Thank you for your video. I'm planning to watch the others too shortly. I have recently purchased an IFB dishwasher and experimented with different types of vessels. I have not encountered any problems while using melamine plates and heavy aluminum kadai-s in it. I usually keep it on Eco mode where the water temperature is at 50°C . While I find the dishwasher to be useful on the whole, I am very disappointed when it comes to stainless steel vessels in which milk was boiled or rice was cooked. Can you please suggest what I can do?
Hi Prema, thank you for your feedback! While you may not see visible changes, dishwasher manufacturers recommend not to use aluminium due to chemical reaction. I have made a video regarding the same here ua-cam.com/video/0iv1S7rlGbw/v-deo.html. Regarding melamine, again the reaction will not be visible. If you are using good quality melamine and the melamine manufacturer says it is dishwasher safe - it's OK to use it. Else, Melamine is inherently plastic - which does not react well to heat and if exposed, the plastic seeps into our food when used. About stainless steel vessels - what is the issue you are facing? There are few things to check: 1. Are you keeping it in the bottom tray? That's where the heat is the most and is required to remove tough stains. 2. Try a different cycle - try to use an intensive cycle and see if it solves the problem 3. Check your hard water settings and salt settings. If salt is inadequate, you may still face white stains or residue in your vessels. I predominantly use the auto mode - with Finish dishwasher tablet and do not have any issues. Im a little dissapointed with kadhai wash..my kadhai is getting washed but its quite dull from inside..outside its shiney but inside The colour is not uniform..it feels cloudy and dull..have u faved such issue and what should be done in such case? Have u ever experinced it?
Hi Demi! 1. I recommend you adjust your rinse aid setting. It looks like soap is left over. 2. What tablet/detergent are you using? I often use Finish and don't have this issue. Recently I started using this - amzn.to/3hDotcL and the results are even better. I did a giveaway in this video ua-cam.com/video/DD1N25H6Yek/v-deo.html of this product and other people that used it also found their kadais and other vessels quite shiny. I think it may be due to the detergent/tablet you are using.
Hi, I have the same Faber 14 place dishwasher , after cycle there’s water on the door and sides of the machine (inside) and the top rack where you stack spoons , they are not dry, is this normal ?
Mam recently I bought faber dishwasher. It runs for 2hrs 10 mints at slow mode but steel vessels are coming out wth rough surface and light whitish marks appear on it what should I do?
Hi, this could be because of salts in water. Please check the salt added to the dishwasher as well as the setting for hardness of water. Also make sure you descale your dishwasher regularly. You will get descalers that you can purchase.
Thank you for letting us know 🙏 😊 can stainless cookers and stove burners (the four legs thing on which we keep the vessel😂)go in the dish washer ? And can we out the net mesh strainer in it whether its plastic or metal ?
My dishes are getting a Little soapy after wash. What can be the reason? Shall I use less of detergent or is there anything else i should fix. I'm quite concerned about it, as there is still a bit of dissatisfaction after the usage.
Hi. Thank you for your video. They’re very helpful. Do you wash pressure cooker lids in dishwasher? On stahl’s website I read that they don’t recommend cleaning lids due to valve. What’s your opinion on this? Can you recommend a pressure cooker in which I can also clean the lid? Thanks
Yes, it is not recommended to clean the lids. I occasionally do but make sure that the pressure valve does not have any food particles stuck. It's the same issue with all pressure cookers :)
Thanks for the informative video. However i would like to point out one mistake in your video. The symbol used in your video actually means that the vessel/container is food grade safe. Dishwasher safe symbol is a different symbol which has two plates in its design.
Very helpful 👍 but can we use steel pressure cooker in dishwasher? I've seen there base is made of aluminium though. It's very confusing. Sometimes they have aluminium in the center of a utensils for better heat distribution.
Hi Priya! Thanks! Yes stainless steel can be used. If the aluminium is an exposed surface - its recommended not to put it in the dishwasher as it harms the metal (more details here ua-cam.com/video/0iv1S7rlGbw/v-deo.html). If it is a layer between steel (which is what you may see in some vessels to leverage its heat conductivity) then its fine to use in the dishwasher. Hope that’s clear!
Hi Pooja! Thank you :) I know, I realized that :( But I'm unable to fix it after posting. I'll do one thing - I'll hide that symbol altogether - so people don't get confused. Thanks for pointing it out.

