Absolute masterpiece musicians.
Joe Farrell - absolutely underrated tenorist und flutist. I love him!
The most underrated group until I heard this.
The smiles of Jimmy and Elvin speak volumes.
Fabulous! Elvin was the man.
Farrell had slipped past my radar for a long time. The complex ferocity of Coltrane meets the introspective touch of Joe Henderson. Thanks for posting this! Amazing performances!!!
Joe Farrell was fantastic, check out a record called Jacky Byard live at Lenny's on the Turnpike and a Pat Martino record called "Strings" he plays his butt off on both of those records.
Joe Farrell, Outback on CTI a masterpiece
Moon germs i think is the name ..wonderful album
Narrative Farrell, mumbling Garrison, lastly Jones rolling, pattering and jogging, excellent trio!
Love the moment Joe casually fixes Elvin's collapsing cymbal stand.
thank you mr jones, mr garrison, and mr farrell, deep and timeless!!!
still love his energy!!
Thanks for posting! A wonderful listening and visual experience!!
Powerful & amazing. I’m stunned. Speechless.
Talk about authenticity and playing with intent! ❤
I have the trio recordings of this group. NEVER thought I'd see them perform. Thanks for posting!
What a drummer! (They're all fantastic), but visceral playing... and the sound! 😲
Joe Farrell was so underrated, he was better than most tenor players today.
Yes. Joe was very Dope! His albums on CTI are crucial for 1970-5. He also played with Chick Cores and Flora Purim.
Beautiful 👌👌👌👌
Mon Dieu quels musiciens formidables ! O LOVE IT !
The flow of Elvin & Mr. Garrision is historic & no wonder I have so many Joe Farrell recordings!
Jimmy literally running to get to the bass. Hilarious! Great freaking recording!! Damn hi hat clutch. Tremendous solo by Elvin. Trio sounds great.
Superb. Jazz at its best!!
What the fuck this is amazing
I knew Joe Farrell 's son. He was the downtown mailman in St. Augustine FL. He was a nice down to earth guy. He never acted like his father was a famous jazz player. I tried picking his brain but he kept to himself. I guess he didn't have his Dad's talent and he went for security. Last time I tried to find him I heard he had retired. Great video.
Soooo freakin epic❤ what a trio! This is a special one!!
Wow thanks for putting this on the Tube! This trio did two studio albums together that sound great.
Names of those records please? Thank you.
Puttin it together and The Ultimate@@rhythmfield
love joe farrell
😊 excellent sound recording. Evidence that Elvin was the best ever.
Yes great video. I saw Elvis and Jimmy at Shelley’s Man Hole. Unfortunately. Joe wasn’t there with them
Супер!
Again a treasure is uploaded that says everything about the groove these three men presented to an audience..I was Blessed to see 2 performances of this Trio, and hopefully more Videos will be uploaded soon as this level of commitment should be contemplated when a discussion of Mr.Jones begins.. Thank you again !!
Wow, lucky you! Do you have any idea who else played in this concert? I notice there are three other drum kits on the stage so I assume other groups performed.
Wow!
Jimmy Garrison's chin-based jam face has always been a favorite of mine. Some great shots of it here. Thank you.
Oy! So So cool!
wow
I love ! great drummer !
Up yo sky solo, Mr. Farrell.
OMG... incredible!!!
more of this
And in a suit and tie.
At concerts back then they always dressed really well
(Dexter was always open collar, with a nice suit.)
This is solid. Fantastic upload, thanks
FANTASTIC
As roots as it gets.
those drums sound HUGE
Totally brilliant.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Classic!!
Monster.......❤
and you wonder why all of those old stamp Zildjian K cymbals are keyholed. They got hit by some real pros. Elvin could sure make them sing
Wonder why Elvin switched drum kits for his solo??
So this is who replaced John essentially. Fascinating. I've never even heard of this guy. Imagine being great enough to get the gig but languish in obscurity 😮
Joe Farrell?? He kills
Joe Farrell did not exactly languish in obscurity but was indeed always a bit underated. He played with the best in the 60’s and 70’s as a leader and as a sideman. Check the album Moon Germs in 1972 with Hancock, Clarke and DeJohnette, or Chick Corey’s Leprechaun, Mad Hatter and Friends!
I learned of the mighty Joe Farrell in 1969 when I got the "Puttin It Together" album given to new subscribers to Down Beat magazine. The musical beauty of that album kept me in touch with the deeper levels of life, to say the least. You should listen to it. Then try "The Ultimate". Its from the same sessions, just released a little later.
@@stephangagnon3121 Great recap of Joe's career. He died way too young. If alive now, he'd be one of the leading tenor elder statesmen. I vaguely recall seeing Joe once in a flute summit with Hubert Laws, Sam Most and I think Jim Walker from Free Flight in the very early 80's
Elvin and heroin, sad.Amazing power though. Is that Max Roaches’ Hollywood kit behind him ? Must have been quite a night.
Joe Farrell was not of this world--he died to soon--was amazing with Chick Corea. Died WAY to young---
J entend pas la basse
Where’s the 1 ?
Right before “2” … loosely speaking ….
@rhythmfield, given that you’ve got the entire field covered, I’ll trust that.
Trane had just died. Elvin chose Joe Farrell.
Jones: slave to the music, sweating like a rower on a galley.
"Нет,брат,ты не Колтрейн"-подумали с улыбкой Элвин и Джимми...
Майка помнишь?
You lost me with your frivolous intro
This proves that racism has been inculcated.
What does?
Look how disrespectful jones and garrison act while Joe Farrell is playing. They seem to be drunk, and are horsing around when instead they should be listening to their colleague. That shows their condescending attitude toward Farrrell.
F off...they loved joe
I don't think so.
