My thoughts/Ranking of Lego 10333 - Barad-Dur: The most recent introduction into the Lego's LOTR theme is the long awaited second tower of middle-earth; Set 10333 Barad-Dur (2024). At over 5,400 pieces, this set comes in at a massive foot print (and price, yet slightly cheaper than Rivendell) measuring just about 18 inches at its base and towering just over 32 inches tall. As mentioned, this is a long awaited set for any Lego LOTR's fan and has most likely completed many fans bucket lists (Minas Tirith in the future!??) The set is furnished with an incredible amount of detail both inside and out and the minifigure selection is excellent with new prints for Orks/Uruk-Hai, and for the first time we have the legend himself, Sauron in minifigure form (and he looks absolutely amazing). The only criticism I have towards the set is that on its own it has a tendency to look a little disproportionate (a little on the stubby/chunky side) versus the on-screen adaptation. However, lego is a system and sometimes it is what it is. The last little negative is that while I think lego did a great job at making sure all the details were present on the exterior, it does look a little messy from some angles (but then again I haven't seen it in person at this time). However, when placed next to its twin (so to speak), Barad Dur towers over Orthanc by about 6 inches (+/-) and then it makes Orthanc look a little worse on its proportions. So the proportions situation between the two towers and their movie counter parts is somewhat of a mute point. Overall, this set is an amazing addition to Lego LOTR's lineup. With the amount of pieces, sure size and complexity of the build, and its details inside and out, puts it very high in our list, but just like Sauron's situation, there's only one ring to rule them all, and in the story we all know and love, he wasn't in possession of it, so Barad-Dur comes in at the very respectful number 2 spot (but it is hot on the tails of our number one choice)!
I’m building Rivendell and it deserves the #1 spot, even with Barad-Dur being cheaper I think Rivendell will be the easiest and less costly route to get the entire fellowship for years to come.
One of the themes I missed during my dark ages. It will always haunt me but the cost of trying to get these on the secondary market is astronomical. Great list though.

When this series came out I was only 5 to 6 years old but last Christmas my family gave me the Gandalf arrives set (in my opinion the best set from this series) my mother purchased it from ebay for 60€ still incredible pricey for 83 pieces. Sorry for my bad English🙃 I am from Germany 🙂
A cool add-on set for the Minas Tirith Set could be a section of Pelennor Fields that includes the Witchking of Angmar on his Fell Beast, an injured Theoden, Eowyn in armor, and the Orc Commander, Gothmog Thanks for the ranking. I got some Christmas shopping to do xd
@@brickafide I really liked the mix of System / Technic / Bionicle pieces used in the Lego Vikings Dragons. They had great articulation even for 2006/2007. Something like that with updated pieces would be fantastic for the Fell Beast. Thanks for the reply! Cheers!
@@TheCatWatches ughhh it’s very difficult… I like lego because of the building process, it’s relaxing, fun, etc. so I prefer builds. Yes that is what I said! I check Bricklink and Brickset for exclusives to see if they come in other sets. I haven’t reviewed the Hobbit Sets yet so I was unaware of another gollum in the wild. Yes this would have been the only (previously) way to get Sam, but yes I failed to do 100% research and looking outside the theme itself, technically there is other gollums. Rivendell is not just the best LOTR set, it’s one of the best if not the best LEGO set ever made. Just bought it this month and it’s truly like investing in an art piece. My god it is the most stunning and satisfying set of build.
Dude I thought the balrog brick head was sick. I saw it in store and knew it’d be a sick gift for my friend who’s not like particularly into legos but would enjoy a little build and display
If they make a big 18+ Minas Tirith I hope it'd also include characters from the Battle of the Pelennor Fields that we haven't got yet like Eowyn and the Witch-King; maybe the oliphaunt could be a GWP like the Fell Beast with Barad-dur
You missed the „The Battle of Helm‘s Deep“ board game (50011). Even though it is not a standard playset I feel it should be included, because you also included the buildable sword. I collected the board game series as a child and bought the missing ones a few years ago. I think the LOTR board game is one of the best of the series and contains some extremely cool LOTR microfigures.
