I wish the lyrics weren't what they are, because this could have endured a whole lot better otherwise. Possibly their best 80's song along with Thunder and Lightning.
Lol, I remember this 1984 song/video from Chicago, while dealing with efforts of mending a broken heart, and at the time, everything that occurred in this video, was something I felt I should do to win her back. My how time has wised me up, a classic 80's Pop song, from one of the finest bands to ever walk the earth...
I'm a fan of metal but Chicago is one of the biggest groups in rock music. Its first period with Terry as leader, then with Cetera in the eighties with powerful ballads and Danny Seraphine on drums, one of the best in the history of music.
Not seen it since the 80's, Didn't you record any videos on VHS/Betamax, Or watch documentaries etc Also youtube has been around for a very long 15 years etc-Very confused
I'm a bigger fan of Chicago's early 70s stuff, but the band made some tremendous songs in the 1980s as well. This song is probably their best of that particular decade. Feelin' Stronger Every Day is their all-time achievement, though.
As a kid I remember this playing constantly on MTV. Now I can recall why-WOW! What a fantastic mini-80s film this video was! (Complete with obligatory cars jumping off ramps + explosions).
Walt Parazaider just released a statement confirming that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Many prayers and blessings of strength to the Parazaider Family during this sad and trying time.
Walt Parazaider is such a gifted woodwinds player. Definitely had talent just like the rest of the band. His flute/clarinet solos at their concerts were always epic. I wish him good health and I hope he will get better.

Does Danny Seraphins was still in the lineup by this time or not.

When I was 3 years old, my father showed me this video.
I remember the feeling I watched this video, and I can't get it out of my mind. I love this song and video.
Chicago Band
Chicago 17 1984
There's more real stunts in this video than in a modern action movie. It's all CGI and studio tricks now.
no shit ....some gnarly stunts
He even sings the echoes in the bridge.. “next to your body. Body body”
Apparently the truck actually hits the stunt man
Peter did his own stunts
0:30 Peter Cetera was checking under the hood and making sure the headlights work. And I'm not talking about the Olds 442!
Nothing like 80's music to bring the good old days. The music, big hair and just plain out right fun.
Bro, this video is hilarious af😂😂
Never gets old , what a babe
One of the first really high budget videos. Remember being blown away at this production. Ushered in my senior year of high school.
Love it...That chick shows the best class and style of the era...
Omg that was freaking epic! So glad I was a teen in the 80's.
Chicago 17 1984

