Ditto for the last thing. I go one step above at the end of boss fights. Just screw QTEs. All of them. Even the not crap ones. For every Yakuza 0, there's 15 Dying Light 1 Rais fights. For every Heay Rain, there's 15 of the Sonic Unleashed PS3/Xbox 360 push Y 60 times in 2 seconds on the last hit on the final boss.
Yes. Its all true. I also laughed at the story which was mother this father that. It seemed like it is the most easy and obvious thing to do. Anyway, I liked what kind of vibe it left. It was, quite nicely presented world with unique details. I would say there was potential for something great but it would need double the time and money. I wonder how it sold.
Having to add another reason: The high-jacking camera irritated me in yet another way. Every few steps it would often reset my view to "looking down from behind, slightly above, Nilin" making the orange arrows disappear slightly above the view port. Climbing felt often same-y. Might be due to playing in semi-wide-screen (3440x1440), but for a long time I assumed the main game mechanic/challenge was "adjust the camera until a orange arrow appears". Didn't play it through, which seemed like a shame for the production values.
You've said it all. I hated my time on this game when it came out. It's sooo boring. I also used 2 combos during the whole game which I find crazy. The unskipabble cutscenes after failing a chase section is something that can make me ragequit a game instantly nowadays, excpet maybe Max Payne 3 because it's good. Removing control from the player is really one of the most frustrating thing a video game can do.
All of your points have merit, it seems to me this game was made with a very specific type of player in mind, a platformer. So basically what this game seems to be is a platformer with good graphics and a few out of the box mechanics thrown in with a story. Nothing more.
Its not a good platformer at all its all on rails and very scripted If you wanna go play a good platformer go play mirror edge , super mario 64, or like any other 2d platformer does it better its not even a platforming game
I dont understand why Nilins brother has an american accent and she has a british one. This has fail written all over it, and yeah I agree I dont like his voice either. Seems like they just splurged on Nilin and took whoever off the street for her brother.
I never hear people talk about this game. I distinctly remember this game as "the worst game I ever finished." Thank you for the validation ♥️
LOL! You’re welcome! Thanks for commenting! But the game does have its fans. It makes me wonder if they’ve just never played better games.

Gorgeous world. Terrible game.

Climbing is the worst!
"for a long time I assumed the main game mechanic/challenge was 'adjust the camera until an orange arrow appears'" - LOL
