First record single i bought was i hear you knocking 1970 i was 9 years old ,i love Dave Edmunds voise and guitar playing a true Rock n Roll Legend thanks for the music....Mel UK
Grande Dave Edmunds per prima volta ho cominciato a sentire le sue performance nel 80' suonavano la chitarra elettrica a 16 anni,un artista molto sottovalutato dalla critica e media. Bravo Dave vita lunga ❤🎉❤...
Absolutely the keeper of the flame for Rockabilly, '50"s RnB, Country, et al! Without him guitarists from the mid-Seventies onward wouldn't have known what foundational rock playing sounded like! I will listen to Dave's music until I can't hear anymore! Godspeed Dave!
The best. So underrated. All of his versions of songs done by others too blow them away. Queens of hearts, girls talk, I knew the bride (a tie with Nick’s for me). And so on!
I was first turned onto Dave in the 1980s by a local band who played several of his songs. I was very fortunate to see Dave play solo about 10 years ago in small venue. Sat feet away from him. Told many interesting stories.
One of the all time greats, love Dave’s playing & his sheer craftsmanship as a musician. Rockpile was one of the best live acts you’ll ever see... it’s a complete mystery to me why they weren’t bigger than Queen, ELO & all the rest of the nonsenses who ‘ship platinum’ on every release!
It's hard to speculate about this, but, perhaps it was difficult for savy money-hungry, businessmen, to market 'Rockpile,' and, perhaps, their music (and Edmond's sophisticated guitar-playing with a raw edge) lacked the necessary disco flash and shallow sex appeal that other bands contained and tried to project in the late '70s.
I saw him for the first time in Malmo a few weeks before that show. Something told me to travel from Baltimore maryland to malmo to see him. I'm glad I did.
As a teenager i first saw Dave in a 3 tier joint near Cardiff Central station called "Whisky-a-go-go,around 1964 there was a band on each floor, I remember. I stood in front of the stage and watched him play "That'll be the day" Holly,I think he played a Gretch and the sound was awesome
Love his style ! I enjoy doing his music as it suits my playing and vocal style with that great slap-back echo from the early rock years ! It's pure magic to me !
Yes, IF you can turn up a say good old tweed or Marshall type amp full tilt and control the overdrive w/ the guitar volume. Otherwise, there is an arguement for master volume amps and pedals.
Be still foolish heart! I have loved Dave from back when he first started. Not ashamed to say that I have always had a crush on him. Like that would ever come to pass. lol... Seriously his renditions of Chuck Berry tunes and The Wanderer are classics! One of the best was I Hear Ya Knockin'.
If this is DE’s retirement gig, what a way to finish up! Have been on the ride since 1970 when 50’s oriented music wasn’t fashionable. Dave (and his collaborators over the years) gave it at least 9 new lives but then, he is a cool cat. During a UK visit in 2008 I made the pilgrimage to Monmouth and Rockfield while staying at a B&B in nearby Symonds Yat. The owner used to have a beer with DE in the pub but that’s as close as I got…
The closest I got besides seeing Rockpile twice was meeting Albert Lee side stage at a small outdoor venue in Markham ON (just north of Toronto), getting a selfie with him, and asking him how Dave was doing. His eyes lit up and he said he was doing great, and that they got together at Dave's 70th birthday.
Praise GOD this is a gift!! SOUNDS BRILLIANT VOICE GUITAR GROOVE the best of the best!!!come back dave m8 t to tv to london to something. Please sir may I have a lot MORE!!!!!! miss my fave dave. same age as s.e. bromley, london, teddy boy HUB! rocking robin from so. cal . ps Carlene Carter lives about an hr. away.
Heureux de retrouver Dave ,au parcours de musiciens incroyable ,il à joué et chanté avec les plus grands ,mais très méconnu hélas en France, impossible de trouver ses disques !
Audio near Pristine. Thanks for capturing this gig. Dave sounds in top form. Was this really his last ever gig? Great band behind Dave. Excellent Piano work too.
Can't keep the bestetss roots welsh rocker producer music man extraordinaire down. MISS YOU love to you and bless you Dave Edmunds, former L.A. rockabilly roots 50's fanatic(was with Eugene Church from the L.A. group harmony platters, coasters and dueted with Jesse Belvin as the Cliques in his last 2 yrs.)up to YOU, k.d., Carlene my neighbor north of me and my s.e. 1944 born london boy/paramedic(and yes he met a lot of you folk in the 60s 70's) COME BACK! play in Ventura, or Santa Barbara*like Brian Did with his orchestra. missing and blessing you sir! you rock me to me soul! aye! I've got nearly all his albums and Rockpile. I always wanted to marry him. Told everyone every time his music came on. Said as a joke but I meant it really.
To the 9 poor souls who gave this a thumbs down, may you find solace in life with Justin Bieber.....
Fuck’em

