How brilliant is this arrangement? With the fabulous horns covering the guitar parts !! And of course Dave kills it, sounding as great vocally as he did on the original. He is a super talented man !!
I was so fortunate to have caught a Dave Edmunds live show in the late eighties. He tore the house down! I've seen just about everyrone in concert, and Dave Edmunds stands as one of my favorites. The guy respects the craft, and I hope he continues to perform until he'a 100.
I was 15 years old when the song was released it was a classic video which I first watched 6 years ago on UA-cam it was a classic song I wish we could go back to the days of the 1970.s

I've always been a fan of his musicianship and standards. Dave's responsible for some great music since the late 60's or early 70's. He's also been responsible for the Carl Perkins and Friends concert. Thanks Dave!
@Dave Edmunds Dave, thank you for taking the time to leave this comment. I feel like I've been hit by a Rockpile...in the best way. Be well and thanks again.
Wow this was 12 years ago but he was still sounding great. I saw him in the mid 80s in a bar/small club - One of the best shows I have ever seen. Just an amazing talent.
I was at an unnanounced Dave Edmunds concert at my college in August 1982. He was huge, of course, with the college crowd in those days, but by the time word got out, half the concert was over! More importantly, I sat at the foot of the two-foot high stage on the grass of the quad. Happy times!
I´m 70, and I have seen quite some concerts in my life. But I never managed to see a Dave Edmunds concert. Now he´s retired. Now I know why leaves turn brown in autumn!
ok i am going to defend dave here: This is PURE talent and lot better than the crap YOU LOT listen to like gaga and cyrus whom have no talent except that of dressing like Prozzies! Yes I can talk as I am self confessed METAL HEAD! with tastes like Paradise Lost, Rammstein, Lucana Coil etc: So if a METAL HEAD can appreciate talent like this then so can you! Get a grip! You go dave and well done!"
Just imagine if Gilson Lavis and jools Holland had played with Dave in the 70's??? Gilson is the steadiest rock in the world - hittin' never missin'... And Dave still Rocks!! Hey Geoff- check out your bro - he's still boogieing with the best of 'em man!! Mikey xxx
I love Dave Edmonds. Got this on 7 inch vynal. Have played it again for the first time in, so many years. (just bought a new player) Great to hear it again. Great to see him on tv again too! Thanks for posting, enjoyed watching.
@Steve Sturges Yes Gilson Lavis who played I think on the first nine Squeeze albums but you might want to check that. I seem to remember Elvis’s drummer from The Attractions, another great drummer, Pete Thomas playing on Some Fantastic Place. Gilson now tours with Jools but also an impressive artist I seem to remember from an old Modern Drummer article and he has had exhibitions so multi-talented.
Brilliant, so crisp, all these years later. He even sings every backup vocal lyrics. Passionate and talented. RRHF he deserves.
The RRHF is a joke..
How brilliant is this arrangement? With the fabulous horns covering the guitar parts !! And of course Dave kills it, sounding as great vocally as he did on the original. He is a super talented man !!
Dave Edmunds should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
with Billy Bremner and Mickey Gee
He's Not?!?!
@@jeffreyrausa2098 Nope. So many lame-ass acts in it. I don't vote for it anymore.
No doubt about it
The R&R HOF is now a joke.
One of those tracks that still sounds superb 40 years on. Loved it then and now. Never tire of hearing it . A great era to be Alive
Has not lost an ounce of talent and ability in 30 years. Impressive performance.
They don't make 'em like Dave Edmund's anymore..a true musician and a star :-)
very true an amazing song they don't make songs like this anymore
@@davinadavis4930 seriously, he's not? Say more about the HOF than it does about Dave Edmunds, that's for sure.
You can't stop great music. It NEVER gets old
Dave Edmunds is so freakin talented!!! He just loves to perform and it shows in every performance! ☮️🖖🏽
Fantastic. His voice is great live - no blips at all. I love this song and adore this version. Brilliant artist.
His live voice is amazing
I remember this track, just rediscovered and I love it more now than then, pure fun and excitement ♥️
I love all versions of this song, but Dave's voice just fits it like a glove.
I was shocked how good he sounds 30 years on from the record.
Make that 40
He’s a tone down
A instead of B
He knows to suit his changing voice, and he sounds fantastic
Plus another few years . It's timeless.
Very clearly dropped the pitch: the capo is a dead give-away of that.
Brilliant…..
Such a great melody,....
dave may be getting older but the voice is as strong as ever ! the best song costello ever wrote
Dave Edmunds, one of the best ever.
Agreexx
DAVE!!! You always kill it every time. You sir are a legend.
It's so good,,real music Dave Edmunds is brilliant and watching Annie Lennox having a good time and as sublime artist herself shows how good this is
Tha man can rock! Thanks for all the years Dave. You have entertained millions with your pipes and unique style.

He is a great guitar player and producer!
Who's here in 2024?
Me. I love this song :)
OMG he still sounds and plays and looks as good as he did when he first started out.
What a way to bring down the house. That's amazing

I agree! The 21st Century is full of strife and struggle and mega rich ejits destroying peoples' lives. '79 was amazing x
Wasn’t it ‘78?

Yes also very much as a guitarist

I agree 100% with all that’s been said here. I think you’re wonderful Dave Edmunds…God bless you 🥰

He also produced fellow Canadien k.d. Lang's first release.
MR DAVE EDMUNDS IS THE TOP! LOVE HIM AND HIS MUSIC BIG BIG FAN ME!
That's Chris Difford and Annie Lennox jamming out and singing along to Dave Edmonds…that is very cool.
Full respect to Costello for writing and singing this song but this is my favourite version. Linda was pretty cool aswell
I love seeing Gilson Lavis drumming on this song!
I didn't realize what a great drummer until I saw this.
First thing that caught my ear. What a drummer!
I know what a joy it is having a good drummer in the band!
This was his era. Late 70’s & 80’s with Squeeze .... he was just the best!
@@davidsutherland7737 Yes! Saw Squeeze in concert three times and he sounded great every time. The whole band did.
Amazing song I was only 5 when it was first released Dave is amazing live here more than I can say for a loyalty of modern pop stars now
One of my all time favs. Brilliant live version. Thanks
This is six years ago, but it's great to see Dave Edmunds again. He's been reclusive.
Love the glance at 1.14 at jools Holland as if to say yes i've still got it ! Gilson lavis loving it too brilliant
God love Dave Edmunds! Keep on rockin'
Simply a MASTERPIECE of his Song by a BRILLIANT Artiste ..... {{ And WHAT a Band too ...!!!! }}
Elvis Costello's song?
Never Knew that Steven ..
Always thought it was Dave's ..
Elvis wrote it and recorded it on his album 'get happy' but of course Dave made a great hit of it.
Yeah! Rock On Dave!!! ...And that drummer!!!
This will be on the heavy rotation list on my digital headstone. Thanks Dave and Thanks to neveratime.

IC Diamond ... and back before Autotune !
IC Diamond that said, Elvis Costello did actually write the song... And Dave made it an enduring classic
IC Diamond Elvis Costello wrote this song and gave it to Dave. Just be clear Dave kicked ass with it
It's "who" not "whom".
Another class Welshman. Keep the Dragon flying Dave. Fab.

How many times do we need to thank a great musician lyricist for their work. I dunno from 79.
Are you talking about Elvis Costello with your comment?

Quite a production. The drummer was nailing i! No one sleeping in this band. Great tune of course.
