Too late, this should be a surviving basic for all people since childhood, @@findx2744. I appreciate the guy cooking at 15 though, I reminds of myself at his/her age. I was mostly doing same, well done!
Lady. You have a voice that can soothe the soul. I would fall asleep listening to you narrate anything. Your voice could end wars and create world peace. So warm, soft and gentle. Filled with love, patience and purity! Your chapatis look amazing thanks for the tips
I was thinking the same thing. I want her to read me bedtime stories. I don't care that I'm an adult. The techniques and apps I've used to help me get to sleep don't help. Let's petition for an app to be made. It should be called 'Bedtime stories with Bumbi' 😂❤
I agree. It was like a story telling at bedtime. Half asleep. But she can end the war between Ukraine and Russia in 20 minutes, just teaching them how they can chapatis. War gone for the toss and both of them sit together and eat chapatis. Dosti badegi.
The tips are great as I have not come across so much clear details. have made this Roti several times but could never get it soft as it was always hard or crispy.
People in the USA have been waiting for decades for someone to give them this type of detailed instruction. Some things you just can't do from a cookbook, however fine, alone. We have to SEE it being done. Bumbi takes a lot of the tension out of making Indian-style breads, with her gentle, patient style of instruction. Thank you, Bumbi!!
made a batch in a food processor, distractedly cooked 3 breads (while I was also cooking something else), which sat for a good half hour under paper, and then ate them; they were extremely soft and foldable. This is a winner.
Thank you so much for the best Roti tuition video I've ever seen on YT. I've been making Roti for 20 years and I'm still learning. I only eat them now and then, so I need to keep practising! I actually enjoy making them, but when they haven't puffed up, I've been disappointed :(.There's so many steps.. correct amount of water, rolling evenly, tawa hot but not too hot.. Thank you for a most excellent video :) Shaun, Nottingham, UK

I was looking for chapati making recipe and stumbled upon your video. Not for a second, I skipped through your video. Your making and voice is amazing. Especially the way you explain the process is fantabulous. Thanks for your soothing words on how to roll chapatis :)
“This is not a geometry class 📐” HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!! THANK YOU for normalizing it for beginners like me! I just can’t get a perfect round shape... 😬 (I’ll try your technique now). Thank you for posting yet another great video with your humor too! 💗
and I have seen many youtubers using round lid of a steel container and put it on a uneven shaped rolled out roti to look it round and all are of same shape once they are cooked on tawa. yes, easy short cut, but making such a round shape while rolling has its oen charm. While I was in school, I had heard my grand ma telling us that when you prepare daugh of roti, one should be so efficient to collect all stick particles in the bowl and one can not make out you prepare dough in that vessel. Also chapaties should be of same thickness each one and all of them. I value her correcting us kids at that time!
Thank you. Your video is very encouraging not only to the starters but to all who rotisserie don't puff up. I have been making roti/ chapati for 50+ years but now I have an electric stove. Sometimes they puff, sometimes not. I' II try your method . You have a soft encouraging voice.
I have been trying to make round and soft rotis, but it was a failure. Now I have the idea. Thanks for sharing the video. If possible, can you upload how to make Jawari rotis.

I’ve never mastered the art of making soft and round roties. My roties are soft on the day of preparing, but they get hard the next day. Hopefully I’ll get better with this video. Thank you for your very patient instructions.
Rotis do tend to get little hard when left overnight. Next day just brush very lightly with some water on both sides and microwave them. They get soft again.
Roti making or not but the voice is giving something else. I mean energy for cooking. If your voice is this much soft how about your heart. Normally my daughter doesnt like cooking video but my daughter and son both started watching your video. Thanks love you❤
Thank you for such an easy to understand & follow demonstration for making roti. I thought I had some leftover rice to eat with my leftover Dahl but no 🥲 So decided to look up a recipe for roti and found your video. I am going to make some right now. You have a love,y, kind and gentle voice.
This has been the best recipe descrption on how to make soft chapatis, lovely soft friendly voice. The tips have helped me finally make edible chapatis. Thank you for you patience in teaching us beginners. Must look at your other recipes
I have to say, You are exceptional at teaching cooking skills. I new to the channel and I am thoroughly enjoying your channel. I am learning SO much. Thank you for all the care and time you put into sharing Indian Cooking with us all.
Chapati a very satisfying food to make as it gives you a great measure of how much you can improve in the kitchen with practice. I've found that with Chapati getting impatient causes the end result to be less satisfying, especially because the heating on my stove is challenging to perfect. But when you make soft and tasty chapati there is no more satisfying feeling (even if they don't puff up all the time).
Bumbi you made this for me, I just know it. Of course, I needed this two years ago when you published it, but I just found this gem now. I’m not good at making roti, chapati, naan, paratha, you name the flatbread and I mess it up every single time. They taste perfectly fine, but they are too thick, weirdly shaped and just not up to my standards. So thank you, you addressed some of my mistakes here, so I’m making some soon to see if I can apply what I learned from you. Good bread is so amazing!! I don’t know how people go on low carb diets and cut all bread out of their meals. I wouldn’t last a day.
Such an encouraging video! I LOVE chapatis, and I’ve attempted making them before, but I just used a recipe and didn’t research the method. These look amazing, and I’m looking forward to trying again! Thank you ♥️
Your cooking skills are evident with the ease that you display as you’re rolling these out in the more difficult way. They were perfectly round, perfectly prepared and I know they tasted perfectly as well. Watching you cook and listening to your voice is such a pleasure. Thank you!
I have tried numerous recipes...this one works. I particularly like the advice in the video. Iv found myself going more to traditional home curry cooks more than the BIR specialists on UA-cam as you are doing this cooking every day and the methods and recipes often passed through generations.... Thanks Bumbi

