  • Zooming into fractal heightfields has its pitfalls. The first few attempts were very bumpy rides. I eventually arrived at a two phase method, where some important animation parameters are determined only after the whole collection of elevation maps has been computed first.
    With that it was smooth sailing. It is still only a short trip, due to the large amount of computation required. Turned out interesting enough to show around.

    I like what you've done there, trying to work out how! I use mandelbulber in my YT fractals. If using that I think you get get something like you've done using a bounding box but I like the model, it like a cliff-line on the coast - liked 👍
