I really get what you’re saying Tim. Just a regular guy that loves shooting your bow. I think mostly everyone on the channel can relate to you in that way. Just regular guys and gals that love shootings bows and tinkering. Although I’m sure that most of us would love to be able to be like Dan and be able to take the a month off to hunt elk in multiple states. Literally living the dream!
Chris bee is a legend. I will always watch his vids. But he has a different style I feel like. He likes to do his own thing. He’s a unique UA-camr in the sense that he doesn’t seem to care about doing collabs like that
On the note about draw length, at least for me, who is just starting to get into the hinge/thumb release world coming from a wrist strap, my draw length DOES NOT change switching between the UV and my wrist strap. For someone who might still want to go back to the wrist strap, the longer nose on the UV doesn’t make you lengthen your draw. Just another way to look at it. I do see the pro’s in being able to lengthen it, but I like the possibility of still shooting my wrist strap comfortably.
This is why I like watching Elkshape. The honest review doesn’t seem like you are trying to sell the product at all or justify such a high price point. I’m sure there are a lot of us that shoot those releases in the $200 range that were intrigued but the price being so high, had a lot of questions. Thanks Tim! And good luck in the woods!
I’ve got a few archery specific videos coming down the pipe since I haven’t posted since around last Christmas lol. Depending on how well that goes I’d love to do a video with y’all.
Call me crazy but Stan already invented everything in this release except 2 things. The different style of grooves on the knobs and the bushing instead of metal on metal contact. However, the Stan has a lot more adjustability. I’m not even sure if the bushings are helpful because it’s still pretty darn loud. Is it just me or is Ultraview becoming the apple of archery? Reinvent our customers products but have better marketing
I think my biggest selling point was it is the same shape as the hinge two so I can jump back and forth between the two and not have to worry to much about different anchor points
Like you said, Tim - the $300-$350 cost is a huge hang up for me as well. Coming from a Wise Choice which is $100 less with almost the same feel, if not better, I can't see dropping that $$ on the UV.
What fletch vanes are you running and name of nocks you are using. Awesome vid. Very informative. I’m on the fence about getting the UV button vs wise choice
The price is a little crazy. The Carter Wise Choice was $229 most places. The newer model doesn’t have trigger travel only trigger tension adjustment. It’s smoother and has a more crisp break IMO.
Thanks for the video. My Stan Perfex wont be replaced anytime soon. Cheaper and dare I say better. I like the way it feels in my hand, thinner like you stated. The amount of adjustments on it coming with 4 different thumb barrel extensions and two different sized barrels at $275 is unbeatable.
Tim, Did you notice that your anchor point changed at all? Mine definitely did. It's the only thing really bugging me about this release. The neck is so long that my knuckles are now at my ear where before I can just bearly feel them touching my ear. It bugs the hell out of me lol. Would a quick fix be to shorten my D loop? Thanks.
Your probably holding the Medium U.V button, they were the first ones released I believe. Large comes out later on with a 2 finger and 4 finger attachments / brackets from what I've heard. That's why i waited... Definitely debating running the U.V Button simply because I use the U.V 2.0 at the moment and I can switch back and forth without making and bow and or sight adjustments.
IDK, i got a stan onnex like new for $170 offline and I LOVE than you can rotate the knob. probably my favorite feature. I do like the laser etching on the side of this one though.
Great video Tim"above average"Connor! I legit love this style of reviews from you. As far as the product...as a new archer I will eventually be looking to move from an index to a button. I don't think I will get a UV button any time soon because for that cost. I would hold off...especially when I don't have a clear idea of what to look for and what's comfortable for me.
The UV Button does NOT always come shipped in the "hottest" setting. I played with the settings to get rid of all trigger travel and it is perfect 👌 Definitely the best release I've tried so far
Great review. Started out with a bit of a burn on Chris Bee and the unltraview guys. 🤣 I tried one the other day. The medium is definitely too small for my hand. It does have a good feel to it, but a bit wide in the fingers. It does not stay in the knuckle grooves as easy as the Stan's. The slightly rotated head made absolutely no difference in the shot. Every other function it has is standard on the Stan. The poly bushings in the release made no noticeable improvement to the shot break of feel on the trigger. I agree on the price. It is more than all of the other top releases and comes with less accessories to custom fit it to your needs.
Totally agree Tim. The Funky Knob will change any release into a greater feeling release. Funky knob on my SX3 is awesome and cheaper than $350. Great review and appreciate the insight
Thanks Tim for another solid “average guy who like to shoot his bow” review. I particularly like the way you present products and give the straight skinny on them. As you mentioned, 300 bucks is above my price point as a retired guy. I know engineering is expensive. But the cost for me just, like new bows, has gotten out of control. Why would I want to spend ~1200$ for a bow that doesn’t shoot (rated) as fast as my 2015? Yeah, I would love to have the newest of the latest and greatest, but my $$$ won’t stretch that far. Keep up the vids, you guys are entertaining as well as informative!
I have a 4 fingered carter chocolate addiction that I love but would like this but I have never used a 3 finger. Does it make it harder to draw the bow?
I agree with Tim. The timing of the release is poor for me. Hunting season is beginning. I'm NOT changing. Bow is dialed and tuned and all my equipment is ready to roll. Not swapping sights or releases. After season I'll take a look. I shoot the UV3XL and I shoot the UV grip, but they created the most expensive release ever. The price point is prohibitive for me. It is a small price compared to the money I have in saddle and bow and hunting gear, but I can't imagine it is that much better than a Carter which has years of proven results. Also I know I would need a large so... NOT a fan of the thickness of it either I can see that already.
