- Join us in this informative journey as we delve into the fascinating world of radio wave propagation. This video will explain the various factors that influence how radio waves travel and the role these factors play in technology and everyday life.
We'll break down the science behind radio wave propagation, how different factors such as the atmosphere, terrain, and buildings can impact how radio waves travel. This video is perfect for anyone interested in the intersection of technology and lifestyle, whether you are an experienced tech enthusiast or a beginner in the field of digital and analog electronics.

HEY YOU ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING STUPID:
Yes, I know my hands are large/fat. It's because of a heart condition I suffer from called Congestive Heart Failure. Here's a link to some information about CHF: cle.clinic/2TdS2Ux
One of the symptoms is that it causes fluid retention, mostly in the hands, feet/ankles, and face..

Awsome. Crystal radio is my hobby as an entry level non genius. How it works is something that is fascinating
It’s amazing how far your transmissions can travel.
Paul, you took me right back to '85, listening to The Firm, Radioactive. I was into CB back then. But now you have me wanting to find the old Hallicrafters and see what I can pick up.
I saw them in concert, Reach the Beach tour. probably at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh around that time!
@@learnelectronicsThe Firm or The Fixx? Reach the Beach was The Fixx, with Cy Curnin on vocals. Radioactive was The Firm, with Paul Rodgers on vocals.
Re: The Fixx, they started coming around again at wineries in the latter 20teens, saw them do Reach the Beach in full, 1 table away from the stage. Great show. I think the last time I saw them was 2023 at a much larger venue. Finally got all my family to see them, and they all see and feel the appeal.
The Fixx...got my 80's bands mixed up!
@learnelectronics No problem! With the amount of miles we are all putting behind us, we're bound to have that happen from time to time. 😁
Keep Jammin'!🎸🎸
For sure!
Would be great to see more videos on radio. Nice work thanks.
Working on it!
Well, that makes me want to expand on my dipole antenna. Perhaps this week.
CQ DX.
☮ brother.
Whoa! You’re a genius electronics guy AND a ham too?! Amazing!
KQ4BVT… 73!
I'm hardly a genius. Like the old saying, what do you call the guy who graduates last in his class from medical school? Doctor.
I was good at what I did, power electronics. But all the calculus...
Regarding heart failure: My heart doctor has me on diuretic called bumetanide. My hands and feel no longer swell up as much as before.
You forgot to hit the GO button to refresh after switching to the 20M band, that's why it "looked about the same" 😂
I know, saw it in editing. lol
Still gotta try out digital and wsper.
How about building a 2 meter yagi and tuning it with the micro vna?
My first question would be tx power, second antenna , then I would make a judgement also don't take 1day several days over a month much better take on tx propergation?
How come you don't have a Ham channel?
I prefer JTDX to WSJT-X. 👍
I haven't tried it yet!
I have had my Tech license for the past 10 years (have to renew this year) and not once have I used it. What I really wanted was my General, but someone told me to study for the Tech because that was the "better" one. So I did and I guess it was, but then it changed that the General became the better one. I was gung ho on this I purchased all kinds of "test equipment" like a VNA, TinySA, Scope, etc.. I was looking to learn how to do something (It was one of your "Classic Circuits") that's how I came across your channel a few years back. I do use my RTL-SDR at work for ADBS and I have also tried getting Sat images from NOAA so far I'm 0.0 at that. I just have to get off my lazy arse and build a better antenna than the one that came with the RTL-SDR dongle.
AM right?
FT8 is audio modulated over SSB, which is amplitude based, but not AM
Single Sideband. So kinda AM.
Flat earthers will call you conspiracy theorist :-)
would love to be able to work you and give you a new distance record Paul, ZL4OW here Christchurch New Zealand. but if you get onto dmr, you will find me at brandmieser TG 5303 most of the time
I see New Zealand every morning but they never hear me. I'll be going with a higher antenna this spring....maybe then
