I’m thinking This is the video I’ve waited for… I’m building a 50 year old Blasting Cap box into a CBG. I’ve bought a rod piezo for it but have been hesitating on the final build always wondering if there wasn’t an alternative pickup. I’d heard of the Lucky 13 but hadn’t seen a video that was close to my build. The thickness of the top on your build is the same as mine! Now I’ve a sound clip of how powerful the pickup is for an application similar to mine. Very nice build Sir! My build is quite a bit more rustic as the box is very old, but I’m hoping for fantastic results. Thanks so much for all your helpful videos, love the entertainment value too. 😉
That guitar is awesome.... You do amazing work. ... I have a question... I have Jack Daniels metal tin box about the same size that I've been wanting to make a guitar from. With it being metal would putting a pickup inside the box like you did work or would it being metal interfear with the strings being picked up? I'm afraid to cut the box in any way until I know for sure what I can or cannot do. Thanks
Thanks Geoff, I think that pickup would work in a tin box, it may amplify the whole top though. You may try adding a thin piece of ply wood under the top, so the pickup magnet isn't in direct contact with the lid. Here's a video of a Jack Daniels tin I built, it may give you some ideas. ua-cam.com/video/L8AWrTe0h3Q/v-deo.html
From one builder to another, you rock my dude. With that tasty jam in E you played, I wish I had been there to back you up with one of my harmonicas….woulda been epic 🎼🎸
Hi Michael, what a very nice guitar you build again is there a schedule of the wiring you used ? I"m not sure I'm doing it the wright way greetings Mario from the Netherlands
Hi Michael, at first I have to make sure that you don't get me wrong. This build is, in my opinion, another masterpiece! Looking very good, brilliant solutions for the technical details, wonderful sound! What more to say?! Nothing, than a question: Why was it not possible to turn the sliding top of the box in the oposite position? Where is the mistake in my thinking?
Thanks Klaus, I thought about the turn the top around thing, but then you still wouldn't be about to install the pickup and slide the top in place because of the pickup wire, AND you would not be able to take the top off unless you removed the strike plate. 😎
@@SouthernFireGuitars Oh yes, the wire 🤦♂️! Thanx for your quick response. I have a smal box from Davidov (with a thiner sliding top). Maybe it will become (one fine day) an Ukulele with a magnetic pick up. We will see. Other thing have more priority at the moment unfortunately. Kind regards from good old Germany to the swamp.

Your fly-by was too shaky when sped up. Couldn’t really see it’s awesomeness. It’s just like My backside 😏. “It sure is Purdy, and I too can squeeze a tune out of it” 😁

Excellent as usual!
Thanks again!
Blood Oath guitar AMAZING
Love that last song you played. Do you have any directions on how to ply it. I am just getting into playing cigar box. Mine is also tuned to open E.
Thank you Zoey, I will be doing a lesson on that tune very soon. M~

Thanks Mario, I used 22 gauge wire.
Hey brother....I love blues...I have built half a dozen guitars....and a couple of them are pretty awsome...but...I'm not a very good player player
Hey Ken That's awesome, building CBG's is a passion and you don't have to be a great player to enjoy playing. 😎

@@klauspenczek4247 That would be cool.
Does the top corner dig into your wrist on the strumming hand?
Looks and sounds cool 🤘🏻
It does a little bit, cause of the wide box.
@@SouthernFireGuitars would it kill the look if you rolled the 3 edges at that corner?
🤔 probably 🤷♂️.
Still, that was a pretty cool build.
@@robraaiii I was trying to keep the look of the box.
@@SouthernFireGuitars Yeah, I think it was the right move. See ya on the next one bud.

I would say it is Swamp - A - Lishus. .
Thanks. Indeed. 😎
Mister dell puckett tells me that if I'm not a good player I can't build a good guitar... can I send you one of my guitars to see what you think?
Hi Ken, I think I could do that. Please email me here guitarandboots@yahoo.com
Very metal sounding guitar name. Bloooooood Oaaaaaaaath
Thanks, I AGREE! 😎
I also agree, trust me metal will reign from this giddy