I am so very happy to hear that your sister could puff up the rotis. All credit goes to her. Thanks for your kind words.
Thank you so much for the encouraging words in this video. Started making rotis and 15 days into it, started feeling and I wont be able to make peefect rotis ever! On cannot always find the encouragement they need at home. Also those beginner tips are very helpful. Also, thank you telling that it took 20 years of practice. It gave me hope😌
Practice makes it better
Loved the way you patiently and slowly explained the technique with useful tips . Excellent video instruction 👏👌
Thanks for your kind words
I was looking for chapati making recipe and stumbled upon your video. Not for a second, I skipped through your video. Your making and voice is amazing. Especially the way you explain the process is fantabulous. Thanks for your soothing words on how to roll chapatis :)
“This is not a geometry class 📐” HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!! THANK YOU for normalizing it for beginners like me! I just can’t get a perfect round shape... 😬 (I’ll try your technique now). Thank you for posting yet another great video with your humor too! 💗
Thanks 😀
@@CurriesWithBumbi most welcome. :)
loved that too
and I have seen many youtubers using round lid of a steel container and put it on a uneven shaped rolled out roti to look it round and all are of same shape once they are cooked on tawa. yes, easy short cut, but making such a round shape while rolling has its oen charm.
😂😂😂
Thank you. Your video is very encouraging not only to the starters but to all who rotisserie don't puff up. I have been making roti/ chapati for 50+ years but now I have an electric stove. Sometimes they puff, sometimes not. I' II try your method . You have a soft encouraging voice.
Thanks for leaving a comment. I am glad you found this video useful

Thank you for making this video. It's very clear and easy to follow. Also, your voice is very pleasant and relaxing.
Not only is this recipe and other recipes delicious looking ( and tasting) food, also your voice and manner is completely soothing. ❤🙏

What a lovely video! So gentle and encouraging. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thank you
Thank you for sharing your tips & tricks. Also your encouraging words.❤
I made this and now it’s my go to recipe. Thank you so much.❤❤
Wonderful 👍🏽
Roti making or not but the voice is giving something else. I mean energy for cooking. If your voice is this much soft how about your heart. Normally my daughter doesnt like cooking video but my daughter and son both started watching your video. Thanks love you❤
I am glad my videos caught the attention of your children. Thanks for all your love and support. I really appreciate it 🙏🏾

Lovely to listen to softly spoken & well explained. X
Thank you 🙏🏾
I have to say, You are exceptional at teaching cooking skills. I new to the channel and I am thoroughly enjoying your channel. I am learning SO much. Thank you for all the care and time you put into sharing Indian Cooking with us all.
Thanks for all your support 🙏🏾
Chapati a very satisfying food to make as it gives you a great measure of how much you can improve in the kitchen with practice. I've found that with Chapati getting impatient causes the end result to be less satisfying, especially because the heating on my stove is challenging to perfect. But when you make soft and tasty chapati there is no more satisfying feeling (even if they don't puff up all the time).
Totally agree with you
Bumbi you made this for me, I just know it.
You can do it !! Practice makes it better.
Such an encouraging video! I LOVE chapatis, and I’ve attempted making them before, but I just used a recipe and didn’t research the method. These look amazing, and I’m looking forward to trying again! Thank you ♥️
Glad you found the video useful. Thanks for leaving a comment. Please do try it and send me your feedback.
Your cooking skills are evident with the ease that you display as you’re rolling these out in the more difficult way. They were perfectly round, perfectly prepared and I know they tasted perfectly as well. Watching you cook and listening to your voice is such a pleasure. Thank you!
Thanks for your kind words Dianna. Your comments inspire me so much.
@@CurriesWithBumbi and your presence on UA-cam inspires so many of us!
I have tried numerous recipes...this one works. I particularly like the advice in the video. Iv found myself going more to traditional home curry cooks more than the BIR specialists on UA-cam as you are doing this cooking every day and the methods and recipes often passed through generations.... Thanks Bumbi

