Do you have any favorite bootleg games?
Top Fighter 2000 MkVIII is my favorite bootleg. So glad you covered it!
I was thinking of "Terrifying 9/11" on the Game Boy, but that game's literally just Metal Slug. But it was actually a very ambitious game, the intro had real FMV.
The Resident Evil NES Bootleg demake, as well as some Mario bootlegs that replace the character with Mario's sprite.
I have a certain fondness for The Lion King bootlegs, just because of how ridiculous they can be. For instance, there’s The Lion King V: Timon and Pumbaa, which has some very.....questionable design choices (those death scenes will forever scar your child’s mind!), but it isn’t the worst ever. On the Meh to Okay side of the spectrum, we have The Lion King 2, which has Simba and Mufasa running around in ancient CHINA of all places. This one also managed to get a sequel, the aptly named The Lion King 3. Disney bootlegs in general are a pretty wacky fever-dream subject, but it seems to me that our favorite four-legged Hamlet adaptation has had the widest range of sheer quality here.
I’m not sure it counts as a true bootleg, but given that the cover artwork is a CG nightmare ripoff, I count it as such: Snow White and the Seven Clever Boys. Phoenix Games titles are always terrible, but you might need a shot of something to get through this one. I hate this game, but I also love to make fun of it. Seriously, I am dreaming of the day AVGN tears into this catastrophe!
Yes, but I'm not going to tell you.
Joe, I don't know if you ever read comments anymore. But words can't express the calming joy you bring to so many people. I've watched your videos from 2013 and on, and can't imagine UA-cam without you. Thanks for keeping the Sack going strong. We love you, man.
I have over 250000 signed petitions to bring back the fart sound back to the intro.
Calming joy is a great way to express my feelings about Game Sack as well. If I'm feeling down, I turn on the Console Crunch videos and just let them run in the background and it helps so much. I have no idea why but it really does.
@@forrestredd2706 Right on, brother; I do the exact same thing. Joe is a natural blues-buster. I often fall asleep to Game Sack and wake up hours later right in the heart of a Console Crunch. It would be cool if someday we could plan a big Game Sack fan get-together with Joe.
Heck, I'd love it if Joe just got up on a stage and talked about games for a day to all of us loyal followers.
I always have to laugh when Joe says he has no friends. The truth is he has more than a quarter million!
I've been watching for nearly as long and I would be disturbed if youtube ever lost the Sack.
That Digital Foundry cameo is the greatest
Yesss. My two favorite channels.
Audi breathing to the mic was hilarious.
What, where?
@@retroray6836 at the very end of the video. We see some sort of bootleg edition of Game Sack starring John and Audi.
It is way too awkward , just embarasing to be honest.
Oh my god that's the best ending skit ever.
I saw this episode on a DVD of bootleg game reviews I picked up at the flea market, GameBag
I saw it on VideoPlay Sack the VideoCD using my Sega Saturn. ;)
I saw this episode on a vhs tape my Buddy made using his pirate tv decoder trying to pick up porn
Ian The NES Pink sold me a GameTote and told me it was communism
Everyone during final sketch: Haha, funny
Me, being russian who had Dendy: * flashbacks *
Also me, Brazilian, who had a Polystation.
@@paulocardoso9605 Oh, so that's where my console got a playstation styled controller from, but at least it gives free turbo buttons😄
The brazilian phantom system was beautiful
@@dan_loup This one looks like Atari 7800, huh. We had Atari 2600 with built-in games and it was named Rambo😅
@@EvangeRei well, legend says Gradiente (a Brazilian electronics manufacturer) wanted to manufacture the Atari 7800, but they gave up because the 7800 flopped in the US. So, instead of manufacturing the 7800, they reverse-engineered the NES and reused the molds.
OK, Joe. You got me. Try Game Genie code IEKSSPGA + IAENEPGA on Metal Force to make that boomerang go a bit faster and a bit further. The game has different code to handle the starting throw vs turnaround/return. The first Game Genie code alters the initial throw velocity from 4 to 5. The second code does the same for the return velocity.
15:12
This is actually a broken version of this game, because the "original" version of this bootleg (original bootleg... yes) actually have music and even more animations.
A bunch of broken ROM's of this game can be explained: Pirates copied this game, but didn't dump the game properly to own cartridges, so they missed some content of this game.
Yes, pirates pirating pirates. I am serious right now. :D
"I only lost one round because I put the controller down to make a taco mid-fight." might be my favorite game review line of all-time.