A total legend. I hope he does a comeback gig because I’ll be first in the queue for a ticket. Thanks for posting this.
Dave retired years ago.
Dave has been one of my idols since the early 70's and now he's in his early 70's and is still a BADASS!
He is the UK'S Chuck Berry.
Chris Nicklason I’d say even better! Great talent, great guy 😊

Wish I’d been there, sound fantastic!! Love Dave Edmunds.
Simplemente el mejor Sir Dave Edmunds thanks for uploading the video
It's always danger to declare a Greatest of All Time in rock and roll, but Dave may just well be it.
Sooo Good! Rock on Dave! I LOVE his guitar work, always have.

Always plays the guitar as it should be. No effects needed with this man.
Nor with Chuck Berry.

I've seen him 5 times. Only one word... AMAZING!!

Playing a final show in July 2017, he was reported to have retired from the music business
Dave has more than earned his retirement after 50 years.
Edmunds rocks.
Habs blow.
To paraphrase a common sports metaphor..."He left it all on the stage"...
My Holy Edmunds!!
The incredible Dave Edmunds
Great backing band
Absoulete legend 🎸🎸🎸🎸Dougie W.Australia

First time I've seen him play a tele, he usually has his Gibson ES

I've got nearly all his albums and Rockpile. I always wanted to marry him. Told everyone every time his music came on. Said as a joke but I meant it really.
I'm not even gay, and I wanted to marry him, too! (Have owned much of his catalogue over the years, and seen him twice, including once with Rockpile).
He IS going to read this now, catmadwoman ....
You asked x It !!
Would love to see a Rockpile reunion
Dave is sick, Terry's body can't take it anymore, and Nick is a dick. But hey...you still got Billy out there on the road.
FAB FAB FAB......
Yes RAa yes
he could certainly make tha guitar talk
If the RRHOF wasn't a sham, Dave Edmunds would be in it
J Dubbiyou - You are SO right . Sorry to hear that he’s retired from performing , but what a rich legacy he’s left us .
Not only that, he would have been in YEARS ago.
Hear hear J Dubbiyou. A veritable rock 'n' roll great!
why does he sing so fast?
It matches the tempo of the song.
@@davidanderson8469 yes i see that but why is the tempo so fast then?
Wocka wocka.
They don't come any better...
You camera man.
Sad to hear Dave lose his way towards the end, even playing in the wrong key...19.09
I just discoverd him at 56- i think he passwd away early 24- God rest hiua sole* There could have had a better camera man
:D Up! Anna&Tinja
6 people here are in desperate need of hearing test or seriously need musical re education
The first one sounds a lot like 'Johnny B Goode'?
That's 'Let It Rock' (Chuck Berry)
WTF is that on the back of that kids head in front of the camera?
It's an alian beetle that makes him keep looking around to see if anyone is looking at him.
Jimmy Jones I imagine it is some sort of hearing aid. Seems fairly obvious to me
@@johnlawrence2757 If the dude needs a hearing aid then maybe he shouldn't be jamming at the rock pile show . lol
Jimmy Jones Hey every singer does that now, for monitoring their vocals
Cochlear implant.
How, how, how can people in the audience just stand there?
Desnaucitr Fress!!!
Finnarna förstår sig ej på att rocka loss ORDENTLIGT till en bra låt

Fucking atrocious drum sound, especially on Sabre Dance...sounds like he's bashing an amplified biscuit tin!
