Okay, not too bad... Second, the Zigzagoon needs to have at least a 26 in its Atk IV and the Ralts needs less than a 4 and a 10 in its HP and Def IVs, respectively. Lastly, both tackles made by the Zigzagoon need to roll for *maximum* damage. The maximum damage for the first tackle is 10 and second is 7. The Ralts has 17 Maximum HP, exactly enough to faint it. So, if all of those conditions get met, you get to save about 30 seconds...
2:28:00 And that's why I'm glad Sun and Moon finally got rid of HMs. I could FINALLY use a water Pokemon that didn't just know Surf, Dive, Waterfall, and Strength.
Surf and Waterfall are, but very rarely do you have a pokemon that excels in both physical and stecial attack so you usually dont want to have both. Or you could run a coverage move thats super effective against anything you'd use Strength against
you wouldn't save any, hellsk. Gen 3 hall of fame is much quicker than gen 1. The cutscenes for gen 1 are far slower than depositing the pokemon, which is why they do it there. Although Air Lock is only on one Pokemon, Cloud Nine, its "reskin", is on the Golduck and Altaria lines. So not just Rayquaza gets it. Air Lock/Cloud Nine makes the AI do weird things sometimes in later gens. In this gen they don't seen to care, but in later gens the AI is programmed to think the weather isn't active while Air Lock is up. This means that if they have weather-setting moves like Sunny Day or Hail, they'll keep using those moves even though they have no effect. (Most weather-users are programmed with "If weather not active, use weather move" as their highest priority) The weather is technically still active, it's just not doing anything, but the AI doesn't know that. Only in an Emerald speedrun is Strength a nice move.
XerShade the problem is return is objectively better if you max happiness (which you cannot do in a speedrun)
hyper beam is better in gen 3 all normal moves are physical and slaking had to wait a turn anyways so its much better.
p sure you can switch on truant turns but not recharge turns, if playing on set or battling online Return is arguably better than hyper beam still
Not objectively better. Return doesn't do anything outside of battle. Strength is plenty powerful while also freeing up a slot on your HM slave.