The burning question of course: was it a Rising Taco?
I want to know if there is any truth to the joke.
@@Bobson_Dugnutt_Esq “Powah Geezer!”
There's a similar quote from a review of a terrible fighting game called Kabuki Warriors that comes to mind "I literally won a match by doing nothing but bashing the controller against my ass. I wish I was joking, but the score is officially Kabuki Warriors zero, my ass one."
oh my god that outro skit was fantastic 😂
and this continues the streak of every video about bootlegs mentioning Grand Dad ever since Joel played it
You know, I never thought of it before, but Grand Dad 7 really IS the best dad.
Games we take a look at:
Somari 0:44
Master Fighter 2 2:30
TMNT: The Legend Returns 3:50

The King of Fighters 2000 6:34

Aladdin (Super Game) 13:06

Desert Storm 25:55
Contra Spirits 27:20
Divine Sealing 29:07
(These are meant to be timestamps for the video itself)
The heavy breathing into the mic at the end skit was hilarious.
It's quite incredible at how uncomfortable it made me feel!
Okay so we're gonna be playing KHHHHUUHHHH Ninja Turtles KHHHHUUHHHH on the KHHHHUUHHHH mega sg
i've almost choking so hard because of the mic
And you can still see John's face during that part at certain points which made me lose it
Yall have NO IDEA how long I've been waiting for Game Sack to cover bootlegs. YESSSSSSSSSS
Bootleg Game Sack skit was also amazing :)
Joe's attempt to read in Spanish cannot be lost in time. 19:38 "La gu-erra del golf-fo" is my new ringtone
La güerrrrrra del golffo
He tried to say "War of the Gulf" but ended up saying "Blonde of the Gulf".
Güerra
This video even has a bootleg quality ending. Welcome the world of video! 😁
haha! That pronunciation of "La Guerra del Golfo" made my day
lol that ending. cool to see a digital foundry colab
A solid 8 for your "La Guerra del Golfo" pronunciation. You're such a trooper, Joe.
The best part of every other Sunday is a new episode of Game Sack...especially when still awake at 2am EST 👍
3 am for me lol
yeah before I watched gamesack I had zero interest in game sack. Now Im addicted to it it makes me feel calm which is nice after a whole forever of not feeling calm
Lol same.
2pm for me
Goddamit that John Linneman and Audie Sorlie cameo at the end! XD Well played guys *thumbs up*
Is this the first “bootlegs” episode? Well, better now than never! 😁😅
There was the "Unlicensed Games" episode which featured some Bootleg games, but also had games made by actually more capable and motivated developers that just happened to not get an official license of the console manufacturer due to one reason or another.
Happy (early) 10th anniversary, Game Sack! Here's to 10 more years worth of games inside the sack!
Yours truly, a follower since late 2013.
That 'fixed' Sonic for NES conversion is INCREDIBLE! I wish Sega had done this in the 90s.
It's a novel game for the NES, but why would Sega have wanted their mascot on a rival console? Unless they wanted to show just how superior they were!
I lost it completely at:
"WELCOME
THE
WORLD
OF
GAME
A
GAME
END"
Bootleg manufacturer boss: “hey did you put the story in that placeholder at the beginning before we shipped out today?”
Worker: “.....sure did...” *sweats profusely*
WHAT YOU SAY?!
Joe, full version of Hammer Team's Aladdin for Famicom really exists, but it was too rare to find him. Other pirates porting Aladdin on multi-game cartridges removed most of the music and background animations. And that editions were more often on cartridges. That's why Aladdin looks like visually incomplete.
UPD: Dendy sketch suddenly made me laugh. It was like: "Joke 'bout post-Soviet console, what?"
That was unexpected. Thank you. 😁
I absolutely love the way you said "La guerra del golfo"
Joe, as a Hispanic man, I will bestow you the rank of honorary Hispanic too. Your pronunciation of La guerra del golfo in 19:38 was something otherwordly.
These are the actual "Nintendo" games I grew up with without having a single clue they were bootlegs until years and years after.
I like when Joe tries to pronnounce Spanish so badly lol
We've been watching the Sack all day and a 2:01 am new episode drops?! Alloverit
Those scene transitions are awesome. I appreciate the high quality editing and presentation. Joe knows how to keep things fresh while maintaining the familiar format. Cheers to the Sack!
"Grandad 7... thats the best dad" killed me.
