As usual, I learnt. I've been playing with SDR for some time, but not really understanding what was happening. I now think that I can start to use it effectively. Thanks
Cool. Dumb question .. your monologue started off with the story of Les and your introduction to WebSDR and why. However .. how did this tool help diagnose or resolve your perceived concern? How did it help you? ✌️
It proved to me, a brand new ham, that everything was working in an indisputable way. Even though Les said everything was great, and I knew the engineering said things would work, I wanted proof because I hadn't made a contact yet. By hearing my voice coming over the WebSDR from a receiver 500-1000 miles away in real-time cemented it in my brain that everything was working as planned.
I have heard of it but have not logged into it for myself. Not enough hours in a day to play. However, it is a good way to check skip conditions. ☮️ brother.
I would like to point out that website is HTTP NOT HTTPS. Which is Not Secure as it says in your search bar. Meaning anyone can see your traffic to and from that page.
It's a radio receiver. You don't need an account or to log in. I understand your concern over Internet privacy and http sites sketch me out a little as well. However I would to say that in general hams are pretty good folk.