I fully understand! When I was making the video and getting towards the end, had everything ranked, about to record and ready to go and then I came across the board game. Then it spiraled into the lego LOTR Dimensions packs and everything else. I eventually had to draw a line somewhere and not include them, but I did have a mini crisis on whether I should. But in the end, I don’t really consider the dimensions stuff as “sets”. However, while the LOTR game did have a number, like a normal Lego set, it was sort of marketed as a game so I thought to leave it out. While the build-a-sword (while pretty exclusive to the in-store event) is what I feel is more in line with regular lego sets versus the intent of the game, which is sort of a cross over product. Also I consult Brickset.com on what they consider sets and the game never showed up in the LOTR theme TLDR: I feel you
We need Minas Tirith, the Prancing Pony, Rohan, Paths of the Dead, Lothlorien, maybe the battle at Amon Hen, Mount Doom, the Forest of Fangorn, and the bridge in Moria where they fought the Balrog pronto. And maybe an honorary Tom Bombadill set, because even though he didn’t appear in the movies he’s a legend Oh yeah, we also need a Minas Morgul set
Should've bought more of these sets in 2012 instead of being in elementary school. In all seriousness about two or so years ago I asked my parents for some of these sets and I've owned three. One I bought much earlier was the Shire Frodo polybag, which for 10 year old me was sufficient. But maybe two years later my parents gifted me the Uruk-hai army, which is possibly the best set they ever made on account of its army build potential and price, and Weathertop, which I also enjoyed because of the minifigures and I also its one of my favorite scenes. When they announced Rivendell I was shocked and pleased because I was at the point in my life where I started making actual money, and I'm so glad they're reviving this series. Now we just wait for a battle pack/affordable set worth buying...
Holy, I got so many of them in my basement. I got for example the Uruk-hai Army Set even twice as a child because i wanted a bigger wall. But now one Uruk cost about 20 Dollers...
Just finished Rivendell. The left over parts - hobbit feet = will be a good addition to my Orthanc tower with Uruks. Uruks love hobbit feet. Uruk - "Oh, they look tasty" btw - that extra dwarf is NOT Gloin according to the official Lego designers. Even I thought it was for a while. ua-cam.com/video/1uiVZIIcGt8/v-deo.html
wish I could get my hands on the older lord of the rings sets, but the prices are insane.. I am really looking forward to the Barad-Dûr which will most likely be my second LotR set after Rivendell (which I should finally finish building, started it months ago *sigh*)..
The pictures do not do the Tower of Orthanc justice, I have had it for years and I still can't get over how beutiful it is. It looks too short in those images but it's not like that at all in person. Honestly the only thing I dislike about the set is that it has an interior, actually that'a innaccurrate, I like the interior, but the set would be even more beutiful if the exterior went all the way around so I could display it at more angles. The tower could even fold out to reveal the interior, though I appreciate LEGO probably would have struggled to do that at the time.
I have a lego rivendell, and the brickheads. Seeing as how lord of the rings is my favorite thing ever I really should have all the sets. Maybe I should start a collection. would definitely buy a 500 dollar minas tirith set.
I would be interested to know where the new Barad Dur release fits into this list. Regardless, I enjoyed the video. Glad Rivendell got the top spot, but would have been very surprised if it hadn't.
I haven’t looked at Barad-Dur too much in detail but my first impressions of it is that it’s massive, comes with a great set of figures, looks to have great interior features, and it’s something that a lot of LOTR fans have been wanting! Now for the cons: I think it is a bit to stubby/chunky looking, and a tad bit messy looking for a premium LEGO set. I feel that Lego could have potentially refined it a bit more. I personally think the Tower or Orthanc is a better, sleeker build that is better representative of the towers dimensions. Otherwise it’s a great set that has a desired place on many fans shelves. It’s a toss up whether I would place it at the number 2 or 3 spot!
