I don’t know what was funnier: you explaining the rating categories in the beginning or the actual ratings throughout the video. I would have loved a video essay on your take of monster romance popularity. ❤📚✌🏻
Run, don't walk, and pick up Soul Eater by Lily Mayne. Her Monstrous series has brought so many people into the monster loving genre, including people like myself who thought they would NEVER.
Mara- I didn't know I needed this in my life until you made this vlog. Please make this into a series! Btw I recently read The Quarry Master by Amanda Milo & it was very cute, I highly recommend.
Dragon's Bride and Kraken's Sacrifice are on my tbr for next month and I am so excited! I read her Court of The Vampire Queen earlier this month and the Deal with A Demon series ties into it with some of the characters in that book.
this is such a fun video and i love your categories lol, i get my romance itch satisfied by reading fanfic so love seeing what you find out in the world
I love this~ I have so much fun with monster romances, haha--I explain the plot in a few of them to my partner and now every time I ask him the question "you wanna know what this one's about?", it's an automatic "please stop" LMAO I think he's scarred from Morning Glory's Milking Farm
i fucking love monster romance. im writing monster romances myself as we speak! the more monstrous, the better for me, personally haha. so long as they have human level intelligence, can talk and consent, anything goes baby
Next time, I highly recommend the follow-up to Morning Glory Milking Farm. It's a human and a mothman and it's fun but with much more character development than MGMF. Definitely a step up. I was surprised at how much I liked it.
I'd be really curious to know what you think of Olivia Riley. She writes alien romances that have a lot of sci fi plot and very monstrous looking heroes. The first book, which was her debut, is called Heart's Prisoner and I was instantly hooked and have been reading every book she writes as soon as it drops!
This video was so fun-and I definitely need more fun these days ❤ I dnf’d Ice Planet Barbarians from my library, but they only had it on audio and I can’t do fiction on audio. I just bought the ebook to give it a second try because the series sounds like a great time. Thanks!
note to self: do NOT watch mara talk monster-pow-chick-a-pow-ow with a mouth full of hot coffee! but - categories for „monster smut“ 👉🏻 that‘s just absolute gold! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
love this video...I really liked Deceived by the Gargoyles but I've discovered I like reverse harem in my smut...who knew 😏 I'm less into aliens & alien abduction stories though... lucky for us there's something for everyone 😁
Lovedddd this video! I remember you thought morning glory milking farm was fun which is this vibe, so I def think you should check out the next book in that series called Sweet Berries! It’s truly bananas 😂 very fun
My favorite monster romances are from the Monstrous Series by Lily Mayne. Books 1,2,4,&5. She has so many side stories for free on her website and has quite a few more books planned for the series. I’m looking forward to book 7 since it’ll wrap up a plot line that’s existed since book 2 😂
I picked up one series that you reviewed before that was like... Meads something? "I got drunk and accidentally.." that series. Now I'm intrigued about that Soul to Keep book, I just love cool creature design!
I loved this vlog. One of the series I think is really good for alien abduction romances is the Galactic Love series by Ann Aguirre, especially the first book Strange Love (don't know if you've read any of them).
I picked up Strange Love mainly because of the talking dog, but ended up loving the characters and their relationship (happily, the talking dog was also wonderful).
Well seeing as how I loved beauty and the beast growing up.... it's no wonder I'm weak for monster romances 😍😬🙈 loving all these vlogs from you!!! I've got fibromyalgia and depression/anxiety and I find your content soothing 💜📚☺️🤗
Have you seen that reel of how Beauty and the Beast being your fav childhood Disney movie explains your fav tropes in romance. Haha Mine would have been The Little Mermaid; no idea what that means for me though haha Hope you are having a good day today
Hi there 🙂 no I haven't seen the reel but will def check it out. I loved The little mermaid too!!! Guess we like unconventional romances 🤗💜 thank you hope you're having a wonderful day too. 🌈
Mara, with Flor‘s book out, its like the end of the Icehome series. Will you do a deep dive about the Icehome like you made with IPB? I enjoyed that so much❤
I may do a Rubyverse update at some point - I got through most of Icehome in that original video, so would need more books to talk about beyond that series
As a Beauty and the Beast Stan, I definitely appreciate a monster 👾 romance. Although, I do like a paranormal/urban fantasy as much as I do a sci-fi romance. As my give a damn is broken, I have no regrets about my reading 📖 taste. 😆 I like the Honey Phillips alien abduction series. (The Kraken and Naga were stand outs for me in this series, but the majority lived in the 3-3.5 stars region) I do like the Regine Abel and Ruby Dixon series a bit more, but Phillips is still a good time. Not everybody loves Katee Robert.😏 I've tried several of hers, and they fall flat for me. I have not read The Dragon's Bride, but I was Not a fan of her Greek God retellings or fairytale retellings. While I like the idea of a gargoyle and poly set ups don't bother me I don't think I would like the Deception- set up seems a little too cheating adjacent for my taste. Michelle Mills is Not for me. But I'm generally a hard sell on the novella length that she favors. A Soul to Keep has been on my TBR for a bit. Honestly, all the Tik Tok attention it's been getting recently is the reason it's still just on my TBR, and I haven't actually read it yet. Tik Tok can be just a bit unreliable with recommendations. 😂 Ruby Dixon is the sci-fi romance queen 👑 at this point. I would say Ice Home is a good place to start. She really found her footing, I think, with the blue guys in that series. Love the idea for this video. Tiffany Roberts is another author that writes good monster romance. They (husband and wife writing team-and we love 😍 those 🤣) have several series.
I don’t know what was funnier: you explaining the rating categories in the beginning or the actual ratings throughout the video.
I would have loved a video essay on your take of monster romance popularity.
❤📚✌🏻
I feel like other people have already done it better than I could :D - check out the Lindsay Ellis one
Run, don't walk, and pick up Soul Eater by Lily Mayne. Her Monstrous series has brought so many people into the monster loving genre, including people like myself who thought they would NEVER.
Your rating system was hilarious. Very entertaining reviews.
Mara- I didn't know I needed this in my life until you made this vlog. Please make this into a series! Btw I recently read The Quarry Master by Amanda Milo & it was very cute, I highly recommend.
Ooo, yes, I've liked Amanda Milo before so I'll check it out!
Dragon's Bride and Kraken's Sacrifice are on my tbr for next month and I am so excited! I read her Court of The Vampire Queen earlier this month and the Deal with A Demon series ties into it with some of the characters in that book.
"things that go bump in the night" 😂😂😂 love it!
this is such a fun video and i love your categories lol, i get my romance itch satisfied by reading fanfic so love seeing what you find out in the world
These are definitely very fanfic Esque 👏
I love this~

