2:34 For context, the reason why Spongebob looks so gritty and somewhat hyper detailed here, is that this is a DIRECT reference to Rat Fink! 🐀 Rat Fink is a beloved mascot within the world of hot rod/car custom culture, with it being made by the artist Ed Roth. If you're not sure if you have ever seen this mascot on anything (trust me, he's on like a trillion t-shirts and decals, and even got some official vinyl figure merch through different toy manufacturers), it is simply a very grotesque looking rat, with rancid green skin, MASSIVE bulging eyes, NUMEROUS building veins across his flesh and eyeballs, him wearing a pair of overalls that says R.F. on it, and he is usually portrayed to be riding a hot rod. Although I am not part of the subculture this mascot is attached to, I AM in the indie designer toy/sofubi artist community, and I can see clearly a ton of pieces and custom one-off figurines that were in the vein of mimicking Rat Fink OR are a direct tribute to Ed Roth's extremely detailed 'gross-out' art style.😆 His art style is NOT for everyone, but I really enjoy how overly kinetic and frantic his work feels like!
Considering this game came out in the early 2000’s when the Rat Fink craze was still rampant, it’s not really all that surprising tbh. I think I also remember their being a Rat Fink reference in one of the newer SpongeBob episodes

I loved playing this game as a kid. I just love how crazy and dark the thing is. It takes the SpongeBob ip in some super weird directions and I LOVE IT. It would be great if we got this game Rehydrated or at least just an upscaled pc port. They’d probably be able to reuse a fair amount of the assets from Cosmic Shake and BFBBR as long as they fit. That way development would be more streamlined. More people should enjoy this wonderful fever dream.

i have incredible memories from this game!! used to play it with my brother on the ps2. absolutely ADORE the soundtrack too. this is one of those rare licensed games that genuinely has a ton of charm & still holds a big place in my heart from childhood :)
The Nighty Nightmares bit at 23:15 just unlocked a massively deep hidden memory cluster for me I played this game over and over when I was young like YOUNG probably 4-6 years old. Hearing that jellyfish spaceship ambiance felt like opening up hidden ruins thousands of years old
You might've played the other aWe Games games, like Enployee of the Month, The Movie Game, Light Camera Pants, and more. They re-use a lot of assets, most likely due to low budgets, small teams, and tight release schedules to coincide with the game releases. They have a lot of charm to them.
Theres a Mandela effect I suffer from. I swear once as a kid i saw a pc port of cftkk. It wasn't nighty nightmare. I looked on the back. It absolutely was its own thing. Years later when mom bought nighty nightmare at a sears......somehow. I didn't recognize it. But saw a giant plankton in the back. Id they ever perhals sell cftkk in a cd sized case for a different console?
I remember when my local video store was going out of business & selling off all their DVD & Video Games, I asked my mom to get me "Spongebob: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman", only to come back with this game. I was bummed at the time but after hearing about all the stuff about RotFD, I think I dodged a bullet. Though the Plankton chase level still freaked me out as a kid. Also while on the topic of underrated Spongebob games, "Lights, Camera, Pants!" is a certified hood classic.
i know im 9 months late on this, but i feel like yall would love to know; i have a hawaiian floral style shirt with spongebob and patrick in the "Rat Fink" design driving their cars (light blue with pink character outlines). I had found it thrifting, and to be honest it has become one of my favorite shirts, as it is one of the most NICHE thing you can imagine getting your hands on, let alone through sheer blind luck.
Definitely a good game if you played how it was meant to be and not with motion controls. As a kid I wasnt skilled in games so what really got me through was how interesting the game was even if gross out spongebob was a suprise at first I really loved the game. I did somehow manage to beat it though and probabaly never will understand that ending.
FINALLY A VIDEO ON THIS SCARY ASS GAME 😭😭 I remember seeing the cover thinking "this game looks rad!" and turn to the back and see Patrick and Spongebob with the most uncanny distorted faces. Something about them looking so unnaturally angry and insane made me feel scared. Whenever my sisters would play it on the TV I would run out the room❤️😭
CFTKK overall is a lot more chaotic compared to AWE Games’ unique take on the story. Nighty Nightmare is supposedly their version of CFTKK, but it might as well be labeled an entirely different game. It doesn’t have the most interesting gameplay, but it DOES have three things that this game doesn’t: Giant Plankton fighting Krabzilla, Dreaded Patrick actually being defeated once and for all, and SpongeBob stopping an alien invasion while revealing he’s a Dirty Harry fan.
