Your horse dying of natural causes was hysterical😂
The look on your face and the long, uncomprehending silence when your horse randomly died was so funny.
You found a Jackalope which is a rare cryptid in the game it seems. That's why the bunny had antlers, it's some folklore thing I believe
@@gmanoncrack2592 when I found it myself I thought it was a glitch or something because it's an old game and never bothered to chase it or anything lol
I think it's legendary as well in the game
40:23 IMPORTANT: some Mission of the game will have a skip to destination prompt like the one shown here. I advise you to not press it before checking if there's actual dialogue, because sometimes after some seconds of silence the characters can start long conversations!
The horse just saying "nah fam you continue without me" was hilarious lmao
Bonnie definitely has a crush on John
@1:16:48 It's a jackalope- a rabbit with antlers. It's a fictional animal.
If you want to keep that horse, or any other ones you have to hitch it at a hitching post
1:33:06 "He'll never dance with another, OOOOOH, when he saw her sanding there"
15:04 The red bar is the dead eye meter, don't worry, english isn't my first language either
The horse you start with was the best one in the game, the war horse. It's too bad you lost it.
The atmosphere and dialogue is darker because RDR2 starts with a group of people trying to be positive and stick together, and RDR is about John killing Bill so he can get his family back. It's totally different circumstances.
Last thing, Rabbits with antlers are called Jackelops!
Edit: Glad to see you back in Red Dead world!!!
That's what ya call riding ur horse into the ground. RIP 🐴🪦
Love the vid thank for making my day brighter
The first words got me smiling from ear to ear 😁
It always makes me happy to see you play 😊
The cow herding mission was by far the most frustrating for me when I first played this those many years ago 😂
Btw, the yellow/palomino horse that Bonnie let you keep is called a Kentucky Saddler, and is one of the fastest horses in the game. If for some reason your horse dies you can buy their deed in a general store so you can call another horse of that same type immediately
I'm so thrilled to hear you're breaking in a horse currently during this playthrough 😭 I miss equestrian things too, playing red dead scratched the itch in so many ways. So excited to see you finally playing rdr1 though, I loved your rdr2 play through so much! Also- this may sound odd but watching this made me realize how much in common rdr has with Yakuza dialogue & gameplay. It's so similar it's kind of crazy. Maybe look into trying Yakuza 0 (zero) as a starting point if you're ever interested, the characters are SO endearing and there are so many goofy random things, I think you'd love it Cam (and sorry if you've already tried it and I didn't know)! Good luck with the horse breaking :D
Stranger killer! Horse killer!! Great work so far!!!
That’s so cool that you work with horses irl! What a parallel with this game! Feel free to share more about your irl experience with horses. Feels like perfect commentary for a game like this!!
It's not really even remastered, just a port with some quality of life improvements
There are some lighting and draw distance improvements. I don't know what a remaster really constitutes though, since the old definition of remaster is now a remake.
Awesome video Cam loving the chill vibes, I'm glad you're enjoying it so far, Its tempting to give tips or pointers but I wouldn't want to spoil it for you, it's more entertaining watching you figure it out yourself 😂 😊
Loving this series and I'm so glad Read dead is back with the OG game
Even though the graphics are worse, I prefer the look on Marston in this game for some reason.
5:03 you shoot, that is how you help, this is not RDR2....
21:03
In John defense, he got that line from Dutch 😂 There's a random camp encounter in RDR 2 where Dutch says exactly that. I'm still not sure what the two theories are though 😅
I guess it means neither trying to prove your point or to ignore both don't work
That giggle after you carefully say “baked” beans 😂😂😂😂😂 I am dying
that horse death was something lol I guess it was some kind of a bug don't remember something like that ever happening on my playthrough. Either way, I'm glad you are taking the time to play this one, I just hope you finish it, not many people do specially after playing RDR2 because it is kind of a downgrade in many aspects, even though at the time it came out I thought RDR2 would be a mistake because I could not believe this game getting any better, and I'm glad I was wrong. you will love the story in the end I'm sure of it, just don't get too high expectations for a 15 year old game
The jackalope is a rabbit with antlers in the southern most states in the US or in Mexico! LOL!!
