I'm such a lover of lumed numerals on a dial. Loved them since I was a child. I was recently offered the Rolex explorer 124270 and turned it down because I had a feeling a better field watch existed and this was on my radar. HOWEVER with 6.3 inch wrists I've been looking for something in the 36-38mm range with lug to lug under 48 (which is my max before I hit an over hang). @vertex if you're reading these please consider making a smaller watch maybe a manual wind or screwdown or keep the automatic but just thinner and smaller for proportionality sakes for those who can't pull this off. I know not buying the Rolex was a smart decision because you guys make the best dials for field watches!!!! This thing is stunning. Everything about it but the size. Lugnwidth, crystal, proportions are great just smaller 😅🙏 Please and thank you ❤
Great review. I’ve owned the original manual-wind M100 for almost two years now and can honestly say, the “new” never wears off. It remains one of my favorite watches ever, and sees a lot more wrist time than anything else in my box.
Stunning video Tom, wow! Packed with history, details and some stunning videography of a very handsome watch. This is something I am certain Don will be very proud of, exactly like the M100A. Great to get a look behind the camera too you lovely man you x Thanks for sharing this one with us!

What a beauty and have been a fan of their work for quite some time now thanks to HendersonsHorology. I especially love the end! A great reveal and always great to see you brother
The quality is impressive and yes, a step up from what Timor offers: indices, AR coating, case finishing and a few extras in the case. Enough to justify a price more than double? I don't know. Great video BTW
Integrated seconds hands with center dial had a higher cost, so the procurement department opted for cost saving measure and ordered sub seconds dial as well as steel cases. People for some reason forget that these watches were tools and not high horological marvels. The current reproduction from Benrus, 3061, Bulova Hack, Hamilton Khaki, and this example have far superior build quality then those original ones.
Love this watch. 40mm is good size but I do feel field watches should be in the 36-38 range. In any case I still may pick one of these up at 40. Love the watch, great review. Thanks!
I'm not fussed about the story behind the brand but love the aesthetic of the dial, block lume material cut Arabic numeral and, 6'o'clock second hand feature. I may have this as my second in my collection.
Awesome and informative video Tom! You make me want to get one of these, maybe when they come up with a smaller version. Pleasant surprise on your face reveal in the end too! Must have been nerve wracking, but great to see the face behind bowlofsalmon! 👍🏻

Like what Vertex are doing. May seem a bit pricey at £2,500 but has the top grade movement, extra straps and a high level of construction and finishing. So still feels good value when you compare it to an Explorer at £4k more.
Great review and really like this watch. I love military and pilot watches for their legibility and this tics those boxes. The lume looks fantastic. I own the Mark XX and new Tudor Ranger and wish they had this lume. This is on my list to pick up for sure.

