This is a reminder of why I started following you in the first place. Alex, thank you for using your Platform to do good for the sake of doing good. Military recruitment tactics are already predatory enough but adding Influencers and Fortnite into the mix is beyond unacceptable. Any Influencer who took this deal took money that's dripping with blood and they ought to be ashamed of themselves. Not all money is good money.

Well said! I know, (VERY first-hand), how America use COD as a major recruitment tactic. Just not through "Influencers" per se, untill now. Recruitment Officers, *(whom you should NEVER TRUST),* and the American Army use Call Of Duty to its fullest and in the most twisted and perverted ways possible.
COD has been keeping soldiers brainwashed while waiting on the ground, plus raising our future Soldiers, all through the Military's deceits. It brainwashes and makes people deluded into believing that the so-called "Occupation"/"Operation" is actually like in the game, when it very obviously isn't. I have heard those words on 2 separate occasions from Recruitment Officers.
COD has done more for the recruitment of the Military than all of the Army's other Propaganda combined, (with the exception of "Military Families", which runs deeper and is even more fucked up). It only takes a tiny nudge to get them from dying in a game to dying in the sand, in a desert, thousands of miles away from home, alone, in a country that is not their own and is hostile.
I am NOT blaming COD for any of this. Well..., unless they were or still are in kahoots with them all along. That's another story. It's brazingly being done openly, publicly and with zero shame, except now in Fortnite. 🤬🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮

The number of people who leave the army with disabling PTSD. My friends that are in that situation all say that the death of your friends, civilians and children is much more traumatic than the fear for themselves.
I think of my enlisted friends that developed mental health problems from the work environment alone 😢

It killed my dad, he was dead at 51 from untreated PTSD 😢 so sending support.
They did a study on "PTSD" in the military and it turns out that the majority are being misdiagnosed with PTSD when it's actually brain trauma from all the blasts. Craziness. Learned this the other day on the Philip DeFranco blokes channel. Just thought I'd share it because it's worth knowing I think

As someone who was influenced into joining the US Army at age 17 and now has to deal with crippling PTSD from SA and seeing friends die, I hope parents have conversations with their children about this and explain it’s nothing like a video game.

And a lot of the students are incentivized to join because of the access to free college through being in the military. That's the whole reason my high school boyfriend wanted to join when the recruiters came to our schools junior year

It’s because Army Jobs deleted their tweet so it’s not really publicized apart from this yt video and those who saw the tweet. Still tho, it’s honestly disgraceful from these UA-camrs… some did research and support it which fairs it’s their own opinion whether or not it’s invalid or not, and others (filly) contradict themselves and being so narcissistic. I remember in yt videos he’s like “I’m so unselfish” and then continues to roast others for not being as good as him in the same exact video it’s crazy. This is classic recruiting tactics tbh, just changed to modern media. In the same way they manipulated people to join for free schooling, shelter and food. Now they are appealing to the same demographic for the new age, so immoral.
If people aren't signing up for the military, maybe that should tell them something about the perception of the institution.
God I wish people cared more about where their money comes from, especially when they have the option to choose who they are hired by with probably hundreds of options

genuinely sick. it’s always been sick the army recruitment of teens in US high schools, especially the increase of it in lower income areas where that’s then their only chance to afford college, but to go as far to utilize kids video games and creators and influencers is insaaaaane. there are no bounds. disappointed in these guys too especially talia they should have known better. :(
i dont think people join the army in the uk to afford 'college' (which is free in the uk, but university isnt). i think its just a job that disadvantaged people take because they dont really have many other choices. i was one of them because i didnt finish high school (for mental health reasons) and have no qualifications, i was interested in the royal navy until i realised i couldnt join anyways because of my autism diagnosis.

As someone that was somewhat "honey trapped" by the military at a careers fair when they had Call of Duty set up, at the age of 15, I can tell you that these things do have an influence and I ended up signing up the very next day. Yes, it was Call of Duty and not Fortnite but as someone who's fallen for this tactic, they do work.
The person who tweeted that "We need an army. We have a recruitment issue" etc. etc. needs to realize that an army of f**king CHILDREN isn't exactly a great idea!

I dunno if anyone will see this but i recently worked at a recruitment agency here in the UK & the gov asked this company to do research into how they could get children AT PRIMARY SCHOOL interested in a career in nuclear submarines... As in the subs that have world-ending nukes on them just in case anyone wants to attack us.
They asked me to interview school children as young as 8 about this.
its sad. our military numbers are already way too low and especially because of what is happening in our continent right now, theyre going to do whatever they can to get as many people to join as possible, which is going to include some really morally fucked up things.

Why are we acting like they are recruiting into something awful nobody should join, this is the british forces, a very respected job. It's not to be taken lightly no, but that will be understood through the recruitment process. It's not like they are going to be tricked by seeing an influencer and the next day be in a real life battlefield. They'll find out if it's really for them in the process of joining if they are appropriate.

I feel that the morality in comparing the military to a game is the thing that should be in question, not the promoting of the army to kids. Are we just forgetting army cadets is a thing, aimed at people between the ages of 12-18. As an expectation of society, we gear our academics in favour of the careers and many see a future in, like the army or the navy. Like one would to be a doctor or in the police force. Plus the army is more than just guns and killing. Do we forget that they are a key relief in national crisis’. They help evacuation that are forced for safety - floods. They also aid in building emergency shelter and bridges. There is no shame in a young person wanting to choose a career in the army even if some of their resources are misguided. But for them to see that this is a career option they have to see it somewhere. So yeah it was a poor attempt at advertising a future, but not because they were targeting the wrong demographic, but because the tools used are inaccurate and misleading creating ignorance.