Admit it… Silent Hill 2 is too scary? 😝 Your face when the horse just died. 😂 So funny! ❤
Bunny with antlers is called jackalope
Oh yeah back in 2010 this game was mind-blowing. I remember staying up way too late every night during the summer and just playing poker for hours because I enjoyed the atmosphere and random NPC dialogue so much 😄
RDR 1 and Assassin's Creed II got me into playing open world action games and now that's probably my favorite genre 😊
RDR1 sure is crazy haha love the Ragdolls. You cant pet the dog but you can lasso it haha.
Literally checked if you have updated your playlist to see if a new part is about to come out soon 20 minutes ago. And there it is 😌
Supposedly there's a programming glitch that will randomly kill your horse if you ride on the train tracks. As you progress deeper into the game you'll switch out horses more frequently, but in the New Austin chapter (IE everything between MacFarlane Ranch and Tumbleweed) if you stick with the same mount long enough it'll drop dead for no apparent reason.
8:11 single dad who owes 0.1 pesos to The cartel
the fact that your horse dies in this way, according to my theory is because it receives a shot from one of the npc with which you face shooting in some mission,or a random encounter, like the one about saving the treasure hunter. the funny thing is that it does not die at that moment, and it may take a few seconds or minutes to do it later, I say that, because the times that has happened to me, it has happened, when I have been shot while on my horse.
#cambonano hitching your new horse at your house will transfer the saddle. That War Horse dicument is the deed for the War Horse that died. You can click on it, then whistle for the horse and it will come to you.
I’ve had the worst luck with horses in these games. I’ve had them die by jumping off a cliff when I whistle for them and hitched horses randomly breaking free and walking in front of a train. I’ve never seen one just collapse and die while riding it.
I remember being able to go at Johns house in some point by horse. Maybe if you go there without using a mark you could be successful. It's very interesting what you can find there to see the whereabouts of your family.
So about the stagecoach travel you can choose more options when the driver leaves the towns and you can press to ride faster or slower. Also you can change seats and look at the windows aiming with your gun too if you need it. It's a very neat feature that only this game has and you can actually enjoy the ride and use your marker to travel there in any place at the map.
And of course you can jump off the vehicle at any time you need to side quests and interact with people or somethings like that. It's very cool and sometimes you can use that feature to rest and think for a bit while getting familiar with the roads for later.
Just a funny and stupid behavior of mine in this game I hope you could try it out for the sake of it: go to the priests that usually keep preaching in front of the saloons and press R2 ( in playstation controller) with no guns in your hands. It's amazing and I laughed so hard at the first time I did it by mistake haha
Not had the 1st horse die suddenly or randomly when i played it years ago and the first time i have seen it watching a playthrough 😮 was funny shocking and sad all the emotions
F for the horse. You will ride with the clouds now, my boy.
11:30 I had one of my horses drop dead like that too on my PC playthrough. Still have no idea what happened, and sadly I don't remember if that happened on my PS3 way back then. This game did have a fair share of bugs when it launched back then (teleporting into the sky & manimals were awesome), but this was the only PC one I encountered and it made me quite sad. At least the horses respawn in this game lol
Also there is a question mark if you ride from Bonnie's ranch towards Thieve's landing, about halfway there you'll see it, that sidequest is worth completing, rewarding scene at the end
The Dialogue in this game is differnt same Writers Dan Houser and his team but RDR1 is more like a Spaghetti Western then two. I love the Dialogue in both games but some like the Dialogue more in this one. Rockstar have some Great Dialogue in their games.

Cam doing her part in the fight against overpopulation of the planet 😅
0:08 exited is an understatment!
That woman in white was a ghost yeah
Excellent video
That whole Peter side quest is one big dick joke. Because Rockstar, that's why.
just wondering, did you give up on the Elden Ring DLC?
If i remember correctly red dead is relatively the same time length as RDR2
This is the first time John mentions his daughter. My head canon is that they had her during the 7 years between Arthur’s death and the start of the Epilogue
My head canon is that they had her during the 4 years between the end of the epilogue of RDR 2 and the start of this game
@@Mercurial_Phantom That's not your head canon, it's just canon. John states explicitly that he was in a gang before having his daughter.