@@brickafide thanks for replying 🙂 I can't decide how I feel about the set. It does look great but Rivendell is just so magnificent. So much more colourful, but I appreciate how well they've added colour to Barad Dur given the limitations of the subject matter. They've also added lots of little Easter eggs which would also be challenging with a set like that. I would love to see a huge Hobbiton, though I know they've already gone there with smaller sets.
I only ever got the Shilab attack. I could probably rebuild the spider but that’s it. My goal is to buy all of these in the future. Even tho it’s 3k+ 😂 money is no problem 😅
I have every set from 1-12 except helms deep which I unfortunately missed. I bought them all when they released. I also got a bunch of the hobbit sets, almost all of them. Unfortunately, helms deep is just too expensive now to complete the collection
That’s a crazy collection you have! And while I definitely know the feeling of missing out on the one thing you don’t have, but sometimes it’s about the things you do have! 😮💨
i got helms deep as a kid and i remember my younger sister got mad at me once and started taking it apart! i have all of the remnants in a bin somewhere, probably mixed with hundreds of other sets
I bought almost all the wave one sets (only missed the Gandalf arrives set) and none of the wave 2 sets. I’m the problem, I thought there would be a third wave… sorry. 😭 Day 1 Rivendale buyer though, hope that makes up for my previous folly.
I think in a lego video on the mines of Moria it shows a grey troll. Just search lego mines of Moria and you will see the video they explain when the cave troll is blue. not trying to hate on this btw, just wanted to tell you about it.
Bruh for the shielob attacks there is a Lego gollums cave set for the hobbit Lego line that comes with a gollum, the shielob attacks set is not the only way to get it.
I'd recommend you read the books, as it seems your rankings are based too much off of the appearences of some of the sets in the movies rather than how the actual story unfolds. Regardless of that thanks for this video, it helped me get a better grasp of all the LotR lego sets.

Sadly, Minas Tirith is just tooooo large to replicate in lego form at a commercial level. Even MOC builders struggle with this.
8:48 at least he had a significant role, unlike certain Captain Vaughn
Just wondering why the L:ego Dimensions Lord of the Rings sets weren't included.
This is the content I like. Definitely deserve more subs
I appreciate the support my friend! 🫡
Yeah Minas Tririth would be cool, but you know what would be great? An eye of Sauron set!!
It has been recently rumored! Bahad-dur!
Lego, bring back simpsons, SpongeBob, Scooby-Doo, and lotr/hobbit
wish I could get my hands on the older lord of the rings sets, but the prices are insane.. I am really looking forward to the Barad-Dûr which will most likely be my second LotR set after Rivendell (which I should finally finish building, started it months ago *sigh*)..
For number 7 the helms deep exspansion you could expand the expansion then expand that
Elrond's age 2 figure have a very strange face print, and also it has a short cape when image shows that he supposed to wear a long one
Yep! I do not disagree
13:12 they should add a mountain troll to the Minas tirith future set
For sure!
Like a big fig
In the next video can you please rank every LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sets please?
Maybe I will! 😉
What’s your favorite set of the theme!?
The 2014 version of the turtle lair because it’s so detailed.
I have the orc forge, but im scared to look at it. So much brittle brown.
I would rather prefer to see 18+ helms deep around 500eur price than a Minas Tirith. But after big helms deep I would not mind also Minas Tirith :D
Hey I wouldn’t mind a 18+ HD either!
I kind of dislike the brickheadz but that gollum is kinda cute :)
I have a lego rivendell, and the brickheads. Seeing as how lord of the rings is my favorite thing ever I really should have all the sets. Maybe I should start a collection. would definitely buy a 500 dollar minas tirith set.
I have the Elrond mini figure my mum must of pre purchased the game for my birthday and gave it to me as a gift with the game 😮
They should have included boramier for the rivendale set instead of Frodo
Thats crazy you can only get gollum in one set!
Guys, I think he wants a large 18+ Minas Thirit set
Do you not!?