Hi Soumya, I just watched this video and I really appreciate your candid review on the dishwasher safe vessels. I have been using a Bosch dishwasher for the past four years and these are my observations. 1. Nonstick vessels. I regularly wash my Prestige Omega nonstick kadai and pan in the dishwasher and nothing has happened to them . I have been using the same kadai and pan for the past three years. But this is not the same with one of my local brand nonstick pan. It comes out with a white coating. 2. I have also been washing my steel Prestige pressure cooker and its lid in the dishwasher for the past few years. So far there isn't any problem with the lid. 3. I wash all my wooden ladles in the dishwasher. Some of them are very old. All are intact. These are purely my observations . Just to bring it to your notice and not to contradict any of your observations. I use Finish brand detergents and salt.
Hi Raji, thanks for sharing your feedback :) This is great! Actually - I myself know that many people do put aluminium and non-stick vessels in the dishwasher (and have seen many youtubers demoing that too). To the naked eye, you may not see the difference. But scientifically - the detergents used have a negative reaction to aluminium and non-stick and that's why manufacturers themselves recommend not to use it. (I have created a specific video on that if it interests you - ua-cam.com/video/0iv1S7rlGbw/v-deo.html With regards to wooden ladle and boards - I'm glad nothing has happened to yours :) But my inlaws put their cutting board and it was cut into two :D The challenge with wood is that the heat and moisture harm the wood - which could warp or break it. But I'm so happy that you posted a review here. Dishwashers are some of the most underrated appliances - I feel it is so useful.
Thank you so much for answering my query. I have one more doubt. Suppose I have already put salt and rinse aid in respective compartment...but I want to use tablets after that on one or two occasions. Then is it ok ?
Hi Syeda, depends on the brand. But you can place it on the higher shelf where heat is low. Since these don't directly come in contact with food, may be OK.
My Daughter in Law in Canada, washes mixer jars in dishwasher, without any problem. As suggested by Saumya Ji, washing mixer jars in upper rack are safe. Still instructions on Grinder/mixers are very useful to know if the jars can be washed in Dishwasher.
You can put mud / terracota vessels in the dishwasher but make sure to wash it in a delicate cycle - as too much heat can disintegrate the vessel. Thanks for your kind feedback.
@@TheGrapevineIndia The problem is that earthenwares are naturally porous in nature so it absorbs toxic chemicals from detergent and leach into your food while cooking so this practice must avoided

Hi Pallavi, there is no research that calls that out. Popular detergents, salts and rinse aids are FDA approved. It cannot affect steel, but recommended not to use aluminium and non stick in dishwasher as it can affect those materials.
Hi @Aliza Shanum - thanks for writing in. There will be some changes that have to be made if you are using vessels that should not be put in the dishwasher. In the video at 04:36 I talk about all the vessels that you can use. Predominantly - stainless steel, glass, ceramic and other vessels only if they have been labeled dishwasher safe.
Hi @channelmvk - I have not found any organic detergent for dishwasher yet in India. However, irrespective of that, per dishwasher manufacturers- it should not be used as the combination of heat and detergent harms the aluminium vessels.
@@TheGrapevineIndia there is one eco friendly one on Amazon. And what about Anodized aluminum? Aren't they tough? www.amazon.in/dp/B08GC727RM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_q70SFb62VMY1J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

@manjari Which dishwasher do you have? This could be due to clogging of your water sprayers due to high level of hardness in water. See my video ua-cam.com/video/Zel7U2U2TAE/v-deo.html on how to clean your dishwasher where I speak about how to clean the sprayers. If the problem persists, call your dishwasher maintenance person as you may need additional filter for softening water OR adjust your salt consumption levels in your dishwasher.

Hi Annu, copper will get discolored. I do use steel with copper bottom in the dishwasher. In general - go by the recommendation that is provided manufacturer. Sometimes if the detailing is intricate, the recommendation is not to put in the dishwasher. Most of the ceramic vessels I purchase are dishwasher safe. For example - lately I purchased these - where manufacturer specifically said dishwasher and microwave safe :) nestasia.in/collections/bakeware/products/bowl-for-salad
Hi Miheeca, unless specifically mentioned that they are dishwasher safe - they aren’t. The older models of tupperware are not. Newer models are - but with some exceptions. Even if you do put tupperware or any dishwasher safe plastic - make sure you keep it in the top rack as that has lower heat. Lot of reviews also put aluminium and other unsafe materials - but those should not be - even as per the manufacturer.

