On the other hand, all circuits are pretty much the same and Monaco is no special to other circuit other than on the narrowness, so an F1 car can be quite well set up for a specific track. What's incredible about Loeb is how he manages to tame such random and varied courses like this with smooth inputs and precise lines. Almost every one of these crazy corners is taken with one brake input, one smooth steering movement, onto one throttle input, resulting in the straightest possible line. No seat of the pants, just skill and commitment.
That's kinda why I loved watching incar cams of Colin Mcrae. He fought the car through turns. Loeb's control and feel for how his car responds to his movements is supernatural. Its almost artistic. Like poetry in motion. He is very smooth. The guy is a freak. Some of the crazy positions Colin put his cars in was something to behold as well though. I miss that guy.
Take surface in consideration. You cannot make Scandinavian slick because it's tarmac, and you cannot go like ken block either because time matters. So you gotta make it smooth. Colin videos mostly are on gravelish type of surface so he has to maintain direction by steering constantly (while throttling at finest).
I can not hear it anymore... It's so stupid to say this. It's like you would say, Tennis players are the best skilled ball players in the world. It just doesn't make sense. You simply can not compare different types of sports with completely different rules, cars and tracks...

If tennis had to be played on a cliff in the snow and they had to land the balls in holes barely bigger than the ball itself, then it would require more skill than any other ball players in the world.

Elena had a perfect diction and was very calm (I am french). He insist on the first syllable of each words and never change his tone. Just being the voice and trust at 100 % the pilot . He knew his job for sure.
Badass... Nothing beats an In-car rally vid unless you're actually IN the car ;) Loeb is such a great driver. If I didn't know what these cars were capable of I'd think it was sped up to look faster... Rally truly is the greatest form of Auto-racing hands down... Nothing else compares in my eyes.

F1 formula tracks are controlled from Point A to Z. That's safe but boy, is it boring to watch... Whereas with rally races, anything and everything might take place, adding to the thrill of this type of motor racing. Plus, the landscapes keep changing, adding to the beauty of it all. Rally races are the ultimate motor sports, in my view.

Loeb is a magnificent rally driver, the best ever, but let's not forget the superb road handling capability of the DS3, which seems to turn flat, never flinches, never falters, sticks to the road in all conditions. It's an incredibly stable platform, impeccably fitted, from birth, for rally. The Loeb/DS3 combination is the ultimate winning machine...
And here I am too scared to push this hard on a sim!! Nevermind risking actual life and limb. These guys are incredible. In my opinion, THE best pure drivers of any motorsport.

This is some of the best driving I have ever seen and I have been watching global motor sports for 40+ years. Not that I think I'm an expert. But wow. This is extraordinary. Each time I thought he was going one way... he went the other way. Exceptional car control. People who do this should be celebrated. Many people who think they can drive... actually can't drive.
No one will see this, but what the hell. That is an astounding display of skill. Rally is the king of motor sport. It's the only one where you tip a car on its roof, have the spectators put it back on its wheels and then carry on. And seriously, just watch what he's doing on an unpredictable surface.

J'était dans un régiment de blindés en Allemagne (AMX30B et AMX10) et j'ai fait pas mal de tout terrain... Je n'ai jamais été malade dans un char, même comme graphiste devant transmettre en radio et morse, ou écrivant, même en tout terrain ! Mais je pense que le rallye doit secouer comme pas possible et j'admire le calme de son co pilote. Chapeau à tous les deux !

This is just my personal opinion but I think there's three main reasons behind Loeb's domination : - Natural talent : He his undeniably one of the most talented rally driver ever. Yet he was competing against incredible drivers such as Mäkinen, McRae, Sainz, Solberg, Grönholm and lot more I'm shamefully forgetting. And even in this incredible era he managed to be come out on top. - Dedication : He is a hard worker, constantly training and mentally preparing his races in order to be able to push a bit more than everyone else. - He's part of great team : Elena is easily one of the best co-driver of its time ans the alchemy between those two have evolved over time to become really unique and efficient. The entire staff of the Citroën Racing team is top notch. Leob could not have reached his full potential without each of thoses guys behind him doing an excellent job.

Really impressive. That driving has such laser-sharp control that the car looks like it's on rails lol. I've always loved motorsport, but it's only since I recently started SimRacing that I got to realize just _how_ _hard_ racing cars are to control - no matter which category. This is both humbling and _freaking_ _awe-inspiring_ and I thank you for that.
Jackie Stewart says the secret to driving fast is to NEVER push the throttle down until you are 100% sure you can. He says most drivers lose time because they are impatient and want to get on the throttle too early, then have to lift again, re-steer the car back on line and get wheelspin/sliding. I mention this because Loeb is one of the greatest practitioners of that technique you will ever see. He brakes early and off to keep car balance, "rolls" through the corner (not literally of course, some acceleration must be maintained to overcome tyre scrub and aero drag, it's just a term), and only pushes the throttle down once. Go incar with other drivers and compare to this, they are jerky, hesitations, lots of steering input, often lift off the throttle because they tried too early.

I don't think there is, any doubt that Loeb is the best ever.. Better than any of the Fins. I remember he competed once in rally Ireland In stages in Donegal and he absolutely blew away the field in what would of been his first ever time there. Ok he had the best Car from a top works team in Citroën. But he was competing against Irish guys who's Cars were not that much slower along a route that the local competitors knew like the back of their hands. He just simply blew them away. Absolutely unbelievable driver.

Cleaver driving, always neat and tidy. At the start just fast enough to get temp. in the tyres, then just a bit quicker when everything is warm. Not over reving the engine not hard on the brakes or sudden steering inputs. Not balls out like Panizzi (who could crash at any second, and if he didn't, your left wondered how he didn't). Easy to see how he won so much.

Ken Block entered WCRs some years ago to his credit, wasn't fast enough and he crashed badly a few times. Still he tried, rather see him trying that than those stupid and pointless hoon videos he does.

I remember driving Citroen xsara, I think, 2l diesel turbo, the car was very stable, balanced and fun, no problems with tight turns and higher speeds, very good car
