dev support and fewer FMV titles (an unfortunate trend of the time that I always despised), and of course the oddball peripherals like the Super Scope 6, Power Pad, Power Glove etc. even though they often kinda sucked and/or had few games that supported them). It always seemed like a neat concept that I could buy something that could vastly alter/upgrade the capabilities of my system (one of the reasons I've been a PC gamer ever since I got my first PC back in 2004 and went nuts doing upgrades and adding peripherals, drives and expansion cards). I've always held out hope that Nintendo, Sony, and/or Microsoft would finally design a console with planned future upgradeability in mind, similar to how AMD plans for future CPU support for their existing chipsets so that owners could potentially upgrade their CPU and/or GPU in the future as new technology becomes available to keep up with the latest enhancements to games and graphics rather than having to wait 5+ years just to buy an entirely new console to replace the existing one (though at least they seem more focused on providing backwards compatibility now, which is a huge step in the right direction, as is allowing for drive upgrades). But if they had a modular console with swappable CPU carts/cards and/or upgradeable graphics (like with an open PCIe/MXM slot that you could just insert a special GPU upgrade card into to replace the functionality of the integrated GPU or augment it through Explicit Multi-Adapter support or Crossfire/SLI) it would make keeping up with PC and the latest graphics/gaming tech much easier and extend the life of each console generation. They could still make new consoles every 5 years or whatever, but if they had an option to upgrade the existing models to match the specs of the new ones for a lower cost, that would be an awesome way to retain their customers and eliminate a lot of e-waste, not to mention cut down massively on manufacturing costs since they wouldn't need to produce nearly as many new consoles each generation, at least for as long as it is viable to upgrade rather than replace the existing console (eventually bus speeds and other tech will outpace what can be accomplished via upgrades, but that usually doesn't happen within 5 years; usually more like 10+, especially these days with Moore's Law slowing down and performance gains becoming harder to come by even with new processes/node shrinks and new architectures).
I have all 3 PacMan World games on both PS1/2, and GameCube since I'm a big PacMan fan/collector, and I have to agree the 3rd one while a decent game, just feels odd for a PacMan game like he was shoehorned in at the last minute, and they had to retweek it to be a PacMan game. I had the most fun with the PacMan World 2 on the GameCube due to controller layout, but it has gone up in price in the last few years, so I would go with the PS2 version if you just want to play the game, and save some coin. In fact come to think of it just about all the PacMan games of that era on the N64/GameCube have gone up in price but the PS1/PS2 games for the most part have either stagnated, or dropped in price.

It's interesting to see a good review on Ruff Trigger. Maybe the game would've been way better received if it wasn't released on the same platform as Ratchet & Clank.
I thought I was the only person on the planet who played "Jersey Devil." Sony sent it as consolation after having to return a playstation because it was defective. I really enjoyed it alot and I always thought the ambience of the game manages to be cartoonish and eerie at the same time, which is probably the hardest combo to pull off in my opinion.
I saw Jersey Devil on the cover of a magazine and became obsessed with drawing him, I thought he looked so cool. A few months later the game came out and my dad took me to Funcoland to buy it. I still have my copy. It's a good game but my memories of it are even better.
Pac-Man World? Obscure? How low did you set the bar? That being said, it DID seem odd that we didn't see you insert the games into their consoles this time around.
Still love the show but I gotta say, my first thought when booting this up was "Man I miss Dave...". I really hope you consider finding another sidekick to bring on to the show one day.
Pacman world really brings great memories. God I love that game so freaking much. Oh and the Bucaneer Beach soundtrack makes me always get goosebumps and really emotional. It's seriously one of the best soundtracks ever made.

