      Having a timer on screen does not affect world record timing at all. Having the timer at 45 seconds when the actual run starts doesn't make it slower. What counts is the time between hitting new game and the last input or it's based on the ingame timer or whatever the rule for the specific game is.

    11:34
    I did the damage calculations and this is what needs to happen for the Zigzagoon to faint the Ralts.
    First, the Zigzagoon needs to have a +atk nature and the Ralts needs a -def nature.
    Okay, not too bad...
    Second, the Zigzagoon needs to have at least a 26 in its Atk IV and the Ralts needs less than a 4 and a 10 in its HP and Def IVs, respectively.
    Lastly, both tackles made by the Zigzagoon need to roll for *maximum* damage. The maximum damage for the first tackle is 10 and second is 7. The Ralts has 17 Maximum HP, exactly enough to faint it.
    So, if all of those conditions get met, you get to save about 30 seconds...

    • @Zsaver3
      @Zsaver3 6 років тому +15

      you wouldn't save any, hellsk. Gen 3 hall of fame is much quicker than gen 1. The cutscenes for gen 1 are far slower than depositing the pokemon, which is why they do it there. But gen 3, the hall of fame registry is like 2-3 seconds per pokemon, and depositing each is about 1-2 seconds per pokemon, but then they also have to rout in the extra movement to and from the pc. I can't give concrete values, because I haven't done this speedrun, but I imagine in the course of routing that has been checked for possible time save.

      @WereDictionary 5 років тому +36

      Surf and Waterfall are, but very rarely do you have a pokemon that excels in both physical and stecial attack so you usually dont want to have both.
      Strength isnt super effective against anything and it doesnt have any secondary effect, so it loses out against Body Slam with its 30% paralysis chance and Return with more base power.
      Or you could run a coverage move thats super effective against anything you'd use Strength against

    Although Air Lock is only on one Pokemon, Cloud Nine, its "reskin", is on the Golduck and Altaria lines. So not just Rayquaza gets it.
    Air Lock/Cloud Nine makes the AI do weird things sometimes in later gens. In this gen they don't seen to care, but in later gens the AI is programmed to think the weather isn't active while Air Lock is up. This means that if they have weather-setting moves like Sunny Day or Hail, they'll keep using those moves even though they have no effect. (Most weather-users are programmed with "If weather not active, use weather move" as their highest priority) The weather is technically still active, it's just not doing anything, but the AI doesn't know that.
    So if Glacia had Gen 6 AI, she would've kept spamming Hail and the fight would've been even more free.