M.R. C has a really cool & unique voice.. You know its him when he sings.
He’s relentless.. I smell a restraining order in his future ... “I won’t take no if that’s your answer....”
And he’s also been told by his friends this affair wasn’t meant to be. 😂
I wish the lyrics weren't what they are, because this could have endured a whole lot better otherwise. Possibly their best 80's song along with Thunder and Lightning.
Is this the same girl he tells, "I can't go on if I'm on my own" ?
Lol, I remember this 1984 song/video from Chicago, while dealing with efforts of mending a broken heart, and at the time, everything that occurred in this video, was something I felt I should do to win her back. My how time has wised me up, a classic 80's Pop song, from one of the finest bands to ever walk the earth...
Man what an amazing production this era continues to echo in time, incredible.
I'm a fan of metal but Chicago is one of the biggest groups in rock music. Its first period with Terry as leader, then with Cetera in the eighties with powerful ballads and Danny Seraphine on drums, one of the best in the history of music.
great song
I forgot how hilarious this video was. Haven’t seen it since the day it first aired in the 80s!
Not seen it since the 80's, Didn't you record any videos on VHS/Betamax, Or watch documentaries etc
Also youtube has been around for a very long 15 years etc-Very confused
I'm a bigger fan of Chicago's early 70s stuff, but the band made some tremendous songs in the 1980s as well. This song is probably their best of that particular decade. Feelin' Stronger Every Day is their all-time achievement, though.
I miss this era of MTV and pop music. 😢
My mistake Terry Kath died in 78. It was another guitar player on this song. Chris Pinnick. Terry still did some awesome playing with the Band. RIP
As a kid I remember this playing constantly on MTV. Now I can recall why-WOW! What a fantastic mini-80s film this video was! (Complete with obligatory cars jumping off ramps + explosions).
Grew up on 80s videos as a kid thanks to my dad. Too young to understand what "stay the night" meant, but knew this was a fun video with a mini story.
Walt Parazaider just released a statement confirming that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Many prayers and blessings of strength to the Parazaider Family during this sad and trying time.
God bless
WHAT?! Oh no......May a cure be found soon🙏🙏
Prayers for him and family
They're all getting up there.
Walt Parazaider is such a gifted woodwinds player. Definitely had talent just like the rest of the band. His flute/clarinet solos at their concerts were always epic. I wish him good health and I hope he will get better.
1984. The most incredible year for music videos EVER!
Summer of '84! So many great songs and videos came out in '84, this was one of them. I was 13 at the time and absolutely loved MTV.
I love Chicago!! Pete can sing to me anyday!! Yaaassss!!! 💘 🎹 💘 🎶 💘
Hello Joanne, How are you doing?
Jeff Porcaro played drums on this song, per Wikipedia.
That Olds 442 is the star of the show!
The car was awesome and she was hot! Could make one hell of a weekend in 1984.
Lol she could your MOM by now
Whos the girl in the car? Is that Katy Segal? Truly curious.
@@JamieLeeKnoxville Her name is Ingrid Anderson.
Have a nice day
@@homelesshannah50 Nah, I was 14 then, she would have been my older sister.
my Father had a Olds 442, Fastest muscle car in the valley, till he met up with a Corvette. Wish I had that ride now. RIP Pops, too bad you never got to know me as an adult.
"Stay the night!"There room here for 2."
"Stay the night!" "I'd like to spend it with you."
"Stay the night!" Why don't we call it a day." "Nothing can stop us cause nothing is in our way." Peter said what was on his mind! Real Talk! 💯✔
1984
0:41 - 1:03 That opening motif sequence that repeats is one of the most basic chord progressions in 80's music. It goes to show how simplicity is sometimes the best.
Agreed 100%!

I don't want you to misunderstand me
I just want to say what's on my mind
No need to hit me with an attitude
Because I haven't got the time
I want you to know one thing is certain
I truly love your company
I won't take no if that's you answer
At least, that's my philosophy
Stay the night, there's room enough here for two
Stay the night, I'd like to spend it with you
Stay the night, why don't we call it a day
No on can stop us, and nothing is in the way
It comes from friendly conversation
And if you still don't have a clue
Unless there's something else you've got in mind
We've got better things to do
Stay the night, there's room enough here for two
Stay the night, I'd like to spend it with you
Stay the night, Why don't we call it a day
No one can stop us, and nothing is in the way
Here by my side
(Just to have you near me) And when I get next to your body
(Just to have you near me) Oh
One thing I can tell you, we're gonna be fine
We're gonna have a very good time!
Stay the night, there's room enough here for two
Stay the night, I'd like to spend it with you
Stay the night, Why don't we call it a day
No one can stop us, and nothing is in the way
Woooooh, woooooh, woooooh
No one can stop us, and nothing is in the way
What do you want to say?
Stay the night
Stay the night
My favorite Chicago song
You snuck this one in. I missed it.. This should be nominated for best video of all time
Agreed
Peter Gabriel did some awesome videos. But definitely, Chicago's best video ever. Along Comes a Woman is another great one from them.
☆LONG LIVE THE 80'S☆
This song makes my day. For ever. Unforgetable.
Gen X overload confirmed 👌 elegant 🎶 music !!!
Love when the cop sings "stay the night"😅😅
James Pankow
Sweet 1968 Olds 442 convertible!
Love how its daytime when the pickup goes over the ramp and it suddenly turns to night 3:47 Guess they thought the explosion would be more spectacular in the dark.... lol
Such a waste of a classic Ford pickup. Looked like a 65 or 66.
Lee Huff Hope they used a prop truck.
@@leehuff2330 it was only 18 years only in 84. Probably the real thing

Could be. There wasn't nearly the interest in classic pickups then like there is now.