Tim! Great content as always. You guys are killing it! I would love to see you guys work with carter to make a hunter thumb button with a safety to lock the release to the string! Cheers!
It’s a great release I love mine, I have a few different kinds, index and thumb, but this one is different. And also it’s not supposed to sit in your knuckles it’s wide because it is supposed to fit between your knuckles on the flat part on middle of your finger. To me it’s worth every penny but at the end of the day they all get the job done, get what fits best for you
The rules of English allow for the creation of the word feelability. Given it's root feelable and it's noun suffix -ability it is the qualitative assessment of the tactile nature of something.
I bought the UV Button back in August and have shot it exclusively for the last 5 months. Last weekend I tried a round of 3D with my Carter Wise Choice and realized after shooting the round that I actually prefer it to the Button. Fits my hand better and personally I think it triggers better than the Button. Maybe it’s the loss of draw length, not sure but I am sticking with my Wise Choice. Already got someone who wants to buy the Button so this is one UV product I will pass on.
I was quite excited about this release after watching the initial drop of the video from UV, having just made the decision to switch from an index to a handheld. All the reviews I have seen so far are promising but the price point is very prohibitive. They will retail for around $420 here in Australia which is for the aluminium one I think. For now anyway I’ve gone with the carter evolution 20, might look at a Stan thumb button later down the track as they seem to be a bit more affordable.
I shoot a wrist strap right now, want to try a back tension but dont have the 350 for an ultraview. Will end up buying a used release whatever i settle on. My question is, if one doesnt have the coin to buy three or four releases where do you start so you can figure out whats good for you and your budget when you have no experience with back tension thumb buttons? Thanks love the channel
Let’s get a video going with Kellen from The Bow Rack and his Inside Out Precision page. Maybe throw some MFJJ in there, little “tune-off” / Shoot-off!
@@ElkShape I was wanting to purchase 1, but wanted something a little skinnier. I shoot a Carter wise choice right now and was wanting something not as wide.
I got one ordered simply because it's the only true "matching" release it's the same shape and size as their hinge but where it differs from the nock on line and the stan line is the hook on their thumb opens in the same direction as the hook on their hinge. where all the other brands the hook opens opposite to their hinges. Does it make a difference? I have no idea but I think the less difference there is the more repeatable it'll be.
Nice work Tim. That’s a fair bit of coin to drop on a release, but I’ve spent a sh!t load more on crap I shouldn’t have. I hear that WillsGoneWalkabout bloke is up for a collab.
Maybe try in the future. Right now I will stay with my Carter but I am ever evolving in my shooting and may try in the future. If the price was lower I may but that is keeping were I am at right now.
I get what they are trying to do with it, they cater a lot to the competition target shooter's more so than the hunting community, and the competition target shooter's tend to have deeper pockets. With this they are attempting to blend the two worlds, and with everything I've seen from it they are succeeding... except in the price category. If it comes down in price I'll probably grab one to tinker with.
I love the content you guys put out. However, I think this UV button missed the mark. It seems like a solid release, but I don’t think they did enough to justify a $50 jump over the Stan Onnex( brass). It’s less customizable. I really hope with UV putting out a $350 thumb button doesn’t drive up the price of other thumb buttons in the future.
That’s something I noticed about higher end channels they want people to be on their end of the spectrum or higher tier for them to want to spend their time with you .! so they can gain subscribers from you or Something from you. Me as a person. I always. Want to get to know the person as a channel. And. If they sub that’s cool but building a relationship that’s the most important thing to me. Truly! from what it looks like this is a quality release, but I can't justify spending $350 on a release at this point in my life. I hope they will go on sale in maybe a year or so, so that people can afford them, but I'm not holding my breath.
This thing is basically a knock off of the Stans Perfex for a higher price. I like the ultra view stuff, but these guys are waaaaaaaaay over priced for all their stuff
$350? Whos on crack? I can kill anything I need w/o going crazy. But if you have more money whatever floats your boat. I'm not impressed. Fyi- I Do for sure like quality and support local archery shops,, Not so much Walmart.
I think this release was a miss by ultraview. Mainly just because of the price point. Plenty of options that are just as good at a lower price. Yes, it’s cool that it pairs well with their hinge, but I don’t think it’s as big of a factor as people think. I shoot my nock 2 it and uv hinge just as good as each other.
So I just got my hand on my uv thumb button the aluminum one to be specific and coming from a Stanley xl I can say the feel in hand is a huge W and it’s lighter more texture on the thumb barrel really helps a lot with target panic and it’s 10000% adjustable witch is AMAZING I will agree with what he was saying about the way it’s longer than most releases and my anchor point has changed with for me is good i feel more comfortable with it where it is and I have been shooting tighter groups in the past two days I’ve had it so in my opinion it’s a solid 7/10 release if you have the money to spend on it give it a shot but if not keep shooting what your comfortable with and you’ll be good accuracy over looks is important 🤌🤌🤌

You're not wrong, this is just a money grab from ultraview to their fan boys
Completely agree. I have the Stans Perfex and they basically just knocked it off
One thing they are great at is marketing. The UV3 is cheap Chinese crap. (I know from experience” I’m sure this is no different
They have a lot of blind fan boys. Sure uv has some good products but this release is no competitor to Stan and it is way too overpriced
Great review Tim. Thanks for doing this while Dan and Jake are in the woods. I’m really interested in one but the price is also a hang up

Drop that sucker about $100 and I’m in.
Great releases but not worth the price!
You lost be at 349. Jeez that’s crazy… bye 👋🏼