In short, Dish washers are of not much use for indian homes. Good advise.
Adjustment is required for sure
Hy soumya!! I have two question to ask..i hope ill get some solutions..
1)My steel glass comes out pretty clean from dishwasher and there seem no traces of soap however when i pour water from filter i can see white foam on sides of water which is not much but doesnt seem apt for drinking and if i try the same with handwashed steel glasses the foam doesnt show and only few water bubbles can be seen..i dont put too much detergent also otherwise it would show .now everytime i take glasses out of dishwasher i rinse it with hand and then drink because of that foam thing..
2) secondly i wanted to ask that if u put stainless steel kadhai does it comes out shiny and fully cleaned from inside?
You covered all the points very well. Especially the cooker lid 👍
Hi, I have the same Faber 14 place dishwasher , after cycle there’s water on the door and sides of the machine (inside) and the top rack where you stack spoons , they are not dry, is this normal ?
Madam can i use only detergent in dishwasher ..as i am having kids those dishwasher cheamicals cause health issues to kids
You just listed all my kitchen utensil which I can't use to clean using dish washer.
😊 small changes def necessary
Hi Niyati, yes stainless steel cookers can go, stove burners - if made of iron - cannot. Yes net mesh strainers can go in the dishwasher.
@@TheGrapevineIndia thank you 😊
My dishes are getting a Little soapy after wash. What can be the reason? Shall I use less of detergent or is there anything else i should fix. I'm quite concerned about it, as there is still a bit of dissatisfaction after the usage.
Hi Divya, you may want to reduce your rinse aid setting.
Thanks for the note! Yes you are right! I will add a pinned comment with the correction.
Can we use brass and bronze with tin coating in dishwasher....will it cause damage for tin coating?
Hi Aish, Brass and bronze can get discolored in the dishwasher.
You can remove siti 9f pressure cooker lid and also the rubber tube
Hi, this is very useful information thank you. Is it ok to clean iron kadai (not cast iron) in dishwasher???
Hi Anusha, not safe to wash iron as well.
The lens distortion is annoying in this one. Just a bit of constructive criticism
Thanks Sharan :) I agree, it will be fixed soon for future videos.
Don’t know why watching this video a gives me a strange flash of my maid is coming in front of my eyes saying you can’t escape me.

Basically dont put high reactive metals in dishwasher
@@TheGrapevineIndia thanks!! You are a life saver 💜
Aww! Thanks 😊
Nice video. Please give link for stainless steel Kadai with flat bottom & heavy material which will prevent burning while boiling milk.
Thank you for watching and commenting! Yes, I have added that to the description now.
Your video is very good but Can you please tell me can we use mixer grinder in dishwasher
Hi Dhun, yes you can as long as the brand you use states it is ok. I was using philips and now usha and both have said they are dishwasher safe.
Can we use bell metal and brass items in dishwasher?
Hi Anuron, most of these - brass, bronze and silver items get discolored due to the detergents used in dishwasher.
Hey great video but pl correct the dishwasher safe symbol. The one u show is food grade plastic symbol
Hi Pooja! Thank you :) I know, I realized that :( But I'm unable to fix it after posting. I'll do one thing - I'll hide that symbol altogether - so people don't get confused. Thanks for pointing it out.
@@TheGrapevineIndia Hi. No worries. Thanks for the wonderful suggestions.

Only if you use a tablet. You can use both but set it to minimum setting
Thanks for the informative video. Pls advise if non stick cookware and La Opalla wares along with Futura Pressure Coookers can be used in a dishwasher
Hi Suman, thank you! Non stick cookware - no, Future pressure cookers - no (they are anodized aluminium), La Opala - yes (it is made of glass).
Hi mam, i just wanted to know whether Electric Rice Cooker pot can be used in dishwasher..? I am not getting enough info, even in user manual of Bajaj rice cooker. Thank you.
Hi Venkatesh, if it is aluminium- then no. In general - aluminium can get damaged/pitted in the dishwasher in the long term and can be a health hazard
Thank you for your reply mam, in continuation to my question, Silver plates etc can be washed in dishwasher..? Thanks again.

Hi Arti, unfortunately I do not know why that happened and don't have a fix too :( Sorry. I will check some more and let you know if I find something.
Very honest review. The points taken by you are true. Still there is a way out. We use upper rack for dishwasher safe plastics with Dual Zone option, which ensures milder water jets in upper rack. Keep on posting your reviews which are honest to the core.
Thank you! Yes dishwasher safe plastics can be used only in the upper rack as you rightly said. Lower rack has way too much heat for those.
Can you give links of chopping board , knife chakla tawa belan etc which can be used in dishwasher

Can we put mitti pots and vessels in dishwasher?
Hi Nikhila, yes you can.
(I have created a specific video on that if it interests you - ua-cam.com/video/0iv1S7rlGbw/v-deo.html
With regards to wooden ladle and boards - I'm glad nothing has happened to yours :) But my inlaws put their cutting board and it was cut into two :D The challenge with wood is that the heat and moisture harm the wood - which could warp or break it.
But I'm so happy that you posted a review here. Dishwashers are some of the most underrated appliances - I feel it is so useful.
Can we wash silver products in dishwasher?

