I love how advanced lego has become over the years. The amount of detail and geometric shapes they can create with lego pieces is amazing and the detail is fabulous. Love this set :D

Probably the best LEGO set I've ever seen. As a huge Lord of the Rings fan that has read the books and watched the movies and a big LEGO fan, this is the most amazing set I could've asked for!

imagine if the floor tiles would just be 1x1-corner pieces that create an awesome pattern and Instead every current Sticker would be a print. Would be sooo much better.
This is the most beutifull lego set I've seen. It's definetly on my wish list. And that's where it will unfortunatly stay. I have neither the space nor the money for something like this, especially since the Titanic set is top priority.
Im definitely going to get this eventually but I have other big sets that will retire first that also have to take priority even tho I like this set better 😆

The Big Tree by the chairs was a cleverly done build , looks good and actually looks like a tree. The build was fun all around and exciting . Couldn’t wait for the next bag. This is an all star set…… one of the best builds I have ever experienced.
I thought $300 would be an obscene price, but I was wrong. It’s even worse than I thought. Shame on LEGO as a company. The sets are way too expensive even for us working adults.
I think it gets a bit too fair of a review: they should have also floored the printed tiles to the next room - which they didn't.... The back of the trees looks atrocious..... the price for these lot of tiles must be rather cheap - it is the same tile after all. Well, still looks great after all. But WAY too expensive.
01:36 Whilst TLG doesn’t given names….I feel these are meant to represent Erestor (the brunette one) and Glorfindel (the blonde). Both elves were present at the council and both look very similar to these minifigures. 12:29 It’s a lot of money for a one off definitely. But that’s the way TLG seems to be going with the 18+/AFOL sets. I think they could’ve broken this down into 3 or 4 separate sets that then join together to form one giant set and split the minifigures up between the sets kinda like the Hogwarts sets in Harry Potter. But I imagine that would’ve made things more expensive as I’d imagine each set individually would’ve totalled more supposing you wanted all the sets to join together.
The opposite is more likely : Glorfindel is blonde ("[...] his hair was of shining gold", also his name means "golden hair"), while Erestor is likely to be a Noldor, who are often brown of hair
I got mine quite a few months ago when I had the money and the drunken impulse! lol! It is so beautiful and wonderous to me (rather than being a huge LOTR fan type thing). It is still in the box just waiting for the perfect time for this Lego experience... I've built a few other kits since I got it. lol!

Like others have said, like how you compare movie scenes side by side to the set for comparison. Other reviews just show the set, which is pretty but comparing to the source helps appreciate it more
I think mini-scale was a mistake, might be in the minority but I wanted a more majestic landmark design on a more impressive scales. I think there a better MOCs out there. Minifigs are the bait here i think :)

Why does every Lego Set leave room to wish it was just a little bit better, then I´d buy it. The Stickers in this Set are a real letdown, as my Stickers at home on Lego pieces usually crumble and look aweful after just a few years. And if I´d invest a whopping 500€ in a Lego set, I dont want it to be "broken" after like 2 years. Thats already so expensive, and it wouldn´t cost Lego that much. They just got sooo greedy recently.
The cinematic shots in this review are so impressive. The zoom ins on the details and inside buildings really make the video so much better. Great Job :)

I'd be devastated if we only got this and the Brickheadz for new Lord of the Rings sets. Hopefully enough people buy this one to give us a chance at more. I'm waiting until a double VIP points weekend, but I think it's worth it for me.
@@nathanwharton2420 look up ‘Lego survey leak’ and try and find pictures, many of them were taken down. I believe a massive Barad-Dur was pictured as well as some other IPs such as a Zelda set, a UCS sail barge for Star Wars, some Harry Potter stuff, marvel X Mansion, and the temple of doom set that’s being talked about a lot rn. It’s hard to find pictures because Lego really cracked down, Reddit took them down from most places, and no big publishing companies used the pictures