Ug, Evil Twin... I had that game until someone decided they wanted some of my games more than I do. I tried to buy another copy some years later, but man that game costs a small fortune.
I remember that Jersey Devil game. I played it on one of those PS1 demo discs around 97-98. I remember if you die in that game you end up in this dark abyss. I never knew how to get out of it though.
Ok, at 9:58 we have a PS2 console with a Master Sytem controller connected, and Tales of Zestiria music in the background (a game that is NOT on the PS2, BTW). That's why I love Joe. ^^
Legend of Kay is nor from Capcom but a german company and only distributed by Capcom in the US. Oh yes, not a Japanese nor an American game title to boost. And it is a really good game.
Ah, Jersey Devil, a game I enjoyed during the PSX era. Maybe its the game's atmosphere and characters, because its a pretty flawed title. I 100%ed it once, and its still one of my greatest gaming achievements. The hit detection/collision and camera in the later levels are abysmal. Anyone else who beat this game back in the day deserves a medal. Also, the villains are vegetables, not plants(for the most part), and Knarf, is "Frank" backwards, weird, eh?
I remember playing the demo of Jersey Devil on a PS1 demo disc, and I loved it so much! The atmosphere of the game was amazing, like MediEvil almost, with the music and sound design and graphics, I wish I'd played the full version.
I'm not a game completionist by any means, but nothing kicks in that OCD and makes me feel like I just have to collect EVERY single item no matter how insignificant or unneccessary than a 3D platformer.
Good stuff as always. This was a stroll through memory lane of a lot of bad gameplay concepts. I remember the shift to 3D driving me back to 2D after a few years. The GBA came at the right time for me. Anyway, I agree with wanting to start having fun in a game early on. That's why Okami made such a terrible first impression on me when I tried it on the PS2. It then made a bunch of terrible follow-up impressions as I played it further. I know people like it, and they may have fixed some of the problems with updated versions, but it wasn't for me, at least on the PS2. Regardless, that intro sequence in Okami is one of the worst things I've experienced in gaming.
... I remember this one 3d platformer game that came with a demo disc a long time ago. It had Revenge in its name, but I distinctly remember a lot of lava levels in it...
So what are some good Obscure 3D platformers I should check out that weren't in this episode OR in episode 225? Here's that episode for reference - ua-cam.com/video/1nCbxXG837E/v-deo.html
Game Sack have you ever played glover? Or croc?. Been a fan of the show from like 2012 . Keep it up joe.

Rodea The Sky Soldier, Ratchet and Clank PS4, Pete Sampras Tennis 2

Looney Tunes: Sheep Raider

I remember playing the demo of Jersey Devil on a PS1 demo disc, and I loved it so much! The atmosphere of the game was amazing, like MediEvil almost, with the music and sound design and graphics, I wish I'd played the full version.
Look at the minimal amount of texture warping on that Jersey devil!!! Lolol also never heard of evil twin, very cool!!
Pac Land on the Turbo was far superior.
It's always funny to me that of all the franchises to make the transition gracefully from 2D to 3D, PAC MAN is one of the best.
I love how you had the Master System controller on the PS2 for Legend of Kay! LOL!!!
It’d be cool to see you cover “The Bouncer” on ps2 I’m some form. Love the videos!
crshovveride it's something.
I played it back then.
But i don't remember what it was about.
How was the voice acting?
Malik Josenius can’t remember lol.
Why do you want him to suffer?
Jersey Devil is one of the best games I've ever played.
I'm not a game completionist by any means, but nothing kicks in that OCD and makes me feel like I just have to collect EVERY single item no matter how insignificant or unneccessary than a 3D platformer.
Right??
4 player tennis ?
so you're all alone, jumping from one controller to the next ?
wow, what a work-out, you must have wrists of steel !
I don't know if these are obscure enough but, Tail Concerto and Bomberman Hero are both games I loved back in the day.
Ah when the first 10 min of a Game Sack Episode is about Pac-Man you know its a good nite!
This channel deserves 10 times the subs and views
... I remember this one 3d platformer game that came with a demo disc a long time ago. It had Revenge in its name, but I distinctly remember a lot of lava levels in it...
Wait did Dave not cover evil twin a few vids b4 he left I forget? Also Dragons when?
I remember buying Pac man world a few years ago, I'll say that the developers overdid the Anubis Rex boss fight
