Elvin was referred to as a witch doctor. His skill wasn't just speed like metal drumming gods now. It was his dynamic articulation and the ability to extract a wide range of sounds from all cymbals and drums.
It was a revolution like rock. It broke away from the old rigidly controlled bigband and went more Bop and free style. More grooves and freedom for creativity. I go back to listening to 40's and 50's bigband and it seems totally formula and constrained.
Three undisputed masters at work, there's no mistaking who the leader is, highest level of interplay, jazz simply cannot be played at this level nowadays, excellent colorizing to boot what's not to like? Thanks for this wonderful upload.
HI I didn't count them. I don't have time for that. And I think It's better for you to make your own list with your favorites and in the order you want. @@AMEER-114-
@@ebjazz93 Can I offer a short list of Jimmy Smith.... Great music, thanks. Too bad about the awful, obviously fake colorizing that wrecks the natural balances of the old but perfectly adequate black-and-white images. "Oooh, let's paste some awful brown on one face, and some hideous reddish glop on another face, and some obviously non-woody-brown on the bass, so everything looks disgusting, and even worse because the colorization algorithm constantly shifts, adding or warping bits of green or red or orange or other nauseating colors. Why on earth do you wreck these with this gross amateurish crude colorization?
Wish these weren't all fake-colorized. It's always ugly and obvious, and destroys the true relationship between contrast levels in black and white. The dishonest colors don't add anything, and wreck what's already good.

For my taste, the 60s were the best decade for Jazz.

I heard a story about Elvin nailed the bass drum to the floor at a nightclub in Hollywood. Club owner was blown away lol

Wow, incredible performance, incredible trio. What an incredible bass solo. Totally grateful. Thanks for this video.

Colorizing always looks awful.
I agree with you.
Technically awful, but it has a kind of artistic vibe. I kinda like it.
Was just about to say it adds a vibe to it.
