Absolutely it’s so tragic what happened to her as a kid, especially now she’s clearly a product of her environment. But hurt people hurt people, it’s a vicious cycle like you say but it doesnt excuse her actions. Would be interested to look at the Mum’s history and see if she had history of being forced into beauty contests as a kid (which as a concept is also dodgy af)

I feel like there are media influencers who are legitimately nice people but the difference is they don’t make it their entire brand image because they see being a good person as just a normal thing, not something special to focus on. She's still not an adult. She still doesn't have a fully formed brain.
In order to believe any of this was wrong she had to believe that she was abused, that her mom was abusive, that every other authority figure she ever interacted with was abusive, that every celebrity she ever worked with was abusive, that every director, producer, instructor, Doctor, nurse, therapist, family friend and more were ALL abusive. There's an episode of Dance Moms where Abby is so cruel to Jojo (a child) that JoJo starts having a panic attack and telling her mom that she doesn't want to be there anymore and she doesn't ever want to come back. ( But would shut up the minute Maddie walked in). She was rude to all the other mothers, and the mother - whatserface- would laugh whenever JoJo did these things.

@@abcdefghljkimno Maddie missed enough school that she had to drop out and be home-schooled instead and so Kenzie started home-schooling at the same time.
So yes because of that Maddie could do her schooling in the morning and then have a private that was really her starting to learn her routine. It never seemed to be a thing for Kenzie though (either that or production couldn't work out how to make a storyline for it)
Yes Abby was saying that dance should come first especially the couple of times that the girls had something outside of normal school hours. I don't know how much she actually believed that in general and how much was that for the show and how tight the turnaround was that the extra hours that they would have by not having to account for their normal schooling would make life easier.
She also said contradictory things like telling off the mothers that they were there all the time and living off of their husbands (when most of them did have jobs before the show started and had to give them up) while at the same time telling Nia that mother didn't love her because she wasn't there (during the early seasons when Holly was still a school principal)
My understanding from things Christi has said is that the girls when they were still in regular school would miss Fridays because that was the travel day to wherever the competition was.
That was one of the requirements for season 8, that they already did online school (pretty sure it was for the minis too seeing as they started after everyone was in LA and had changed to online school)

Yet she then created her own worse version of the very thing that supposedly traumatised her. This is made worse by the fact she is an anti-bullying body positivity ambassador/activist who speaks out about discrimination and bullying regularly. Money and fame has corrupted her and now she doesn’t give a shit about anything other than fame and money. But using and abusing kids to try and get more fame is wrong.
This wasn’t just a UA-cam series/thing it was a full blown tv show was on peacock in America they also went on AGT (also owned by Peacock) so they should have protected those children! The labour laws and child protection for kids on tv have changed since dance moms was made so surely laws must have been broken?! As for the Siwas comments about children especially mocking a speech impediment when JOJO was openly bullied on dance moms about this and was consequently traumatised?! For Leigha she chose not to take up the option for the 3rd year, don't know what happened with the others that aren't in the group, Kiya was approx 9 months before Leigha. Not long after Leigha was fired Kinley and Bella left.
We only know the stuff now because Anjie didn't sign the NDA and by doing so Jess now has right to a percentage of any music that Leigha releases forever (the others that left a clause of the NDA was that Jess gave up the right to that money).

Oh JoJo’s mom 100% tried to be another Abby Lee Miller that’s for sure
Especially after that comment that she made fun of a kid for low muscle tone then mocked their speech?? Her mom has always been a piece of work pumping her daughter out for fame any way she could

    Three of you were amazing.
Enjoy your content and obviously it’s up to you what you put out.

In my experience, anyones who’s been sooo nice, has been just as mean. Everything & everyone has to be balanced in some way, even if it’s both extremes.

Dance Mom's was THE most horrifically toxic show. The network and the parents both to blame. If any of these girls made it out with their mental and emotional health intact, it was a miracle.