This. This was my FIRST console game that I ever played, and I remember it so vividly! I had it on the (at the time) brand new PS2 Slim, and I remember walking out into the living room when I must have been like 6 or 7, and being so excited to play! But then my parents and I noticed something upon booting up the game…we had to continue without saving, which we didn’t understand why. So my parents, after looking up how to save data, told me that we needed a Memory Card! So the next day, Dad went out and got two memory cards, one Blue, the other was Red. That game never ended up with me, and long story short I still have that PS2 and blue memory card to this day. I still play games frequently and it’s all thanks to my wonderful parents, who I miss dearly. Unfortunately, cancer ended up claiming them too soon. I’m 20 now, and I’ll never forget the day they introduced me to my lifelong hobby and passion. I miss them both dearly, and this game is a sincere reminder of them and my journey through life. Anyway, thanks for reading if you made it this far!
I have so much nostalgia for this game but i never knew what it was till now💀 also for some reason all the memories i have of this game are only the patrick part😭
I played this all the time on the GameCube, I remember everything felt super surreal and the artsyle really creeped me out. But that’s what made me love it so much. I guess constantly playing this game as a kid (it was one of only like 6 games I ever had for the GameCube) is one of the main reasons I love anything “uncanny valley” to this day. Going for all the endings was so much fun, and I remember feeling so proud of myself once I finally got 100%.
Love your voice, commentary AND editing style! This is super interesting too. I've been having a really difficult time getting inspired today, and for some reason this video is doing it for me :-) Makes me wanna go play old CD games from my childhood lol
I KNEW I wasn’t dreaming about this game! I visually Remember SpongeBob and that very weird face he made. I always thought it was a racing game where you play as certain characters. First you play as SpongeBob and then after he runs after his driving license you play as Plankton (for some reason) if onlyI was able to and play it for myself at the time…
This game, Tak, Psychonauts, The SpongeBob Movie (The game/ movie itself) was some of the most awesome parts of my childhood, This literally unlocked memories I forgot I had holy shit
This game was my childhood! I had this on the Wii, it was surreal, unique, had awesome music, cool combat mechanics, and some of the most creative settings/random plots out there! One of the best Wii games I've ever played, the Plankton freeze ray stage was my favorite!
The fact that it was so ambitious according to the co founder explains why the GameCube version has various texture and graphical glitches, audio bugs where the audio is either DELAYED or missing in cutscenes…probably should’ve just stuck to developing for PS2 and Wii, the PS2 would still be a good alternate for those who don’t want motion controls.
I remember LOVING this game as a kid! Mostly the Plankton levels but I also remember being confused as heck by that ending, even to this day I don’t know what that ending was…
I did check the development to see if they had a hand in making my favourite spongebob game from the ps2, the Atlantis game. And they did!. I loved that game as a kid and I am suprised that they are now defunct.
This was my jam back in the day but the worm level and hearing Jellyfish screaming in fear and possibly agony made me feel bad...right before flying away from Plankton and later shooting him. At least the idle, dialogue animations had more frames than Nicktoons Unite
I got this game off eBay for the PS2, and despite its unusual weirdness, I'd say it lines up quite well with BFBB and the movie game as some of the greatest Spongebob games to be made.
The pc port was my childhood man, and it *does* have a version that just has the creature name; made it really hard to find as an adult I never actually finished it, the plankton level was too hard for my simple brain and the second half of Patrick's always got me
I got so excited when I saw you were talking about the Creature from the Krusty Krab and then I got really confused why I don't recognize anything. Turns out the Gameboy version I played in ny childhood was completely different to the other versions. Man I loved the Gameboy version, such nice memories
Hell yes thank u, it took me 15 years to figure out what game had the golden spatula, I loved this game as a kid and I prolly woulda never knew the name without you
Omg… i thought I’d be able to go the rest of my life without ever having to be reminded of one of the single most traumatizing pieces of childhood nightmare fuel that were the racing portions of this game. And yet here we are.
Here in Mexico there used to be a promotion on some chips bags that included a "toy" called "Tazos" and usually the tazos came branded with a popular cartoon of those times, I remember vividly a line of tazos exclusive with that gritty artstyle... I loved it as a child.
