This is so fun! I have such a soft spot for mass markets bc most of my teenage reading was 90s romances I bought second hand aka the mass market gold mine (also my small hands don’t love giant hardcovers lol)
Yes to all the declutter projects of audiobooks, ebooks, mass paperbacks and even hard covers! I loved this project idea. I’m actually curious to see you include the Malcolm X book in one of those projects though. Think it would be great to hear your thoughts.
Such a fun video! I would love to see another, if that's something that you would enjoy doing. Personally I also really enjoy when the TBR number is shared at the beginning and the end to help follow progress.
I'm all about the mass markets and e-books. Most of my physical books are mass markets because I often go to the used local bookstores in my area and they have great and plentiful varieties of them. Plus, I've sized my book shelves to accommodate them. 😂
oh my gosh, Red Carpet Redemption would frustrate me SO MUCH!! "now is not the time" is right! 😬 I loved Lady's Guide! I loved Catherine's realization that her needlework matters and is also an important skill and beautiful art and matters as much as Lucy's work 💞 I would be so happy if all MMPs were the flexible floppy ones! then you have a compact size but no spine problem!
Loved seeing your kitty kat in the beginning! My kitty thinks yours is cute! I would love to see another mass market and ebook vlog! I really enjoyed this video!
this was super fun and would definitely watch a round 2. and definitely would still be happy to hear your thoughts of Autobiography of Malcolm X even if it was sort of an accidental mass market and didn't fit the theme
If you're not enjoying "traditional" historical romances, you might enjoy some that have a bit of a different plot line with less traditional power dynamics. There are some older historicals, some of which may be out of print, but may be on kindle, that have heroines who have power and agency. There are also historicals where the heroine has a higher status than the hero. For instance, Patricia Gaffney's Crooked Hearts about two con artists who try and con each other, or her Wild At Heart where an anthropologist discovers an "uncivilized man" in the wilderness and this man's relationship with the anthropologist's daughter. Judith Ivory's The Proposition, which is a reverse Pygmalion story. Maggie Osborne's The Promise of Jenny Jones, about a calamity jane type woman who takes a child under her wing from a dying mother and tries to protect her from scheming relatives. Laura Kinsale writes incredibly different historicals. I would recommend For My Lady's Heart - a medieval with a very calculating heroine and a hero who is noble and good, Flowers from the Storm with a Quaker heroine and a hero who suffers a stroke, The Prince of Midnight, with a very hard-hearted heroine and a hero who is suffering from a disability. LaVryle Spencer's November of the Heart, girl from wealthy family has a love affair with young man who works on their estate. Elizabeth Grayson's Painted by the Sun, with a heroine who is a photographer in the old American west in search of the son she gave up as an infant. Mary Balogh's A Matter of Class is a marriage of convenience with a twist Mary Jo Putney's One Perfect Rose, a nobleman hero who believes he is dying runs away to join a traveling theatrical troupe.
This was a good idea! Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm surprised I don't have more mass markets sitting around because I generally don't have an issue with them except for shelf organization, but I need to do this with my BOTM and OwlCrate. Would love to see a part 2, though!
Fun time! I've read Nora Roberts (suspense ones) and haven't read one that has 2 books in one, and you have a bunch. Maybe they are older titles? What do you think about her JD Robb? Yes, to round 2 please!
I have a lot of category romances that I need to go through in my mass market paperback collection so I find this to be a really good idea. I feel like I have a lot of MMPBs that got away from me so I need to read them. Ooof, I'm sorry about the disappointing reads. But I'm glad you were able to find ones that you enjoyed.
Mass markets do not hold well at all but I really like them there like my guilty pleasure lol I think I like the way they feel in my hand as apposed to hardbacks
I’ve been focusing on reading down my various TBRs this year too but not nearly as consistently. I just make myself listen to at least one of my backlog Audible titles and one LibroFM titles a month. So I’d be down with a part two/three of this series for sure!
@@Vickynger ha just to keep track of digital versus physical books 🤷🏻♀️ digital is obviously not a space thing but more of a “I bought this for a reason and then still didn’t read it for months/years” thing for me
The entire time you were talking about Impostor's Lure all I could think about was how UNFORTUNATE Carla's last name is and that if I were her I would have used a pen name. Not just for like. Oof that's close to a bad word reasons. But also Negging is just. Also a thing.
A vlog where you find other books with the same trope as the Anabelle Bryant book might be interesting, and hopefully they succeed where this one failed.
My #1 problem with the romance genre is that there's almost always something that SHOULD be taking higher priority over fooling around. Sick kids, serial killings, demonic possessions, major family emergencies, the apocalypse, you name it. Put it back in your pants and focus, people!
I don’t like mass market either…I’d rather ebook thank you..the font is too small for my aging eyes. I love my kindle for travel…my mass markets years ago came back pretty much wrecked lol from traveling with them
This is so fun! I have such a soft spot for mass markets bc most of my teenage reading was 90s romances I bought second hand aka the mass market gold mine (also my small hands don’t love giant hardcovers lol)
YES secondhand mass markets are such nostalgia gold for me
I feel the exact same way about Historical Romances!
This was fun would love to see a part 2 and/or ebook version!
Read Malcolm X’s Autobiography when I was 18. 20 years later and it still gets to me. Changed my life. ♥️
Looking forward to reading it someday!
Yes please on a second round!
Yes please more projects
The rush of serotonin i get when i see we have a new Mara vid 😍
I adore this as a concept - I love seeing Booktubers tackle their TBRs!
Yes please, to a round two.
Also, I’m impressed by how you spun that stack at 23:49. I would have dropped them all in an instant.
This was really fun to watch! I don't have a ton of mass market paperbacks but the ones I do have are mostly cozy mysteries!
Loved this! Totally would like to see a round two.
Loved this! I'm doing something similar with my ebook backlog. I'm trying to focus on series first. It is not going well. I keep adding new series.😅
Yes to all the declutter projects of audiobooks, ebooks, mass paperbacks and even hard covers! I loved this project idea. I’m actually curious to see you include the Malcolm X book in one of those projects though. Think it would be great to hear your thoughts.
I'd love to see more of these! I love 'read my TBR' projects
you are inspiring me to read and rid of some of my mass markets!
Such a fun video! I would love to see another, if that's something that you would enjoy doing. Personally I also really enjoy when the TBR number is shared at the beginning and the end to help follow progress.
Great idea!!
Hopefully we get a part 2 as this was fun to watch! 😃
I actually collect mass market romances from the 80s and 90s. Particularly certain cover illustrators. Because there's nothing like a good clinch!
There are some truly iconic covers out there!
I really enjoyed this!
Ooh very inspirational video. I have a ton of mass markets that I need to read through too. I’d love to see round two!
Yay, thank you!
Great idea! I would love to see more like this. Ebooks are so easy to snag and forget about. Those kindle deals get me everytime!
SAME :D
As someone trying to take down my own physical TBR this was super inspiring! I would love a part 2 or other simile TBR take down videos!