John had his daughter called Rachel and later his former horse called as a tribute with Rachel in RDR2 in the epilogue. She may had died in the golden age of Van Der Linde gang but also you might be right about the skipped time during the epilogue. That part I don't know.
at the end of the epilouge abigail is knitting something and hints towards it being for a baby
After you complete the treasure hunter challenges, the stagecoach is free.
Ahh.
Yeah you can play blackjack and also Liar's Dice, which was cut from rdr2 for some reason
I thought that Jackalopes was only available in Undead nightmare?
If you are on pc you could try some reshades and reality redemption
Pretty sure the horse got fatally wounded during the firefight with the treasure map attackers, when you mounted back up the horse was covered with blood and I know with the wild life in the game they also sometimes have delayed deaths where you shoot them and they take off but die shortly after of their injuries. I do believe thats what happened here it just also had the programming of being your horse and you riding it so it was a bit janky.
Its also very possible the horse was already hurt from the gunshots but while you were getting the map the horse got bite by a snake which does DOT damage and they can be crazy hard to notice they are even there till you're bit.
More side missions please
54:45 4 years after the Epilogue
It is possible to ride the horses too hard, I’ve never experienced it, but seen clips a couple times recently, right side around mini map I believe is deadeye, there’s not really a health bar, the screen just goes blood splattered red
My mare disappeared while I was sleeping, also never got to put saddle on it.. Will be interesting to see if you can..
Nice videos
9:55 it's not even a remaster, its just a port
so its a shitland or a shedland :P
❤
This video is going ti be awesome!❤ 💯
👍

John having a daughter probably happened either in RDR2 in between the years when Arthur dies and the game switches over a couple years later to John, or otherwise it happened after the events of the epilogue in RDR2 in the years between then and now in this game.
I think the first scenario is more likely, but you never hear any dialogue about it in RDR2.
I think his daughter either died during childbirth or when she was a toddler, in any case she must’ve been very young.
There is also a theory that John named his horse in RDR2’s epilogue after his daughter, I haven’t seen any kind of confirmation about this but it would explain how he came up with the name Rachel.
It can't have been in RDR2 because John says that he was in a gang years before his daughter's passing.
@ it can, in the years between when Arthur dies and the game switches over to John.
Remember, Jack was about 5/6 years old in the time you play as Arthur, when the game switches over to the epilogue Jack is 12, so actually there’s a very good chance it could’ve happened in those years
@@yersiniapestis5237 You forget that the Epilogue takes place SEVER YEARS after the events of the main game... and his horse in RDR2 is named after her daughter
The depth of personality is what's missing from this one.
That, plus the crazy level of options and the graphical update, and you can see why those of us that played this game new flipped our lids when we first hit the snow in RDR2.
Assuming you mean characters depth, but would you define what you mean by that? How its missing exactly?
@@cesarborgia9240 I guess I did leave that comment kind of ambiguous.
I just meant that this one wasn't as fleshed out, not as grand in scope or scale. The characters are good -- really good, as it's the first game that ever made me feel something other than mindless joy, and an all-time favorite -- but just not up to the same level as the prequel.
I meant, specifically, the personality of the overall game wasn't as deep as the prequel in that the hunting, the goings-on in every settlement, the game days and weeks you could live without ever doing a single mission, being able to talk to every single person, etc. I do love the game, as I've said, but... it just doesn't hold a candle to RDR2.
I'm not putting down RDR, and I would never do so. I'm just lifting up RDR2. The two games, even though in the same universe, are totally a case of apples vs oranges.
change outfit
Rdr 1 takes place years after the events of rdr2
1911 to be precise
4 years after the Epilogue
52:53 John remembering Arthur.
@@santsandoval7 no, not everything is about Arthur, so stop making it
He Is clearly talking about Dutch, stop making things up
@@fabiog9447 Dutch wasn't a "good man in a way"
@@santsandoval7 we as spectators know that. But he (John) was saved as an orphan by him, he's been told by him how to read, how to live. So even after all the awful things Dutch has done it's quite normal that John still thinks that he had some good in him, as he Is obviously biased. Well, you can still think John was talking about Arthur even if he said "the LEADER of the gang" and the kne and only leader of the gang has ever had has been Dutch Van der linde if that makes you happier.
@@santsandoval7He definitely was, at least for a time.
