Hi Andrew. Really nice release, however, the quite considerable issue so overlooked with UV releases is that neck length & hook location. If time has been spent on establishing an ideal draw length & peep location using a Stan or similar, shooting the UV will throw everything out. I have yet to hear a feasible explanation what their reasoning is for this.Just to be different ? It's a damn nuisance !

Hello and thank you for watching.
I agree that the difference in hook position requires the archer to commit to that particular set of releases (UV Button and UV Hinge). That said, I think adjustment of d-loop, peep height, etc, may or may not be required every time you change releases. Some pair more easily with others.
I'll have to look at their promotional material again, but one possible reason I can think of that the UV Hinges (and by extension the UV Button) have their hooks positioned longer and over the middle finger is to force the archer to draw with even finger pressure across the hand (which you have to do anyway to get the right angle to use the hinges). With the hook out farther, we have less leverage to angle the handle, and it forces us to have a more consistent hand position when we come to anchor. If you have had a chance to try a TRU Ball Executive Hinge, and run the head all the way out, you can feel the handle trying to straighten out when you draw. Same principle with the UV Releases.
I would definitely agree, though, that one of their reasons was to be different. The rest is head canon until I do more research.

@@ajbholsters2035 Your explanation is what I heard UV explain in a video. The reason for the head length and angle was to even out the pressure across your fingers and not so much on just the index finger. So it would seem your "head canon" hit the target!

@@MyTechWebTV thank you for letting me know. That's one reason why the Hinge 2.0 and I don't get along and the new TRU Ball Executive and I get along swimmingly. I like to draw with a lot of index and thumb, and angle the ring finger end forward when I draw. With the Hinge 2.0 it takes ages to get it to go off when I set my anchor; if I can get it to go off at all becomes I run out of steam.
The Executive Flex is the opposite due to the aggressive angle of its head. That one can be drawn and configured for heavy index finger draw, or made colder and drawn evenly. it's almost effortless for me to use compared to the UV Hinges.
So that's a bullet point I try to touch on whenever I review a hinge. Does it require a specific way to draw it, or can you set it up to draw it the way you want?
Anyway, thank you for the follow-up, and thanks for watching 👍

I bought one of the initial runs of UV buttons and noticed the travel and tension screws moving. I like to shoot mine with moderate tension and no travel but a little bit of travel kept creeping in over time. I also noticed an annoying creak in the spring as I press on the trigger to fire which I find unacceptable for the most expensive release on the market with advertisement for no travel and smooth action. I warrantied it and got a 2nd one from UV and it had the same problems. In the end I returned the button and decided to wait for improvements to happen (or a UV Button 2) before trying it again since I enjoy the feel of the handle and I shoot a Hinge 2.

I hate when my releases make noise while I'm trying to execute my shot (well, except for when my hinges hit the click 😁). Hopefully they keep working on improving the design.

    • @fango0000
      @fango0000 Рік тому

@@ajbholsters2035 Yeah, I never want to hear creaks of any kind in a release and the only noise/feedback I want to hear is a click from my hinge 😅. While I'm annoyed that the first batch of buttons were sometimes problematic (especially after all the reviews gave glowing reviews like your life will suddenly make sense once you shoot a UV button), I'm glad they are making improvements meaning I can eventually revisit this release. I really really REALLY wish UV would put locking set screws on their adjustment screws though. If I had my own machine shop, I would even consider putting a tapped hole in myself to lock things down.

@@ajbholsters2035 Just out of curiosity, do you notice any internal spring creaking in this newer UV button when you try to actuate the release slowly? I had this release set at medium tension and no travel. I noticed the creak most notably when I press the thumb knob towards the release body (I execute with a thumb motion similar to that of forming a fist as I build back tension pressure.)

@@fango0000 on the newer aluminum Button, I can't hear any at anchor, but if I put it right up to my ear (a position I wouldn't otherwise have it) and listen closely in a quiet room, there is a tiny bit of creaking. So it's there but it's not loud enough on mine to notice when I'm actually loosing arrows.

Thank you, sir. Sooner or later I'm going to take the time to pick apart every release I own. I just shot the footage for a breakdown of the entire Hot Shot Thumb Release line. Hopefully I'll have that edited and put out some time this week.
After that I'm doing a sound test and measuring the noise of my releases, and then on to the 2023 offerings as I get them.

Thank you for watching my video.
I do not think it is ridiculous to demand a higher standard of fit and finish from the company that is selling the most expensive releases ever offered. I should not see bare aluminum anywhere on it that a I might reasonably be able to see.
Also, I can take a sample of accessories from releases from the other companies with which UV is competing directly (so TRU Ball, Stan, B3, Tru Fire, and Scott) and none of them have blemishes on their finishes in places that are not visible when the release is assembled.
They are all less-expensive, and they come with more accessories out of the box, than the UV Button.

This release cost $300+, for that money I expect nothing but flawless, in fitment and function.
I bought the release, its nice.
Then i went on ebay and bought a couple of the Chinese knock-offs, and found them to be identical in function, but less machine marks poking through the finish, i bought two more for $90ea and sold the uv button.
If i like the people of the company or they make a great product, i will pay through the nose to try something new. I like neither with this company, and would rather them actually be innovative or close shop.

Thanks Andrew for your honest review. You have a eye for detail and for the expense that some of these companies want you would be close to almost perfect! Seems like there Quality Control is not there! Your holster you made for my release ( Onex thumb) as a side note is bar none outstanding! Could not be more happy with the product! Thanks again for the review!

As for QC, I would agree that there are little issues that shouldn't exist for a product that holds the title of "Most Expensive Thumb Release". So hopefully enough people speak up and motivate them to correct the little details. They fixed two big ones, so they are, apparently, paying attention.