VRRY SOFTLY SPOKEN VOICE ZND DEMONSTRATED IN A PROFESSIONAL PROFESSIONAL WAY THANK YOU.I GET VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH MY TOTIS AS THEY COME OUT VERY CRISPY..IT JUST DADENS ME.
Just keep on practising. Do not roll them out too thin nor too thick. Roast them on medium heat.
Thank you so much for making this video. I love how detailed it is and that it is very beginner friendly. I'm sure it will help me a lot. I am a Filipina, and I wanted to make roti and chapati for my Indian boyfriend. I feel that this will be my go-to channel on my journey to learning Indian cuisine. 🥰🥰🥰
Welcome 🙏🏾, I am glad you are here
Trying it for the first time. Hope turns out good. Love the way how you explained everything so well. Stay blessed.
as a boy its hard to make roti but this video is blessing for me , Thank you!
Thank you Bumbi, I'm at home in my kitchen in New Zealand making this. I love your humor and lovely voice. I was writing down what ingredients you were saying. I wrote 1 half cups of butter, I think that can't be & listening again you were saying Atta😂 silly me, anyway I've been searching for a teaching like this in English for ages. I'm lucky I found you. You are fantastic & I'm feeling proud. Thank you Bumbi 🙏🏻💖
Haha 😀. Just to let you know that the ingredient proportions are given in the description box below the video. Please click on “more” situated below the title of the video to open up the description box

Amazing! Unfortunately the temp of my electric hobs are too unpredictable but I'm still happy with the result! Huge difference from last nights 'tortilla' to todays soft Roti. Thank you 🙏

@@CurriesWithBumbi please keep posting ❤️. Do you have Some breakfast dishes?. I love indian food, i cook them quit often but chapati with atta has always been a challenge. What part of India are you from if you dont mind me asking?

I recently found your channel and it has helped me so much! I love your methods, adore your humor and really admire your humility. You are fantastic and I appreciate you sharing what is obviously decades of experience! Simple and delicious!!
Thanks for your kind words. I am glad you find my videos useful.
I am making chapaties for more than 55 years or more and as you said practice makes it easier. For me making 50 chapaties is very easy task but now being just 2 of us have to make 3-4 chapaties for lunch or dinner. Haah, that is difficult! Isn't it? But I do enjoy cooking fresh chapaties everyday. You have explained the whole procedure with lot of patience and all useful tips for beginners. I am sure my granddaughters when they will start cooking for themselves, they will search on the youtube how to make roti like mom and dadi made! 😀 and they will find your video very useful. Now a days girls are too much busy with school home work and other school activities that helping mom in the kitchen comes to last priority. Don't blame them at all, the time has changed. But one thing is positive that if they need to and want to cook, lots of videos are there for them to learn cook. Thanks for the video.
Loved reading your comment. Thanks
I have seen so many videos.. But your way of telling the receive is something different.. It gives me courage to do even after I give fail attempts.. It's gives me positive view to understand that it perfectly even if u fail to make it, u r just beginner.. U should not compare with ur in law even when they do.. Be positive and patience and try.. One day u will succeed.. U will gain that experience.. ❤
Practice, Patience, Perseverance are the three key words to be successful in making perfect rotis.
Thank you for the instructions, very helpful, learnt from my mistakes and yes, so good to hear your voice whilst learning
Excellent explanation. I followed the recipe and my roties came out soft and remained soft the next day as well. Thank you so much for the wonderful recipe.
Glad you liked it
You explain very clearly and in detail. Fantastic. In the end you boble up on an enectric stove. That is nice. I have only electric stove.🎉

I knew that bengolis are well educated and well spoken people and you have once again proved it. Thanks again for helping me out as I' am a beginner and this video of yours has definately helped me out to understand about the right technique to do a perfect roti and also motivating all of us that failure is key to success.