hello everyone. I am after some real, thought out and non biased advice. I am 13 years old and could afford this by the end of the year. the question is: should I buy it? I love lord of the rings and Lego, of course. However I also build computers and I am looking to get a new CPU and GPU. I usually spend about £500 a year on Lego so this would take up most of the budget. I also have a smaller bedroom so I don't know if it would take up too much space. I just wish it was a bit smaller and less expensive. will it be underwhelming if I get it after no Lego for a year? I broke my leg last week so have been a bit pampered recently. I was given an airfix kit, lots of sweets, duck, steak and the Lego sets obi wans jedi starfighter and the dark trooper attack. obi wan's fighter is better for the price by the way. Anyway, I could buy it, but should I? I just don't know. it would take away so much, models, PC components, other Lego, clothes, furniture and more. I get about £200 for my birthday and the same for Christmas, plus more scattered throughout the year. I also can do chores for an extra bit of money. it will be a hard decision and I apricciate any help from you. I can sell some Lego too. I have a £45 figure, 2 £18 and a load of other £10 figs. I also have every box so if I sold my used sets they'd be worth a little more, namely Grevious's starfighter and a few sealed battle packs. Gosh, this is getting long, isn't it? Right, I'm sure I've made many spelling mistakes and a plethora of grammatical errors but ignore that, please, and give me your thoughts on this matter. Thanks for reading and helping out.
this is a hard one. and this is the problem with lego right now, those price tags are just a huge middlefinger to everyone who isn't swimming in money. No matter how big a fan you are, if you can't afford it, you can't. And dont anyone tell me about inflation and stuff - it is just a bunch of plastic, and looking at sets like that rollercoaster that was a complete disaster, it isn't even top quality any more. Lego would still be able to pay all their employees and design great stuff if that set would come at 350. But everyone is still paying, and then you have a bunch of youtubers that get it for free and can tell everyone how great it is, cause they are not affected by that price tag. I don't know a solution here, and dunno if there will ever be a discout on that rivendell. But if 500 bucks is you whole budget for a year, meeh. Any chance of, like, getting the whole family to throw together and you throwing in some 100 bucks and making this a christmas present? Worked a few times for me when i was younger. Gosh, this got long. :D Fingers crossed for you, man!
I am currently building this. It's a super enjoyable build. I just have the big middle section left and I'm quickly realizing I have nowhere to place this. I gotta do some quick rearranging
I would never buy this for myself, but gotta consider buying a couple just to store for a couple years will get you a better return than just about any other investment you could make on the stock market today.
Fantastic review as ever Tiago. Brilliant presentation of the greatest official Lego set imo. Kudos to the designers that the main Rivendell building is incredible as a stand alone model but combined with other beautiful builds it is overall astonishing with all those perfectly balanced colours
Just like the set, this video has great attention to details! It's an impressive set, more over for LOTR fans. Having said that, I still find 10305 Lion Knights Castle to be the better $500 set of these two. I'm sure it'll sell well, and I hope well enough to justify more sets for LOTR fans.
I also prefer the Lion Castle (I have it), the castle is very chunky and solid. I also like the more historical accuracy compared to the fantasy of LOTR (LOTR is still great though..). But they aren't in exactly the same class though? I think the Castle is $100 cheaper and has 2000 piecer fewer than the LOTR set?
@@joostdriesens3984 True, but I still consider these two to be more connected (if you remove/change the LOTR figures and MOC a bit, it can just as well be a part of a village/castle layout) than the Lego Titanic set Tiago mentioned/recommended in this video.
I’m half way done with this set, my wife and I have been at it since Sunday. It’s everything I could have asked for as a fan of Tolkien. I really hope people show up for this one. I doubt I’ll ever show up for a Star Wars UCS above $200usd, but LoTR sets? Day one, whatever the price, I’m there.

