Yes, excellent. Spike avoided acronyms, explained what we were seeing, mentioned what skips skipped, ... Many GDQ commentators only make sense if you're a knowledgeable speed runner, even if you've played the game 100% they're impenetrable. "That was an LBJ from an SR60 on HHB avoiding splat5," WTF.
Spike is great at commentating in general. He ran dktf and was commentating while running, even on the other person he was racing against lol

The Luma assists with their respiration in the vacuum of space but cannot do the same in water as it is not accustomed to dealing with such an atmosphere, that being the water

Miranda J totally agree. I sometimes just booted up my Wii just to play that level. I've spend hours just swimming with the shell because it was so relaxing.

Rosalina is the best character in the whole Mario universe. Her character is so sweet, and I can't imagine any other game that she would belong in.

I just now noticed that the box behind the time with the flashing squares is binary. With the four boxes in each row having a separate value. The very bottom row is 1, then 2, then 4, and then 8. They all correspond to the possible 6 decimal places of the time.

Seeing spikevegeta ANYWHERE is always such a joy. One of the best runs to watch are the Kingdom hearts 1-2 runs. It's always a little family get together. People sing, they talk, they play games, etc. I love it so much

I know that, you can hear that when they say the announcement on the fact that the money came from the selling of merchandise, but regardless, that is 1. Still a ridiculous amount of money, 2. Really good sales as well to be able to donate so much of that money to GDQ.

I like how he used the English version since it only saves a minute or so in Japanese for us who don't care too much for seeing text we can't even read.
To be fair, in speedruns you're generally mashing through text so you can't read most of it anyways.

Best theme is the theme that plays during the storybook, that almost had me in tears
Did you know the soundtrack was originally planned to be like electro-sci fi themed sounds? It wasn’t until Koji Kondo or someone weote a test track in this style that it was decided to stick with it (best musical decision Nintendo has made tbh).

This is one of the best runs I’ve seen on this channel. Couch is informative. It’s just fun to watch.
This video has been catalyst for my passion for this game. I am not a particularly professional at this game, nor do I claim to be the tippy top as my personal any % record for Luigi galaxy is 4:22:19. Yet, this run had reawakened an older part of myself wen I played this game as a kid. With the advent of the Switch release, I am now able to enjoy this game both in casual and competitive senses.
I am having the exact same experience - I’ve been watching this video for years now to learn how to run SMG and it made me love playing the wii again. A reincarnation of my childhood

I played this game so much as a child. To the point where could clear the first two domes with all the stars and comets game with ease. I’d also try some tiny skips I found online like the Megaleg first planet skip. Seeing this game run is inspiring me to try the skips for myself.

36:23 the first time I tried this level skip with Mario as a semi little kid I just walked all around the boss before it activated, embracing the forbidding feeling I got just exploring a deactivates monster. I love this game so much

I never realized that the sound effect you get when grabbing a new item is the same sound effect when you upgrade the Odyssey in Super Mario Odyssey.
It's awesome to see Super Mario Galaxy back at GDQ, and with Chrism and Spike to boot! I hope this year's SGDQ will feature Super Mario Galaxy 2.
I also kinda hope one day there'll be a 120 star run of this game at GDQ, but that's a bit of a pipe dream.
Also, I'm surprised how many games Spike runs or at least knows the speed-tech. I've seen him in Donkey Kong Country runs (both Rare and Retro), Kingdom Heart runs, Super Mario runs, Crash runs, and probably more.

Still such a wonderful game. Probably my favourite game ever. Great to watch a speed run. The gravity mechanics are so well implemented. Although it is linear in places Galaxy gives you a great sense of freedom mostly. Think they should have made a Galaxy 3 and release all three in one package on the Switch.

The underrated black sheep of the 3d Mario speedruns I say. This game really doesn't get much attention speedrun-wise as much as 64, sunshine, or odyssey (probably for the lack of game-breaking skips).
Nice to see it playing here for a chance.