This is my favorite SpongeBob game of all time. The variety of levels, the great music, the artstyle of the game, the eerie slighty unsettling atmosphere, the ethereal aesthetic, the secrets, even the art in the loading screens, I absolutely love this game. While there are some points I disagree with, thank you for giving this game some deserved attention.🔥
This game has had a special place in my heart ever since I first saw it back when I wasn't even able to spell creature. Thank you, discount Gigguk, for talking about it, you've made my day
Had this on the Wii as a spitting child. Never beat the game bc the last race w SpongeBob to get the patty was almost impossible to me. I’d love to buy a Wii and try it all again. Thanks for bringing me some great memories 🥲
holy SHIT bro this unlocked some core fucking memories, I played this game ALL THE TIME on my ps2 seeing this gameplay again is so incredibly nostalgic. Great video I can tell this channel is going to blow up dude.
FINALLY someone talks about this game instead of the other popular ones, i remember getting this game on Christmas back in around 2006/2007 and was so hyped since i also got a spongebob luggage/backpack type bag
the game is better on Wii cause when you play the giant plankton level, you get to swing the controllers to punch, shake nunchuk to stomp, and press the A button to fire your lazer eye, you get to immerse yourself and be the kaiju and smash a city
I miss the time when you bought and fully owned a game. To the point that creators specifically included dedicated cheat codes for you to enjoy the game completely. It's your game, your world, you own it, and you can play it however you want whenever you want. Miss that.
Creature From The Krusty Krab was my version of Battle For Bikini Bottom personally. I never played Battle, I only played the minigame PC port. But playing Creature on the Wii was the BEST time! Plus, the music absolutely slaps in the game! Especially in the Starfish-Man levels!
This episode is clearly a loose adaptation of the Season 1 episode "Sleepy Time", especially the parts where Spongebob is driving and Plankton is basically a kaiju that can shoot lasers from his eyes and is destroying Bikini Bottom. Though this game does remind me a lot of the game Psychonauts, another platformer involving a character going through mindscapes.
This was one of my favorite games, I had it on ps2 so thankfully no motion controls. Made it all the way to the last racing level at the end and couldn't get past it lol
There was a phone in our neighborhood that was so loud and would ring and sound exactly like the phone in the patrick star dream part, me and my brother were so dazzled
I had the GameCube disk that I played on the Wii, and this game was super eerie for me. There were some levels that had no music, and the ending cutscene had no sound AT ALL. It was like I was playing a liminal game.

The ending really f's me up man. All 3 of them were sentient and ceased to exist once Gary wakes up lol
That game was so good but the diesel dreaming part was so MEMORABLE
I have so much nostalgia for this game but i never knew what it was till now💀
also for some reason all the memories i have of this game are only the patrick part😭
Same
This is the best SpongeBob game, I enjoyed every minute of it and every replay I do I realize how beautiful life is
I played this all the time on the GameCube, I remember everything felt super surreal and the artsyle really creeped me out.
My brother and mom played this game so much when I was younger. We had all the tutorials printed out and everything.
One of the best Wii games I've ever played, the Plankton freeze ray stage was my favorite!
i had this on ps2 as a kid, and any time i try to remember the game its just a hazy fever dream memory of spongebob being a crackhead
I remember having the Wii version of this game, but never finished it. I swear those door cranks only worked when they felt like it
I got this game for the Wii because my parents thought it was BFBB. Crazy to see someone cover it.
Battle for Bikini Bottom, The Movie Game and Creature from Krusty Crab were a huge part of my childhood. I wish the other 2 would get remaked aswell.
I remember playing this on the PS2 when I was young
I STILL don't understand what they were smoking when they made the plot
I remember LOVING this game as a kid! Mostly the Plankton levels but I also remember being confused as heck by that ending, even to this day I don’t know what that ending was…
The racing level's ost is unexpectedly good, it kept me playing the whole game
I did check the development to see if they had a hand in making my favourite spongebob game from the ps2, the Atlantis game. And they did!. I loved that game as a kid and I am suprised that they are now defunct.
8:45 I appreciate that you use Cyber Sleuth OST there.
Finding this video unlocked a core memory
The pc port was my childhood man, and it *does* have a version that just has the creature name; made it really hard to find as an adult
I never actually finished it, the plankton level was too hard for my simple brain and the second half of Patrick's always got me
I remember mistaking this game for the squarepants movie tie-in, but when I beat this, I beat it through again and again. I loved it.