Bought it on day 1, in the middle east its actually 580 Euros. and I still bought it. Anyone who visits my apartment says the the best Lego set they have ever seen
As for price and value: the thing that immediately jumped out at me is that it’s as many pieces as the UCS Razor Crest, 10 more “real” minifigs plus the 6 statues, a whole new set of weapon molds, some new dual-molded hair elements, and it’s $100 cheaper. Sure, there a bunch of 1x1 tiles in Rivendell, and the Razor Crest had a couple new large-ish pieces. But except for the windscreen print, these were all recolors of existing elements, and I’m thinking the expense of a new color (so long as it’s opaque->opaque or transparent->transparent, and there’s no surface treatment) is pretty minimal. And Rivendell _also_ has some entirely new pieces (the fern, weapons, and hairpieces, at least) and some large parts. I don’t know whether the price difference reflects a development cost or production cost I’m not thinking of, the license fees Disney charges, or what Lego thinks that Star Wars fans will pay, but I _am_ curious. It’s also interesting to compare it to the Lion Knight’s Castle, which has a similar number of minifigs (plus a cow!) and is only 80% the price. But it’s also only 75% the part count, and it’s not obvious to me that it has more (or fewer) large or specialized pieces.
This is stunning alas being that I’m not a lord of the rings fan, I don’t really have the space, and due to the current financial climate I’m probably going to have to pass on this set. It is definitely an incredible piece of tlc though and I’ve seen on Lego Canada it’s on back order so hopefully it does well. For my style I personally find this to be the best of the best in terms of Lego sets at this price.

Like others have said, like how you compare movie scenes side by side to the set for comparison. Other reviews just show the set, which is pretty but comparing to the source helps appreciate it more

I think mini-scale was a mistake, might be in the minority but I wanted a more majestic landmark design on a more impressive scales. I think there a better MOCs out there. Minifigs are the bait here i think :)

This set is honestly my favorite set of all time, I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
More care put into this set than the entire Rings of power.
Why does every Lego Set leave room to wish it was just a little bit better, then I´d buy it. The Stickers in this Set are a real letdown, as my Stickers at home on Lego pieces usually crumble and look aweful after just a few years. And if I´d invest a whopping 500€ in a Lego set, I dont want it to be "broken" after like 2 years. Thats already so expensive, and it wouldn´t cost Lego that much. They just got sooo greedy recently.
The cinematic shots in this review are so impressive. The zoom ins on the details and inside buildings really make the video so much better. Great Job :)

@@nathanwharton2420 look up ‘Lego survey leak’ and try and find pictures, many of them were taken down. I believe a massive Barad-Dur was pictured as well as some other IPs such as a Zelda set, a UCS sail barge for Star Wars, some Harry Potter stuff, marvel X Mansion, and the temple of doom set that’s being talked about a lot rn. It’s hard to find pictures because Lego really cracked down, Reddit took them down from most places, and no big publishing companies used the pictures

hello everyone. I am after some real, thought out and non biased advice. I am 13 years old and could afford this by the end of the year. the question is: should I buy it? I love lord of the rings and Lego, of course. However I also build computers and I am looking to get a new CPU and GPU. I usually spend about £500 a year on Lego so this would take up most of the budget. I also have a smaller bedroom so I don't know if it would take up too much space. I just wish it was a bit smaller and less expensive. will it be underwhelming if I get it after no Lego for a year? I broke my leg last week so have been a bit pampered recently. I was given an airfix kit, lots of sweets, duck, steak and the Lego sets obi wans jedi starfighter and the dark trooper attack. obi wan's fighter is better for the price by the way. Anyway, I could buy it, but should I? I just don't know. it would take away so much, models, PC components, other Lego, clothes, furniture and more. I get about £200 for my birthday and the same for Christmas, plus more scattered throughout the year. I also can do chores for an extra bit of money. it will be a hard decision and I apricciate any help from you. I can sell some Lego too. I have a £45 figure, 2 £18 and a load of other £10 figs. I also have every box so if I sold my used sets they'd be worth a little more, namely Grevious's starfighter and a few sealed battle packs. Gosh, this is getting long, isn't it? Right, I'm sure I've made many spelling mistakes and a plethora of grammatical errors but ignore that, please, and give me your thoughts on this matter. Thanks for reading and helping out.
this is a hard one. and this is the problem with lego right now, those price tags are just a huge middlefinger to everyone who isn't swimming in money. No matter how big a fan you are, if you can't afford it, you can't. And dont anyone tell me about inflation and stuff - it is just a bunch of plastic, and looking at sets like that rollercoaster that was a complete disaster, it isn't even top quality any more.
Lego would still be able to pay all their employees and design great stuff if that set would come at 350.
But everyone is still paying, and then you have a bunch of youtubers that get it for free and can tell everyone how great it is, cause they are not affected by that price tag.
I don't know a solution here, and dunno if there will ever be a discout on that rivendell.
But if 500 bucks is you whole budget for a year, meeh.
Any chance of, like, getting the whole family to throw together and you throwing in some 100 bucks and making this a christmas present?

