My CHEAP Terminator Cobra Gets LOUD - New Intake + Exhaust

- I bought a 2003 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra 10th Anniversary aka Terminator Cobra. It was the cheapest one in North America that was running, has a clean title, needs nearly nothing, and can be driven and enjoyed as is. In this video, I'm modifying it with some fun parts, like a Borla S-Type Catback, Bassani Catted X-Pipe, JLT Intake, and finally the Cobra grille emblem. Borla Stingers is the only catback Cobra’s need, it’s the perfect sound on these mod motors.
Also, port the stock Eaton and it’ll stay screaming but make a little more power.

You can pick up 70-80 HP from porting the Eaton and a tune depending on who tunes you throw in e85 if you like and you have a perfect daily setup
the edit you did at 34:00 is so smooth! especially with the audio of the previous drive by hearing the decel pops and crackles from the exhaust.

Love the Terminator build! I had a Borla cat back and MRT o/r H-pipe on my 03 Mach 1 back in the day. Oh how I miss that car ❤

On these, I'm a American Racing Headers 1⅞" long tubes with 3" X pipe and Sports cats to a 3" Bassani rear section or a 3" Magnaflow 4" round bullet style..... those headers and their X pipe is really what makes the sound good (and a good set of cams of course 👌🏻)

First one in the comments who caught Cleetus timelapse music for 2 seconds. Needs a catch can. See if UPR wants to get onboard. Keep the oil from crusting up the supercharger rotors and cooling bricks. They get clogged and your IAT's will increase.
Already have 2 catch cans in the box 😉
The only way to eliminate oil in the intake on these cars is to delete the pcv system and run breathers, or vented catch cans. As long as the pcv system is still there you’ll have oil in the intake. The closed catch cans are a waste of money.
You picked the best catback for the 4.6. I have the Stinger on my lowly 4.6 2V, its slow but man it sounds so good.

The 1st REALLY FAST Car I Drove was a Built '03 COBRA owned by a Mustang Collector at Nellis Air Force Base. This was about 2008. He was a Vet and we selling it on Base at on "Lemon Lot" on base. I saw this Burgundy and immediately pulled over to check it out. There was a Buildsheet and phone number but no price. So I called. The owner was Super nice but told me the car was sold. He was working on another stang on Base and asked me if I wanted to drive the one he just sold. I said, "YEAH!" I waited a few minutes at the Lemon Lot and he handed me the keys to his well-built COBRA. For those who haven't been to NAFB. Once you make a right out of Base, there's miles of straight highway along the flightless. That's what I did. I made a right, in second I sent it and saw the hood and sky. Joined with Loud Supercharger whine! Then 3rd and the same! It was Mad!

Bosch actually invented the O2 sensor which is funny that their brand has a ton of them that show up at your door or you buy them from an auto parts store and they are DOA already. Man I am loving the mods its looking fantastic and sounds amazing! I cant wait to see more! Supercharger upgrade to the newer style would be sick!

Also on the exhaust nuts, you don't use a breaker bar. You have to "jar" it loose with an impact. The crud that's grown in between the threads needs to be loosened up first before the nut will come free. I've owned a few Terminators and worked on many and have never broken a single bolt.
For American V-8s I have always preferred the sound of Borla Exhaust over everything else in the marketplace. Great car, interesting build, and I can't wait for you to track it! - after I see all your other mods.

I got a 99 GT with Bassani X-pipe and Flowmaster 2 chambers mufflers. It sounds very similar to this, maybe a tiny bit louder with the Flowmasters.
I have the Brola S-Type on my 2023 Denali Ultimate 6.2L with a CAI. Sounds nasty on a true cold start for 15-20sec before it finally idols out. I mean like, annoy the f out of the neighbors loud. Once it chills out, it’s everything I wanted out of it. Great idol sound (noticed by most the valets in town) and under power the S-Type and the 6.2 really sing without being too annoying. I also tow a 5000lb 20ft Airsrteam. No drone here in Texas, but if you’re moving up mountains and are hanging out in higher RPMs, you might get some and it won’t be terrible. S-Type sounds amazing with that Supercharger. Looking forward to the additional mods!
Nice! Sounds even better. I know straight pipes are/ were your thing but thanks for being environmentally friendly/ somewhat neighbour friendly. In my state I think we can get away with straight pipes on cars older than 20 years because they no longer test exhaust at that point.
Bringing back so many memories. If you're keeping the "heaton", take the time to port and polish the intake. Steigemeier does them but is also a great resource to read into to do it yourself. The best whine comes out of the 2.2 KB like you mentioned (only the 2.2) but it's a pain. The factory ported Eaton sounds 2nd best imo but just needs to stay very cool. For cooling: The "killer chiller" was most likely used first in the cobra before Dodge took the same idea to use in the hellcat, if I remember correctly. Also, keep the upper pully on the snout of the Eaton larger in diameter and use a smaller crank pully to increase boost to help eliminate belt slip. Added idler/tensioner pully helps, but with the correct lower and upper pully combo and a good belt, you may be good without one. The exhaust looks amazing from the back when it's polished. Looking forward to your adventure :) I'm not jealous of very many careers, but doing what you're doing makes me wish I could join you. Rock on 🤘