If only he knew how much wilder these books can get... 👻
The way that you’re making me want to try another IPB book 👀 only you can achieve this lol
I meannnnnnn 👀
i fucking love monster romance. im writing monster romances myself as we speak! the more monstrous, the better for me, personally haha. so long as they have human level intelligence, can talk and consent, anything goes baby
Love your intro to the reading. Yes, with all going on in the world and society, take pleasure wherever you can if you can, lol
The way monster romances are my favourite genre
🤣🤣🤣🤣 "where the eggplant lives"
Everything I didn't know I needed! The rating scale is perfection, lol. I had a few of these on my tbr, but now I will need to bump them up.
Next time, I highly recommend the follow-up to Morning Glory Milking Farm. It's a human and a mothman and it's fun but with much more character development than MGMF. Definitely a step up. I was surprised at how much I liked it.
It's definitely on the list!
“Congratulations to me.” Got a good giggle out of that. 😂 You enjoy it girl!
love ur rating systems when u do vlogs like this, theyre entertaining but also rly helpful for recs!
I really enjoyed the Dragon’s Bride and am still a little nervous to dip my toes into more monster romance. Thanks for highlighting some others!
Haha haha hahahahaha. Pound Town?? Haha haha You are a hoot!!😂 you’re fun girl!!

This video is a DELIGHT! I have laughed out loud whilst cooking dinner multiple times and I am only half way through
That makes me so happy!
I loved this, and would love to see more videos like these!!

I thought I was the only one that had an issue connecting to Katee’s books 😭 I did enjoy The Dragon’s Bride tho! 🎉
You are not alone!
This was incredible fun! Love it 💖
I'm such a monster romance fan. I would love for you to continue making more of these videos! Especially rating them 😄
I love all of this. What a fun vlog!
Love seeing you have a vlog where I've read a majority of what you're reacting to. 👽✨
love this video...I really liked Deceived by the Gargoyles but I've discovered I like reverse harem in my smut...who knew 😏 I'm less into aliens & alien abduction stories though... lucky for us there's something for everyone 😁
This was fantastic and loved the many different rating systems!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lovedddd this video! I remember you thought morning glory milking farm was fun which is this vibe, so I def think you should check out the next book in that series called Sweet Berries! It’s truly bananas 😂 very fun
It is definitely on the TBR!!

Is "A Soul to Keep" a fanfic of "The Ancient Magus' Bride"??. That duskwalker on the cover looks exactly like Elias.
I dunno about it being a fanfic, but the duskwalker looks like how a Wendigo creature is usually depicted.
It's definitely the same creature - not sure of the inspo, since I haven't ready that series
Great video! Thanks so much 🫶
Loved this episode, great work, funny, some good recs and gold rating system. Peen, pound town 😂😂
You're a breath of fresh air in the increasingly puritan interweb.
I picked up one series that you reviewed before that was like... Meads something? "I got drunk and accidentally.." that series. Now I'm intrigued about that Soul to Keep book, I just love cool creature design!
Amazing. That's all I have to say. I loved this video, thank you for making and sharing it. 💖
Absolutely love this entire concept, the rating scale - spectacular hahaha
THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT L O L omg
I loved decieved by the gargoyles, but the first book in the series (stalked by the kraken) was better for me!
Ooo good to know!!
Love this video - thank god for romance !! Best video ever ….
Eggplants 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣 this was the most creative idea!!! So fun to watch!!!
Thank you 🤗

Love it or list it 😂 my favorite category and glad it’s separate from smash or pass

I want to read 1s. I like vampires 🧛♂️ and werewolves. Sounds fun.
Luxuria by Colette Rhodes was a great monster romance!
😂 I love your rating scales.
Wait, are the Cosair books adjacent to the IPB/Icehome world? I started her Wed to the Gods series, but haven't started Cosairs.
They are indeed! All the sci-fi series are in the same world
Spooky intro music! You spoil us 🎃
😁
If you sexy run I will sexy chase you 😂
I just read A Soul to Keep yesterday.
So you KNOW
I looooooved that one.
Fun fact: monster romance books actually tend to be more people with autism, or I think
I hope you are going to clog the darker Halloween stuff too! ❤
Oh I shall no worries
😂❤
Lol she’s great

I felt very conflicted about a soul to keep. Ultimately just too long for my liking