Hi Girish, clay and ceramic pots can be.
Hi , Good helpful content. Would like to know if silicone and nylon spoons can be washed in a dish washer?
Hi Dona, yes they are very heat resistant and dishwasher safe. Thanks for the feedback! - Saumya.
Can we use copper bottom stainless steel vessels in dishwasher ?
Hi Vaishali, no issue from a safety point of view, but can get a bit discolored. With Aluminium - there could be a safety issue with corrosion.
Thank you so much for answering my query. I have one more doubt. Suppose I have already put salt and rinse aid in respective compartment...but I want to use tablets after that on one or two occasions. Then is it ok ?
Can grinder jars with plastic handles and lids of grinders with plastic belts be washed in dishwashers?
Hi Syeda, depends on the brand. But you can place it on the higher shelf where heat is low. Since these don't directly come in contact with food, may be OK.
My Daughter in Law in Canada, washes mixer jars in dishwasher, without any problem. As suggested by Saumya Ji, washing mixer jars in upper rack are safe. Still instructions on Grinder/mixers are very useful to know if the jars can be washed in Dishwasher.
Can I put earthen pots in dishwasher?

Can wash bronze (कांस्य) utensils in dishwasher?
I've not got the answer even from the technician came for demo.
Hi @V Z, it will get discolored if you wash it in the dishwasher.
So, it seems even brass kadais also won't work with dishwasher.
Hi! It does get discolored due to the detergent and heat.
Thank you for such specific things you mentioned. But can ypu guide if nonstic kafais tavas saucepans can be used? As they too are alluminium
Hi Anjali S! Non stick in general should not be used in dishwasher.
What about mud (मिट्टी) vessels? Ok? Not Okay?
Anyways awesome information & your videos deserves multiple lakh views for sure
You can put mud / terracota vessels in the dishwasher but make sure to wash it in a delicate cycle - as too much heat can disintegrate the vessel. Thanks for your kind feedback.
@@TheGrapevineIndia The problem is that earthenwares are naturally porous in nature so it absorbs toxic chemicals from detergent and leach into your food while cooking so this practice must avoided

It was so stupid of me, please let me know if i should throw it away ?
What about brass, bronze, tin vessels ??
Hi Dhananjaya, no safety issues with those, but could get discolored.
Hii mam....I want ask can dishwasher make cancer or not bez its high heat chemicals n can this is affect on metal of steel of our utenils
Hi Pallavi, there is no research that calls that out. Popular detergents, salts and rinse aids are FDA approved. It cannot affect steel, but recommended not to use aluminium and non stick in dishwasher as it can affect those materials.
Thanku so much mam
Than what is left, to be used in dish washer.
So dish washer doesn't fit Indian kitchen.
@@TheGrapevineIndia Thank you
Everything I currently use are in shouldn't category😕 looks like I will end up washing everything myself nd dishwasher will celebrate vacation.
Hi Vaishali Rastogi! Sorry about the delay, some changes will be required yes.
I was reading somewhere that eco friendly detergents can be used for aluminum. Is it true?
Hi @channelmvk - I have not found any organic detergent for dishwasher yet in India. However, irrespective of that, per dishwasher manufacturers- it should not be used as the combination of heat and detergent harms the aluminium vessels.
@@TheGrapevineIndia there is one eco friendly one on Amazon. And what about Anodized aluminum? Aren't they tough?
www.amazon.in/dp/B08GC727RM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_q70SFb62VMY1J?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
Thank you for sharing! Very useful. Also - as you can see in the questions in this product, the seller states its not been tested on Aluminium as dishwasher manufacturers state it should not be used.
Hard anodized is also aluminium based, so should not be used.

How can I differentiate between melamine and ceramic
Hi Praneeta, melamine is generally plasticky and ceramic is more like a stone finish. Melamine is light and ceramic will be heavy.
Ok my dishwasher gets e4 error after every wash . May I know the reasons and how can this be solved

Sometimes if the detailing is intricate, the recommendation is not to put in the dishwasher. Most of the ceramic vessels I purchase are dishwasher safe. Is no Tupperware dishwasher safe? As a lot of reviews do put Tupperware inside the dishwasher