My favorite SpongeBob game
Same
I mostly remember the ending because in the GameCube version the ending has no audio at all
I remember the gritty SpongeBob appearing on "tazos" and i think the designs are cool and unhinged
They were called SpongeBob Turbo
I got so excited when I saw you were talking about the Creature from the Krusty Krab and then I got really confused why I don't recognize anything. Turns out the Gameboy version I played in ny childhood was completely different to the other versions. Man I loved the Gameboy version, such nice memories
Im so glad your Channel was recommended to me you definetly earned a Sub! Great Video on this Spongebob Game i never knew existed lol
While there are some points I disagree with, thank you for giving this game some deserved attention.🔥
this game was a distant memory from my childhood ive searched for and never found, thank you for making this video
I’m in late asf but you unlocked my childhood 🤯
Seeing the menu screen and the opening cinematic felt like i just played it yesterday i dont know how i remember everything so good
31:56 Sandy actually is in the game in Plankton’s first level in get treedome
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE GAMES OF ALL TIME! I’m so glad to see it’s not just a dream!
Forget my previous comment
7:42 Oh my God he's witerally hitting the gwiddy
"Who hits a clean griddy deep under the sea"
"SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS"
This game has had a special place in my heart ever since I first saw it back when I wasn't even able to spell creature. Thank you, discount Gigguk, for talking about it, you've made my day
HOLY SHITT THE NOSTALGIA IS FLOWING THROUGH MY ENTIRE BODY
If this wasn’t your 2nd vid I would be even more mad about how underrated you are
The ending was a lot more confusing for me because I played the GameCube version and for some reason the last cutscene has no audio
Rented this three times form Blockbuster to finally finish the game.
Had this on the Wii as a spitting child. Never beat the game bc the last race w SpongeBob to get the patty was almost impossible to me. I’d love to buy a Wii and try it all again. Thanks for bringing me some great memories 🥲
The musics of this game are absolute bangers.
This has always been my favourite SpongeBob game (even more than BFBB and the movie game!) Thank you for making a video about it
You got an insta subscription from me when you said that lights, camera, pants was the best one.
I legit got a SpongeBob game ad before this video launched and wasn't sure if it was part of the vid
holy SHIT bro this unlocked some core fucking memories, I played this game ALL THE TIME on my ps2 seeing this gameplay again is so incredibly nostalgic. Great video I can tell this channel is going to blow up dude.
so many memories unlocked
Fun fact, the PC version was a totally different game for some reason. That is the one I grew up with and it was certainly weird. Fun too.
Spongebob was hitting the griddy
I've beaten this game as a kid and always thought this was battle for bikini bottom.
I remember always seeing an ad for this game in a DVD of Atlantis Squarepantis
I never played Battle for Bikini Bottom. This and the pc port of Lights Camera Pants were the SpongeBob games I played growing up.
This is one of my favorite SpongeBob games 🎮
My favorite levels are Plankton 🔥 especially the Krabby Patty chase 🔥
FINALLY someone talks about this game instead of the other popular ones, i remember getting this game on Christmas back in around 2006/2007 and was so hyped since i also got a spongebob luggage/backpack type bag
the game is better on Wii cause when you play the giant plankton level, you get to swing the controllers to punch, shake nunchuk to stomp, and press the A button to fire your lazer eye, you get to immerse yourself and be the kaiju and smash a city
@cosmicsatanas what headaches? I never got headaches from it
I miss the time when you bought and fully owned a game. To the point that creators specifically included dedicated cheat codes for you to enjoy the game completely. It's your game, your world, you own it, and you can play it however you want whenever you want.
Miss that.
THANK YOU!
I've been trying to remember this game FOR YEARS.
Oh my god, I need to play it again.
7:43 I can’t believe I never knew SpongeBob was the inventor of the griddy
Nobody believes me when I say that.
Creature From The Krusty Krab was my version of Battle For Bikini Bottom personally. I never played Battle, I only played the minigame PC port. But playing Creature on the Wii was the BEST time! Plus, the music absolutely slaps in the game! Especially in the Starfish-Man levels!
This is still my favorite SpongeBob game I love it for being so unique
definitely a reference to rat fink horrifying racing art
Dude, Creature from the Krusty Krab DEFINED me & my brother's childhood. It was one of the many first few games we played when we got our PS2.
I saw this game a while back and it permanently traumatized me
This was one of my favorite games, I had it on ps2 so thankfully no motion controls. Made it all the way to the last racing level at the end and couldn't get past it lol
There was a phone in our neighborhood that was so loud and would ring and sound exactly like the phone in the patrick star dream part, me and my brother were so dazzled
The theme from the menu ABSOLUTELY BANGS 😎😎😎😎
I had the GameCube disk that I played on the Wii, and this game was super eerie for me. There were some levels that had no music, and the ending cutscene had no sound AT ALL. It was like I was playing a liminal game.
I played and beat this game once as a kid, and it lurked in the back of my mind for so long.
back in 2007 i'd rely on cheat code books to help me figure out what video games are out
great memories