Progress over perfection. 🥰
Always!
Hi! I recommend you the channel Books and Waffles, she loves historical romances between ladies!
yes pleaseee! I'd love to see a part 2!!!
oh my gosh, Red Carpet Redemption would frustrate me SO MUCH!! "now is not the time" is right! 😬
I loved Lady's Guide! I loved Catherine's realization that her needlework matters and is also an important skill and beautiful art and matters as much as Lucy's work 💞
I would be so happy if all MMPs were the flexible floppy ones! then you have a compact size but no spine problem!
YES loved Catherine's needlework - especially when she made Lucy that shawl. It was so sweet
Loved seeing your kitty kat in the beginning! My kitty thinks yours is cute!
I would love to see another mass market and ebook vlog! I really enjoyed this video!
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video idea!
this was super fun and would definitely watch a round 2. and definitely would still be happy to hear your thoughts of Autobiography of Malcolm X even if it was sort of an accidental mass market and didn't fit the theme
Yes for a part 2
I do hope you'll get to The Autobiography of Malcolm X soon though. It is an amazing book.

Thanks for the recs!
Lol, I've never been so early! "36 seconds"!
Love this for you, you did so well getting through so many! Congrats!
LOL you're the winner!! :)

Oh I love In Death - I keep up with that series :)
I have a lot of category romances that I need to go through in my mass market paperback collection so I find this to be a really good idea. I feel like I have a lot of MMPBs that got away from me so I need to read them.

wait, you guys have several TBRs?!
@@Vickynger ha just to keep track of digital versus physical books 🤷🏻♀️ digital is obviously not a space thing but more of a “I bought this for a reason and then still didn’t read it for months/years” thing for me
Mass markets can be nostalgic but I generally don’t pick them up 😬
Love this idea! Definitely struggle with mass markets and never buy one if I can help it!
Same here!
The entire time you were talking about Impostor's Lure all I could think about was how UNFORTUNATE Carla's last name is and that if I were her I would have used a pen name. Not just for like. Oof that's close to a bad word reasons. But also Negging is just. Also a thing.
Yeah it's definitely an... unfortunate name, shall we say :/
A vlog where you find other books with the same trope as the Anabelle Bryant book might be interesting, and hopefully they succeed where this one failed.
“They’re not horrible…well hmmm…”

Do you have recs on some better executed romances with the “already married/marriage of convenience” trope? Like London’s Best Kept Secret but good 😁
I'm halfway through Tempest by Beverly Jenkins and 😍
Yes, Tempest was going to be my historical recommendation! Can't go wrong with Miss Bev
Round 2 please
I never buy mass markets. The main reason is the type is usually smaller.
I don’t like mass market either…I’d rather ebook thank you..the font is too small for my aging eyes. I love my kindle for travel…my mass markets years ago came back pretty much wrecked lol from traveling with them
honestly thank god for ebooks
Obligatory comment about Nora. So sorry these didn’t work for you!! I read her three sisters trilogy that is light para-Nora and enjoyed it.