Thanks buddy. Well if a field watch is on top of the list. I had it on the wrist for 3 weeks. Went on a camping trip with it and its a very enjoyable piece
It looks so much smaller then the diameter and lug to lug indicate on your (still) 16.5cm wrist. Looking for something which can take a heavy beating (and which isn't a diver) but preferably a bit smaller (36/37/38) so it doesnt outsize my Pelagos 39. @@BowlOfSalmon Well, at least it will cost me a lot less than the Glashutte Original that also made it onto my list after your last videos (albeit much lower priority and more long term)
Gorgeous, but too large (especially the lug to lug - I appreciate you going through the effort to actually measure and mention that, because like a lot of more renowned brands they don't mention it on their website) Thanks for the review Best regards
You’ve done it now. What a great video. I was smitten with this before seeing the video, and now it’s made my mind up. Going to get one very soon!!! Thank you for sharing and the big reveal at the end 🎉🎉😂😂🎉🎉 @realwatchbrothers
I was fortunate to pick up one of these on the secondary market for a fair price and I have to say it's VERY good. I thnk the selection of straps you've got there is excellent. The straps that came with mine are OK, but I would have loved to get a rubber strap. The bracelet? Hmmm? Feels wrong for this watch to me. Indeed, my only complaint would be the price. At full retail, I don't think I would have made the stretch required to get one. Additionally to that while I appreciate the value of a limited edition, maybe they've painted themselves into a corner by limiting production to such a low number of units? Double the number unuts, lower the price 15%, and they'd still sell out, while padding the bottom line. As it stands, their options for brand growth are more limited. 😢
Thx for the elaborate comment/feedback. Producing high high quantity to get prices down requires investing too. I don’t think that is possible for a lot of brands at this level
@Bowl Of Salmon I spent 35 years calculating manufacturing costs. The majority of the cost is in development/startup. Once you produce the first piece/unit, the cost falls sharply for each additional unit. Eventually, the startup cost is spread out so much that it's negligible. I could get into the weeds with it, but suffice to say the limited edition route is a sword that cuts both ways.
The watch is awesome. However I don't know how I feel about the bracelet. I think the metal bracelet steals the spotlight away from the watch dial. If I really want a metal bracelet, I will go for after-market straight-end bracelet.
BEAUTIFUL watch. I loved the 3D lumed numerals but, 2700€ including the bracelet is too damn much. Especially for me since i current own a Khaki Auto 38.
I enjoyed your review tons, but I disagree my Glashutte, Rolex, JLC, Girard Perregaux, GS, A Lange Sohne etc all have zero feedback or resistance when winding, in fact cheaper movements like the one here Sellita SW260-1 feedback and resistance is due to the type of hairspring and smaller coil which is why its only 38 hours of power reserve, this watch should have the new Sellita movements with the larger and powerful mainspring barrels like Sinn are using on there pieces. If you wound a Patek it's silky smooth with zero resistance or rather resistance kicks in around 15 turns or so. I can make 20 turns on my Grand Seiko Ryusendo manual watch. after quit a few years resistance is an indication of possible service as wear and tear/drying of oil and such has taken its toll.
3000€ for a field watch? No way. Way too expensive for a tool-watch. I bet the military would not issue these to their soldiers today. Yes quality and craftsmenship ... I can dial up quality so high, it will get too expensive and bring only little to no benefit.
No. its not a bang for the buck. Its a nice but expensive watch. I can easily buy a nice watch for under 1000$, like a Hamilton. Get the look and the quality and pocket the other 2k. Lets be honest here, the movement inside won't be anything special. Swiss made, sure but it will be used in other watches as well. Is it a in house build movement? Being a millionare, you can wear a 3k time-piece daily but I bet most viewers here aren't. At this price, its luxury and a field watch is not luxury. I'd say Vertex itself is in a weird position. Their watches come at a price starting at 3k but yet the brand is kinda unknown. Sure there is a heritage and watch enthusiasts know the name maybe but I bet: If you walk down the street and show people the Vertex. They will call you a mad man when you tell them the price.
@@BowlOfSalmon this is the reason i eventually sold the black bay pro as the colour of the lume just annoyed me eventually. It’s a shame it’s not just white
@@BowlOfSalmon I don't know everything now, it's a beautiful watch, but it should be 36 like the watches during WW2. I might not be correct there either, but they were around 36 or smaller
@@BowlOfSalmon There were wrists of all sizes during WWl, WWll, Korean war and Vietnam. Fashion trends are just that, trends and a true field watch should be reasonably accurate on the basic structure.

The first rule of fight club is….
Bring your soap ?
@@BowlOfSalmon you remind me of Edward Norton.
@wheelsandwatches I’m sure Tom was hoping for Brad Pitt.
You say there’s no faux patina but the numerals are seemingly pre aged off white no?
They are solid lume blocks that are yellowish (fluo like ) but they don’t pretend to be faux patina imho.
@@BowlOfSalmon this is the reason i eventually sold the black bay pro as the colour of the lume just annoyed me eventually. It’s a shame it’s not just white
price point/different models?
I failed you
Why isn’t this smaller than 40mm?
Soon
I'm so affraid of making you angry right now, please don't turn into Hulk
😂
you look like edward norton
😅 funny enough you are not the first one to say that here
Awesome watch, but too big!!!!!! It would be perfect in 36 or 37mm tops... It will preserv the history of dirty dozen...
hang in there ;)
Buy an original there's plenty for sale
50mm diameter? What a pity, a model like that should have a 36mm case.
some people have better wristsizes than us too
@BowlOfSalmon It's not a matter of better or worst wrist size, it's about the style of a military watch
@@heisenberg470 I know buddy, I was being silly
Way too big for me, would prefer 36mm
Don knows
@@BowlOfSalmon I don't know everything now, it's a beautiful watch, but it should be 36 like the watches during WW2. I might not be correct there either, but they were around 36 or smaller
It's a beautiful piece, but too big for me.
Smaller version is available soon
@@BowlOfSalmon Excellent, or not for my bank account! Thanks.
Nice watch but at $3,550 Canadian it's about $2,000 overpriced for what you get.
handled these yet ? quality & build way above most other brands at the price you mentioned
At 40mm, this isn't a field piece. Facsimile at best. Pass.
Wrists in all sizes.
@@BowlOfSalmon There were wrists of all sizes during WWl, WWll, Korean war and Vietnam. Fashion trends are just that, trends and a true field watch should be reasonably accurate on the basic structure.
Two and a half grand for a sellita powered watch…?
don't judge it because of that
@@BowlOfSalmon Because..?
Too expensive. Id rather get a hamilton or even a Praesidus A-11 Spec 2 or G shock
Not here to influence anyone. Enjoy whatever you choose to wear