I have nowhere near the collection of v8's like Jakub has, but what I do own is my forever car an 01 e39 540i with the 420g 6 speed (from the M5). It definitely needs an exhaust system like this! congratulations on the terminator scoop for as an 85 child I know this is a poster dream car for me as well! [Very hard to find!!]

Nice job. I’ve done these things with my cobras. It’s a lot of fun to mod and enjoy. I wet sanded and polished my Borla catback before I installed it. That would have been the time to do it especially since you see the IRS catback so well in the cobras. I disagree that the VMPs don’t scream because mine is insane.

Also my dream car in high school. I had a '96 mustang Cobra in high school but an 03-04 was always top dog.
There's a video showcasing the KennyBell and the Whipple, and in the video the Whipple made a bit more peak power but, it wasn't consistent and the hotter it got the less power it made.
The KennyBell made consistent power and beat the Whipple after the second or third pull and won over all so, KennyBell for the WIN over Whipple.

That intake is the same that’s on mine. Also, can confirm Kenne Bell 2.6 on these cars still whines. Harder to hear if you have a full exhaust but def still whines.

Exhaust sounds awesome
19:30 I used a old stick welder and some small arc gouging rods to cut the manifold collector bolts off of the 4.6... those are ARP studs so if one or more brake... have to use cobalt carbide drills/taps on a soft hammer drill to drill and tap them, sharp enough to cut the 180ksi studs but their brittle so hand tapping nearly brakes them, drill adjust the tension collar so it clicks "slips" when holding the chuck. then its forward clicking reverse free spin up stalling into clicking slip backing up again etc. junk drill that hardly has power to do anything past chase a rim mer job. add another hour per bolt.

Local guy had a HO Fibertrends hood I wanted to put on my '98. 4" cowl.
I literally fit it in the hatch of my '93 Geo Storm daily I had at the time. 0 space to spare. Perfect fit.

From one Cobra owner to another, please do not go into boost until you get retuned. You went from a fender well intake with a 90 degree bend before the maf to a JLT Rai, your a/f ratio is probably a mess.
Since you mention sounds you should throw a Kenne Bell supercharger on,its the ultimate sound and its intoxicating! You could also port the eaton and it will sound awesome. Nvm i had the video paused right before you mentioned it,how ironic,lol. Time to add them Cobra rear bumper inserts too. Loving the cobra,time to put a svt lighting mass air and bigger accufab single blade throttle body next
A small crack in the exhaust is not going to make a huge difference in the power like you're saying. It'll make a small difference no doubt but thata it. Beauty car and sounds great 👌

when the socket instantly rounded out the nut I was so worried
I hammered on the extractor socket and gave one ugga and they just came right off, its amazing

Good job on the car. The only thing I don’t agree with is keeping the cats on, but if you want more screaming port the blower I think there’s a mod you can do to the firewall so you can hear more screaming. I’ve seen on mustang lifestyle UA-cam channel
I don’t like the smell of non cats and I don’t want my 3 year old inhaling that as I take him to daycare in this car

I have a black 03 with a vmp. Not as loud as an Eaton or KB but definitely still makes supercharger sounds. Plenty of videos of it on my page

I've never really been a fan of Borla, I like the Magnaflow more. My favorite has always been Flowmaster

From one Cobra owner to another…please stay out of boost until you retune the car. You went from a fender well intake with a 90 degree bend before the maf to a jlt rai. The JLT says “no tune required”, but that is not true if your car was tuned for the fender well intake initially. Your a/f ratio is probably a mess, if you go lean under boost that motor is toast.

I had a VMP Gen3 R on my last Terminator and that thing screamed. Stock lower pulley and stock 3.3 upper.
The best blower to toss on this car, VMP - send this guy a blower!

@@13EN17 That they do. My Gen3R made 676 at 19 PSI. Buuuttt.... My smaller Whipple 2.3 is making 658 with running out of fuel pump at 4,000 RPM's and the run cut at 5,000 RPM"s. Once the new pumps are in I expect to be making more power than the Gen3R did. The whipple is making 18 PSI

I just have Vibrant straight through mufflers on the SL. They’re super chill basically just a bit louder than stock. You might want more than that though