This Lego set is like any other set in recent years. Way too expensive. I mean its disgusting expensive.
It’s truly a beautiful set. Ironically, I would only invest in this if I knew there was going to be more to match it.
The only striking feature of this Lego set are its colored roof tiles. This set is overpriced.

I am currently building this. It's a super enjoyable build. I just have the big middle section left and I'm quickly realizing I have nowhere to place this. I gotta do some quick rearranging

I would never buy this for myself, but gotta consider buying a couple just to store for a couple years will get you a better return than just about any other investment you could make on the stock market today.
Fantastic review as ever Tiago. Brilliant presentation of the greatest official Lego set imo. Kudos to the designers that the main Rivendell building is incredible as a stand alone model but combined with other beautiful builds it is overall astonishing with all those perfectly balanced colours

Between this and Barad-Dur, I'm okay with quality over quantity. It would be nice if there were more affordable sets still in production, though.

Just like the set, this video has great attention to details! It's an impressive set, more over for LOTR fans. Having said that, I still find 10305 Lion Knights Castle to be the better $500 set of these two. I'm sure it'll sell well, and I hope well enough to justify more sets for LOTR fans.
I also prefer the Lion Castle (I have it), the castle is very chunky and solid. I also like the more historical accuracy compared to the fantasy of LOTR (LOTR is still great though..).
But they aren't in exactly the same class though? I think the Castle is $100 cheaper and has 2000 piecer fewer than the LOTR set?
@@joostdriesens3984 True, but I still consider these two to be more connected (if you remove/change the LOTR figures and MOC a bit, it can just as well be a part of a village/castle layout) than the Lego Titanic set Tiago mentioned/recommended in this video.

I’m half way done with this set, my wife and I have been at it since Sunday. It’s everything I could have asked for as a fan of Tolkien. I really hope people show up for this one. I doubt I’ll ever show up for a Star Wars UCS above $200usd, but LoTR sets? Day one, whatever the price, I’m there.

Bought it on day 1, in the middle east its actually 580 Euros. and I still bought it. Anyone who visits my apartment says the the best Lego set they have ever seen
As for price and value: the thing that immediately jumped out at me is that it’s as many pieces as the UCS Razor Crest, 10 more “real” minifigs plus the 6 statues, a whole new set of weapon molds, some new dual-molded hair elements, and it’s $100 cheaper.
Sure, there a bunch of 1x1 tiles in Rivendell, and the Razor Crest had a couple new large-ish pieces. But except for the windscreen print, these were all recolors of existing elements, and I’m thinking the expense of a new color (so long as it’s opaque->opaque or transparent->transparent, and there’s no surface treatment) is pretty minimal. And Rivendell _also_ has some entirely new pieces (the fern, weapons, and hairpieces, at least) and some large parts.
I don’t know whether the price difference reflects a development cost or production cost I’m not thinking of, the license fees Disney charges, or what Lego thinks that Star Wars fans will pay, but I _am_ curious.
It’s also interesting to compare it to the Lion Knight’s Castle, which has a similar number of minifigs (plus a cow!) and is only 80% the price. But it’s also only 75% the part count, and it’s not obvious to me that it has more (or fewer) large or specialized pieces.
Gorgeous set, THIS is what a big expensive set should be like, not oversized non-toys like the Black Panther bust or the Hulkbuster
This is stunning alas being that I’m not a lord of the rings fan, I don’t really have the space, and due to the current financial climate I’m probably going to have to pass on this set. It is definitely an incredible piece of tlc though and I’ve seen on Lego Canada it’s on back order so hopefully it does well. For my style I personally find this to be the best of the best in terms of Lego sets at this price.
