Probably that's why F1 and Moto GP drivers easily can jump into rally car and show very good results with it (Raikonen, Kubyca, Rossi, etc) but even such legend as Loeb couldn't do anything in low level WTCC, never mind higher level of closed circuit racing.
Loeb came third in wtcc and second in le mans. Raikkonen came eighth in wrc. If you actually look into most formula one drivers, they think rally drivers are crazy. Same as rally drivers not being used to high speeds as easily. What the OP was saying is that rally drivers bave more skill in consistency and versatility and this in most real scenarios they are better drivers

But the new DTM Types are about 500.000, since it was way to expencive for the Carbrands and they think about to leave. The new DTM Types from 2012 got more than 50 unit Parts. And an Brandnew GT3 Racecar, what is just about 5sek. slower than DTM cost about. 350.000 BMW Z4 GT3 A brand new WTCC Chevrolet cost 150.000 And WRC Cars are more or less the same like WTCC, only difference is the 4x4. WRC Cars are about maximumm 200.000 Belive it or not.

Try Richard Burns Rally with a decent wheel (you can play with keyboard too, but it's more tricky). In my experience, the video felt surprisingly similar to the videogame.
I really hope those young drivers, especially Novikov (who crashes a lot) sit and watch this lesson in driving. Ogier knows when to push and knows when to not push too hard and the way he adjust for the different surfaces is fantastic.

The driver was very focused and if it wasn't for a couple of times that choose slightly tigher placement than he should i would call this a flawless perfomance , still he was struggling for traction almost the entire length of the track and the few moments he went flatout were amazing to watch . Certainly he is a brave man , trying to tame the bull holding him by its horns , not easy task , not easy at all , three times his car skidded away from its direction but he managed to make it . Definitely worth the time to watch it !!!!!
Rally cars generally max out at around 130mph. Since Monte Carlo is such a tight technical course, I would say that Sebastien never reached above 70 or 80mph and was often as low as 10-20mph.

Da kann schon die kleinste Unachtsamkeit, der kleinste Fehler oder Defekt zur Katastrophe führen. Siehe tödlicher Unfall von Toivonen, der auch der absoluten Weltspitze angehörte. Die unbeschreibliche Leistung dieser Meister auf vier Rädern weiß man erst zu schätzen, wenn man einmal selbst die Nase in den Wind gesteckt und selbst einmal Motorsport gemacht und versucht hat, nur mal ansatzweise schnell eine WP zu fahren. Why aren't there rear cameras mounted inside the car anymore, so you can see the road and the driver fighting with the steering wheel? I really hate these "onboard" views nowadays in WRC.

I challenge anyone to watch this and remain relaxed.... Amazing skills. I do worry though with where the spectators were stood shortly after the start that we may be heading towards a big accident with injures and deaths and and a repeat of the group B banning back in the 80s. Seriously, if we want to keep enjoying the sport as it is today, spectators have to show some responsibility, as ultimately they're the ones who will miss the spectacle the most.

This guy kept control of the the car all the time, unlike the other rally drivers I've seen on other videos who push their cars to the maximum limit without having enough time to recover.
I don't understand French, so to me, when the camera isn't showing them inside the car, it just sounds like the driver is racing through the mountains while listening to French talk radio or something. :P
he doesn't need to "remember" much really , the driver while he is driving is focused on two things , the road ahead and the voice in his helmet saying something like : left , 5 , 80 , opens , right ,3 , 60 tightens into hairpin ...the co-pilot estimates how much info he must "feed" the driver with accordingly

They do recce before the actually rally. Recce is where the drivers & co-drivers spend their time in a day by driving into every stage that the organisers have laid out for the competitors. This is where the driver actually tells the co-driver what to write in the pacenotes.
How can the copilot make his informations always synchronized with the road... without having a look on it, or so rarely... And how can the pilot digest all these informations while driving... It's a mystery for me...
They have two test drives in Etape that will drive that day so driver drives first test woitoh any istruction codriver takes notes on curves condition in second drive he watch in wich section and curve driver is late or to fast in speed selection and angle of entry in curves. After test drivers they try out put misteks out and make stategy that will work. That are notes that codriver reads on real race. Driver is not following every note he just takes when he need take note .
way more conservative than me when i play WRC XD. i get sideways if my eyes get crooked, nevermind the road. but i guess that's what wins the real thing.

how does he remembers what pilot said? Srsly I just play Dirt Rally and after command I forget because i'm so focused on the road and car.

try repeating calls in your head while driving that helps me
You have to try to imagine the road which is incoming, not really what the co-driver said, you know?
he doesn't need to "remember" much really , the driver while he is driving is focused on two things , the road ahead and the voice in his helmet saying something like : left , 5 , 80 , opens , right ,3 , 60 tightens into hairpin ...the co-pilot estimates how much info he must "feed" the driver with accordingly

It's so lucky that the people are still organized this Race. First time to know it was 15 years ago from a video game on PS 1, it's the most monumental race on the world. I'm from Viet Nam.

I wish there was a 24/7 livestream of rally races with the camera inside the car (so you can see the driver driving too). I find that a freakin awesome thing to watch.
I mean, there are 24/7 livestreams of long train rides (and they're actually cool), why not rally races? :)

the do runs before the actual race
They do recce before the actually rally. Recce is where the drivers & co-drivers spend their time in a day by driving into every stage that the organisers have laid out for the competitors. This is where the driver actually tells the co-driver what to write in the pacenotes.
also there are flags along the way to mark what stage they are in.
Psyko there's also a tulip marks on every section of the stage. It can be really useful if the competitors had a problems in the stage.
they do the notes before the rally if its a new stage but most of the stages are the same every year and they know them pretty well

It's a mystery for me...
They have two test drives in Etape that will drive that day so driver drives first test woitoh any istruction codriver takes notes on curves condition in second drive he watch in wich section and curve driver is late or to fast in speed selection and angle of entry in curves. After test drivers they try out put misteks out and make stategy that will work. That are notes that codriver reads on real race. Driver is not following every note he just takes when he need take note .

way more conservative than me when i play WRC XD. i get sideways if my eyes get crooked, nevermind the road. but i guess that's what wins the real thing.
