Beautiful watch, completely unreasonable pricing. For $3k we are in mid tier Swiss on Jomashop; Longines, Oris, Tudor, heck, even a few Omegas. Its a $1200 watch MAX. Poor value for money.
I find it odd that you feel able to comment on the value for money without having any real knowledge of this brands watches, i have an m100ac and before that I had a BB58 the quality of the vertex is no different to the Tudor the lume is better and the accuracy is no different yet the Tudor is double the price if you look at the ranger from Tudor you will get an even better comparison. While i understand value for money is subjective I suggest owning one will give you a better perspective.
@@wolfdog170the Ranger is actually a fair comparison but not in the way you suggest. They’re similarly priced and both rely on ‘heritage’ marketing. The Vertex arguably has more pull in that respect but then it doesn’t have the movement the Tudor boasts. You can’t compare in-house COSC certification to a standard Selita. I don’t think the Vertex is outrageously priced in comparison to the Ranger
x2 I remember the last time I looked at their website the prices were ~£1k to £1.5k I might have been prepared to pay that but they were all too big for me. 🤷
I disagree, I've had both and this Vertex is on another level compared to those brands. If i was to have one grip with the Vertex is they could have done with putting an engraving on the crown.
I love the ww2 aesthetic for field watches. However the specs of the originals were hopeless in terms of water-resistance, shock-proofing, case durability , accuracy etc. However, that doesn't mean I'd happily shell-out 2 grand+ on this watch. I have a Baltany 36mm sub-second, that captures perfectly the aesthetic and cost less than £150 and I'm more than satisfied with it.
hi WG, great video and commentary! my favorite DDozen re-issue since the M100 but it was too big. the M36 is a great size. updating it to an automatic movement I believe is the right thing, but value for dollar it is a bit overpriced. resale value or looking at watches as investments doesn’t apply to me. keep up the good work!
I seem to recall that when Vertex launched they played some sort of marketing game that turned me off the brand. Had this watch said Omega or Longines on the dial, I'd have already bought one. Thoughtful review.
The most interesting feature of this watch is does it have screw in lugs? I think that’s an interesting alternative to spring bar or fixed. I’d be attracted to a 38mm non-military field watch with screw in 20mm lugs
I used to have the original dirty dozen watch by Lemania. It had much longer minute hand and broad-end hour hand like the Omega shown in the video. Compared to that, the minute hand of Vertex M36 looks too short to my preference. That alone can be a good reason for me to go for other similarly styled watch. I think that hands would make it difficult to tell the time at a glance in the low light condition.
I know Smiths didn't make a Dirty Dozen, but Timefactors have done a great job with their Smiths homage. It's a good deal cheaper but presents an equivalent watch to the Vertex at under £500. Some may feel the Vertex is worth its price being an original maker. I'm not convinced, and buying the Smiths only confirmed my view that Vertex are charging more proportionately than some major Swiss brands for their name.
Did they have 3D lume in WWII? Personally, I wouldn't be fooled for a single second into believing this watch had stormed any beaches. 😂 I do love the 3D lume though but my itch has been sensually scratched by that gorgeous wee French number the Baltic Hermetique Tourer. 😄👍)?
Lovely watch. Not a lot of these about. 100% worth every penny when you know what Vertex do to the movements and you consider that this is made by one of the original DD makers!
So many ignorant fools in this comments section. Why should a Tudor be more value than a Vertex? Is a Rolex worth twice as much as a Tudor? Is a Seiko Marinemaster worth 10x the value of a “normal” Seiko SKX? Value in the watch world is objectively subjective. Vertex watches are definitely not cheap but they are well worth it to me. I have literally never experienced better costumer service with a watch brand than Vertex. Imagine having a problem with your Tudor, due to an accident where the watch got damaged, and they send you a brand new watch, if you just returned the old damaged one. Trust me Vertex is in a league of their own. Not cheap. If you want a cheap watch buy something else. If you want cheap, low quality food but that. If you want high quality that is better for you, better for the environment, you have to spend a little more. Vertex is the organic, grass fed beef. That costs a little extra.
Beautiful watch but they’re smoking crack if they think this is work ANYTHING above 1k. I’ll stick with my Khaki field or my Murph this is insane pricing . It is beautiful but absolutely unacceptable pricing.
No, it is not worth it. Not when so many other companies offer this same esthetics for much less. You want a legit military watch, get a GShock mudmaster, mudman, square 5600, or if you still want the snob approach but with actual military pedigree, Marathon GSAR, which cost as much as this nostalgic cash grab.
The Vaer, the Praseidus, and others will over brilliant watches of the same design for less than $800. It’s a total joke. I appreciate the mission but this dude is just robbing us blind.
$3000k USD for a 36mm Sellita field watch is absolutely hilarious. Good one guys.

Couldn't agree more. Pricing is insane. This needs to be on the Sinn level of $1.7k max. like the 556
Yep. Price stopped me from purchasing the M100A.
Yep, what he said.

I would be interested in the M100A if it was under $1,500, but not at $3,000 for a Selita movement.
x2

Beautiful but the price is madness, when you consider what you can get from CWC, Hamilton etc
I disagree, I've had both and this Vertex is on another level compared to those brands.

@@hockingham7160 interesting.. May be worth a try some day
These would sell so well if it was priced correctly.

I like this watch a whole lot, but I can't justify the price of what essentially a field watch with a simple complication.
im sure its very nice but i settled for the baltany version
🤣👍

The 3D markers & lume might be cool, but I think you could get a piece of history with the Timor dirty dozen re-issue at half the price.

What is the movement powering this particular piece?

Militado D12 for £55.👍

@Klunker1 I've got the brown one too. Brilliant watch! 👍

I really like the watch but for that money I’m just going to wait for Tudor to release a Ranger in 36mm

The pricing is ridiculous. The end.
Love how they charge that price but only ship it in a crappy plastic box. 😄
Do you wear the box on your wrist? Perhaps you do? 😂😂
In a word, no. But it is quite nice-looking . . . like a lot of other field watches.
Too expensive. I prefer the Vaer A12 that I have. A great dirty dozen style watch for $799.
You mean $999
@@turnbasedtoddy7664 They have raised the price considerably since I purchased the watch last December. I still prefer the Vaer A12.

I’m with you, but those others watches are just copies. This company is one of the original manufacturers of the dirty dozen design.
Ludicrous. Who would pay this with the likes of Hamilton on the market at 1/4 to 1/6 the price of a Vertex?
Not worth the money.
Buy Hanhart…..German…..first class.
