Superb video. Thank you from a 60-year-old (about to turn 61) who has been boxing for over 25 years and was, in earlier life, a sports scholar at a hearty boarding school (rugby, tennis, etc). I'm back in boxing training again with yet another coach. Love the basics. As I said to the young man training me (Lucien Reid at Islington Boxing Club, so quite an athlete in his own right with the fastest hands and feet that I've ever seen in sparring...), boxing is like taking a driving test. You learn how to do it properly at the outset (or at least you hope you do so...) and then spend the remainder of your driving life ignoring the rules at your peril! I think you make a similar comparison with driving in your video. Anyhow, calls to mind David Bowie's song, "Absolute Beginners." It's my anthem. We are all beginners, no matter how long we've been doing it and how good we are. The fundamentals. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Keep up the good work. And happy 50th birthday to you when it arrives.
That you for such a lovely comment and I love the fact that your back boxing , I think once you’ve been a boxer , your always a boxer, I did actually try to walk away at one point, when competing was over for me, due to age and injuries , I didn’t really want to be around something that I couldn’t do, so I tried walking away , I didn’t watch any boxing didn’t want to talk about it, got rather overweight and quite drunk way more than I should of, but it has a strange way of pulling you back in , I’m glad it does though as I love my gym and coaching everyone that trains there and with this channel I get to help people all over the world and make contact with awesome people such as yourself , thank you for watching my video I really appreciate it 👍🥊
Completely agree, I think it’s awful , but loads of “ influencers” are doing it because they are chasing views, likes , comments etc, honestly I don’t really care about all that, as long as I know with integrity that what I put out there works and will help people , that’s all that matters to me, appreciate the comment brother thank you 👍🥊
I think that people including myself develop bad habits because we're not getting the appropriate real-time feedback. I used to drop my hands when I thought I was safe but until I got whacked by a hook or an uppercut I didn't realize I was making a colossal mistake. If I were forced to wear a dog shock collar while throwing hooks and it could zap me every time I threw a right hook while dropping my left hand I guarantee I'm going to be shocked twice, maybe three times! There's a business opportunity there I'm sure of it! I learned so much from just 10 minutes; subbed and I'm eager to start drilling for consistency. Cheers!
Thank you for watching and subscribing I appreciate that and I’m actually going to do some videos on how to correct just what your talking about , a lot of people have the same issue so I put together a pad work system that I use at my gym now all the time which can’t help but make sure your not dropping your hands and will 100% improve your reaction time and counters, we only started using it this year as I had to test and adjust it and teach it to everyone first but the first guy who fought after having been doing it this way easily won his fight and also got boxer of the night, appreciate you being here brother 👍🥊
2:56 This part made me laugh😆 HUGE STEPS. But you are right , I've seen a majority of boxers , Jeet kune do practicioners making that same mistakes, lil steps is way more direct . Bruce Lee didn't make huge steps , he make lil minimum footsteps , but quick even I couldn't keep up , so I still do it slow and put a lil speed as possible
Completely right brother all your movement, be it feet, head, upper body etc wants to minimal and energy efficient, big step will make you unbalanced as well thanks for the comment and watching the video my friend 👍🥊
This should have a m illion views, but people never liked hard work. They like the fancy stuff their favourite boxer would not be able to pull off without perfect basics.
I appreciate your kind comment although when I first stopped competing due to severe injuries I did get very very overweight, glad I turned that around 👍🥊
Oh, The Sweet Science bombing Internet's Eddy Reynosos and providing free, factual, actually working boxing drills and methods without selling golden carrots! Why am I not surprised? You're the best by the vastest margin!
Really appreciate your comment my friend I’m just trying to help people get real advice so they can improve their skills , thanks for supporting my little channel 👍🥊
@@coachcraiguk as I told you some time ago, your channel should be anything but little, I'll go as far as saying that I believe it to be the best boxing channel on UA-cam.
@francescogatti4590 I’m really grateful for your comment brother and I’m glad we’ve been able to connect over UA-cam , I’m very thankful for you and all my supporters 😊👍🥊
Not as bad as other martial arts nowadays for bad advice. But from the very beginning of your video I can tell you would be a great to coach to learn from
Couldn’t agree more , yes I can do the “fancy “ stuff but your right hard work, the right work ethic and a good understanding of the basics and fundamentals will take you as far as you wanna go 👍🥊
Technically very good advice. I hope you stick to this gig for a few more years. Maybe get a voice coach. I feel you could be more expressive. And some young students involved. All the best.
I appreciate you comment my friend and that’s sound advice so thank you , I have some defensive tutorials coming up where I will be using one of our juniors to help with that , thanks brother 👍🥊

That Mayweather mitts routine dazzled a lot of people, i made zero progress with a trainer who drilled everyone with that.