Was so weird seeing War in the Gulf using the Captain Planet engine. Never thought anyone would use that for a bootleg! The Power Blazer bootleg was pretty much just Power Blazer, so that was a bit more obvious.
3am here in Brazil, thanks for saving the rest of my night! Been doing a Game Sack marathon these last couple weeks, really well worked and entertaining videos :)
Same! Greetings from Rio Grande do Sul.
Same! Greetings from Espírito Santo.
@@MaxwelThuThu Hey man, I think I know you from somewhere... Are you the guy that made that super Mario ping pong vid or something like that?
@@ParanoidThalyyMVS I don't think so... maybe you remember me as the creator of super kat's run brothers super show
The way you pronounce "War in the Gulf" (Guerra en el golfo) in Spanish sounded more like "The blonde of the Gulf" (La güera del golfo), hahaha. Cool video!
I was watching Craig Stadler highlights at 2 AM and here this comes. I'm okay with that. Basically the same thing.
Think you can get it in mine?
19:37 Holy shit hearing Joe speaking in spanish is something I was not ready for
I'm gonna start watching Game Hack. Yes, it's a pixelated mess with low production value, but at least it has two presenters. You should get someone in your area to co-host with you.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that Lion King bootleg where Simba HANGS HIMSELF if you get a game over.
When the world goes to complete shit and all is lost at least I know deep down, in Colorado, Joe is masterfully at work making sure that 2am EST Sunday deadline is met.
GameSack is one of the best video game channels out there. Thank you so much for continuously delivering awesomely entertaining stuff in these difficult and harsh times of an uncertain future. Greetz from Germany.
What a great and unique video! I’ve never seen one purely dedicated to bootleg games. Great work as usual!!!!
If there's ever a Bootleg Games 2, please include Kart Fighter. I can't even describe it, you just have to experience it
That ending skit took me straight back to UA-cam circa 2008
That outro was fan-freaking-tastic. More of that, please!
John and Audi at the end were hilarious! Great video!
A bootleg Game Sack at the end, fucking classic! Those swim goggles put it over the top!
Please, PLEASE do an episode that is just one long skit! This episode's outro had me wheezing!
By the way there are some, like for example the one where Joe tells us how to clean console cartridges (if you missed it).
Game Sack is the only channel on YT that I've never missed an episode of, and that I rewatch over and over
18:08 Oh my... Michael Joden stopped Ryu's Shinkuu Hadouken with a simple kick
Who better for the job than the man who stretched his arm to save the world (and also the Looney Tunes world) from big gigantic ugly aliens who stole the basketballing power from 5 other prominent stars.
This is the laughter I needed today. Obviously there are some bootlegs that show effort- but listening to Joe take down some of the... *other ones* was pretty funny, indeed.
That snuff film at the end was delightful.
OMG that ending skit - I am literally howling!! I thought I was having a stroke during the heavy breathing! 😂😂
I feel this series bootlegs for 90s consoles could go on for awhile
Oh, you have no idea
The term "Bootleg" originated in the days when Liverpool, England was a primary trading port handling much of the imports and exports for the North of England. Smugglers, seeking to avoid paying import duty, would surreptitiously offload their wares in floating barrels near the mouth of the Mersey, near Bootle where they were brought ashore. The floating barrels became known in the local slang as "eggs" and thus a consignment of unofficial merchandise became known as a "Bootle Egg", eventually shortened to "bootleg".
"I cannot afford this item at the proper price. Do you have a Bootle Egg?"
To think it'd eventually lead to The Great Boot Leg, and later, Crash Bandicoot in sexy Prada boots.
LMFAO that ending skit was the sheit, you never disappoint with those Joe! Also, it really is nice to know that you have acquaintances with DF!
You're the best Joe. I've been subbed for almost 8 years and you've never put out a bad episode
That's some pretty impeccable Spanish pronuncification.
"Continuously Continuously Continuously" -GameSack 2021
I bought a dedicated handheld retro game emulation device, and they came with well-known bootlegs.
I really enjoyed the cameo sketch with John and Audi. These clever stingers are a highlight of this show. Thanks for making me laugh :)
The skit in the end was brilliant
I'm most impressed not by the games but by Joe's transition wipes.
Isn't this GameSack's 1st video on bootlegged games? Can't wait!
fun fact... did you know?
Somari in Italian means ''donkeys''
Metal Force looks like my kind game. Great list! I do love me some bootlegs.
Your comment was rigged from the start 😮
We got John Riggs here!
Buzz and Waldog was made by the same developer and is as good.
