      with all my love and respect to rally drivers, but this is not true. Rally drivers drive much, MUCH slower than F1 or Moto GP drivers, and much further from the limit. Probably that's why F1 and Moto GP drivers easily can jump into rally car and show very good results with it (Raikonen, Kubyca, Rossi, etc) but even such legend as Loeb couldn't do anything in low level WTCC, never mind higher level of closed circuit racing.

    • @M2orNot
      @M2orNot 7 років тому +239

      Loeb came third in wtcc and second in le mans. Raikkonen came eighth in wrc. If you actually look into most formula one drivers, they think rally drivers are crazy. Same as rally drivers not being used to high speeds as easily. What the OP was saying is that rally drivers bave more skill in consistency and versatility and this in most real scenarios they are better drivers

      Not anymore, the DTM Cars from 2008 and earlyer cost about 1mio. You are right.
      But the new DTM Types are about 500.000, since it was way to expencive for the Carbrands and they think about to leave.
      The new DTM Types from 2012 got more than 50 unit Parts. What made the Cars way more Cheaper.
      And an Brandnew GT3 Racecar, what is just about 5sek. slower than DTM cost about. 350.000 BMW Z4 GT3
      A brand new WTCC Chevrolet cost 150.000
      And WRC Cars are more or less the same like WTCC, only difference is the 4x4.

Man muss sich das immer wieder vor Augen halten: Hier wird absolut am Limit gefahren, manchmal sogar etwas darüber. Da kann schon die kleinste Unachtsamkeit, der kleinste Fehler oder Defekt zur Katastrophe führen. Siehe tödlicher Unfall von Toivonen, der auch der absoluten Weltspitze angehörte. Die unbeschreibliche Leistung dieser Meister auf vier Rädern weiß man erst zu schätzen, wenn man einmal selbst die Nase in den Wind gesteckt und selbst einmal Motorsport gemacht und versucht hat, nur mal ansatzweise schnell eine WP zu fahren. I challenge anyone to watch this and remain relaxed.... Amazing skills.
    I do worry though with where the spectators were stood shortly after the start that we may be heading towards a big accident with injures and deaths and and a repeat of the group B banning back in the 80s. Seriously, if we want to keep enjoying the sport as it is today, spectators have to show some responsibility, as ultimately they're the ones who will miss the spectacle the most.

    I just wander how this idea of rally came .. driver : "bro , i will drive as fast as I can, and you just write down every corner and speed , and read it while I'm pushing to the limit"
    Co driver : ok

    • @richardsaberton3762
      @richardsaberton3762 4 роки тому +2

      Milovan Puric
      The idea was, I believe, started by Mercedes when Stirling Moss and his navigator Denis Jenkinson in the Mille Miglia in the 1950s. They drove over the course, noted every corner and direction on a roll of paper and scrolled through as they went.

    • @hashrulsubzero
      @hashrulsubzero 8 років тому +35

      They do recce before the actually rally. Recce is where the drivers & co-drivers spend their time in a day by driving into every stage that the organisers have laid out for the competitors. This is where the driver actually tells the co-driver what to write in the pacenotes.

    • @psyko_

    • @johnnym11

      They have two test drives in Etape that will drive that day so driver drives first test woitoh any istruction codriver takes notes on curves condition in second drive he watch in wich section and curve driver is late or to fast in speed selection and angle of entry in curves. After test drivers they try out put misteks out and make stategy that will work. That are notes that codriver reads on real race. Driver is not following every note he just takes when he need take note .