Proud owner of Orthanc 💪🏻
Now you can get gollum in the barad dûr
Very nice list
Well thank you very much!
We need minis tiriath
This is the first time I have see. These Lego sets.
And how do you feel about them?!
You missed the helms deep board game🤔 (50011)
1:38 should been Frodo and Sam
The pirate of umbar is actually supposed to be Peter Jackson’s character
Really wanted that build a sword😢
I have all the top 10 sets (rivendale unbuilt because of the ucs venator and life lol) but the tower of orthanc will still be my fav lotr sets.
I completely understand your situation haha. But those are some IMPRESSIVE sets my friend, you should be very proud!
I only ever got the Shilab attack. I could probably rebuild the spider but that’s it. My goal is to buy all of these in the future. Even tho it’s 3k+ 😂 money is no problem 😅
I had the council set when I was younger and then gave it away
A modern day tragedy
The Balrog looks a mess because Gandalf just threw him off a mountain.
Lmao you got me there
I have every set from 1-12 except helms deep which I unfortunately missed.
i got helms deep as a kid and i remember my younger sister got mad at me once and started taking it apart! i have all of the remnants in a bin somewhere, probably mixed with hundreds of other sets
i swear i got a gollum in a set with him and bilbo in like 2012
After releasing the video I’ve been told I failed to research that gollum released one more time in a hobbit series set! So that would be the one!
theres just no way only this few lego lotr sets have been released..
12:45 Gloin was released in a hobbit Lego set
Yeahhhh.. I didn’t think to super research the hobbit sets in prep for this video… my bad
You can get the golem figure in the LEGO dimensions set
I bought almost all the wave one sets (only missed the Gandalf arrives set) and none of the wave 2 sets. I’m the problem, I thought there would be a third wave… sorry. 😭
Day 1 Rivendale buyer though, hope that makes up for my previous folly.
Ayyyeee no shame at all my man!
I mean in a video made by lego it dose show off a grey cave troll 7:37
I am not sure what you mean?
I think in a lego video on the mines of Moria it shows a grey troll. Just search lego mines of Moria and you will see the video they explain when the cave troll is blue. not trying to hate on this btw, just wanted to tell you about it.
@@Hulkster1234 no problem, felt no hate, I was just confused haha. I will have to check it out, thanks!
bro the ring set has gollum too
Then there is Barad Dur
I’d love a minis tirith
Gollum is In a hobbit riddles set
They could at least create a couple minas tirith sets like the great gate and the tree of Gondor
You forgot Sauron's Tower from Mordor
Wasn't released when this video was uploaded
I actually own every LEGO LOTR set ever made
That’s an amazing collection you got yourself there! I assume you probably have all the hobbit sets as well!?
No just the LOTR still working on the hobbit
@@ethanwiedle1307 nice! Looking forward to hearing when your collection is complete!
Bruh for the shielob attacks there is a Lego gollums cave set for the hobbit Lego line that comes with a gollum, the shielob attacks set is not the only way to get it.
That was riddles for the ring a hobbit set not lord of the rings atlesast that’s the way I’m taking it
Top 3 are absolutely the top 3. No contest.
I am glad we have found some common ground, my lord
@@brickafide I think my 4th is the Black Gate, but it's more "Black Gate x2" so your ranking is still all good.
@@paulsoldner9500 thanks for the validation 😂
Pretty sure the pirate is Peter Jackson or the dude you showed
Theres a hobbit set that includes golem it was a poly bog
You showed the wrong Pirate of Umbar in your movie clip. It's supposed to be Peter Jackson (the pirate that Legolas shoots)
Dang, so close to perfection
@@brickafide hahaha
I'd recommend you read the books, as it seems your rankings are based too much off of the appearences of some of the sets in the movies rather than how the actual story unfolds. Regardless of that thanks for this video, it helped me get a better grasp of all the LotR lego sets.
Bought the books recently! And thanks for your comment!
I want a brick build elephaunt (mumakill)
YES!