@@Urist_Mythrilforged a.k.a. _Koko Adventure_ (original Korean title).
Fun Fact:
Their is an MMC3 hack of this game, for those looking to put it on either a basic flash cartridge or making your own repros.
19:37 ¨la guerra del golfo¨ I laughed my ass off with your pronunciation
Greatest channel ever. Thank u.
You know you've made it when you have Chales and Lee on your show!
Imagine living in Taiwan in 1990 as a game designer and your boss give you money to make every week a different game but in just 7 days... USE YOR DAMN IMAGINATION Jiànhóng!!
Man this weekend has been like UA-cam Christmas for me. Every one of my favorite UA-camrs posted this weekend...
Good times... Good times...
As a Russian raised on Dendy, I love this.
The guys in Metal Force who stand there tapping their foot ‘til you get close enough to shoot are great. Haha.
If Joe and John could just make a baby it would be the next generation of super human gamers.
males cannot have babies, no matter what the democrats tell you.
@@NirnBootMod They should keep trying damnit! One of these days!
that spanish pronunciation is almost almost there, A bootleg I know is Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon for the Neo Geo MVS
Game Sack keeps surprising with these excellent videos! The "bootleg" Game Sack episode skit at the end with @dark1x and @PC98_Audi was pure genius!!! My favorite so far. That heavy breathing and horrible green screen!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA Well done sirs! Cheers to many more!
An excellent game sack episode is no suprise, its expected lol.joe sets the bar quite hi for himself.
To be fair "it's not as good as Mega Man" would be a massive compliment for most every legitimate developer on the NES
2am already!!!!
Always on point
LOL...John in the end skit was a real surprise for me.
11:58 Some Waixing games could only be played on Dendy consoles rather than legit Famicom or NES because they are programmed with Dendy's specific hardware setup in mind. Running them on regular Famicom / NES would result in either glitch or doesn't even start properly.
ThIS iS bOOtLEg cOmMEnT. If THis a LEgiT cOMeNT it MIghT BE aCThuaLLy rEAdablE. GamE SAck iS beST game. ThaNk YOO foR rEEdiNg cOmmEnT.
That second episode at the end was the highest quality gamesack has ever been.
19:38 Am Spaniard, can totally certify we all speak like that
*th-ertify
la güerra
Dendy was a misspelling of Dandy, which itself was a way to call a game D 'n' D without infringing on the copyright of Dungeons & Dragons. Whoever picked the name Dendy for a Russian NES clone probably had no idea of the D&D connection, though. He just needed a fun-sounding English name.
Thanks for doing this Sack.
Praise the Sack!
Finally after all these years a bootleg games episode. This will be a great series
Not a fan of bootlegs...though I won't admit to not having any in my collection.
This episode could definitely use some Bob Cornhole!
hahahahahha
Found you through cinemassacre back when you and dave were together, i binge watch console crunch at night, awesome thing you've got going here keep at it
I genuinely feel bad for the people who had to grow up playing these.
19:38 ah yes, "la güera del golfo", aka the chick from the gulf
We need a new show from Chales and Lee.
15:16 Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed there were so many titles for this (rather impressive) bootleg. It plays almost as well as the original!
15:44 You've taken a bad version to play! There are two versions of this game: the full version with music and background animations and a cut one without music and background animations! Of course hack fixes music and controls but not background animations. So unless you patch the version which has them you will not get a full pack.
31:00 Wait! Where is Lion King from Super Game?! This is another bootleg port which is miles better than the original release!
I work a lot, and I rarely get to watch Game Sack like I really want. A lot of times, it's gaming or watching Game Sack. When I try to mix it up, I get enthralling in what I'm doing, and I forget about the other. Thankfully, there are times like now when I'm on vacation and can do both as much as I want!
I am off for the summer and am binging Game Sack episodes/gaming like a madman. Thankfully, my fiancee is every bit the gamer I am, and she is fully encouraging my behavior. I have no limits (well, until August 6th), and no regurts! Let the Game Sack binging continue. Seriously, the best gaming channel on UA-cam bar none.
Have to say that bootlegs are probably my least favorite thing to learn about in gaming. It's only somewhat interesting when they come close to looking like a legitimate release.
That was one of the best end skits you've ever did Joe! The only thing missing was a GREENDAWG joke, would've been a perfect 10/10.
The Virgin™ official Aladin port/The Chad Bootleg Aladin Cart
That end bit was one of the best ever!
Figital Doundry :O
