Hey guys, I'm still trying to figure out how to make the new instrument cluster play nicey-nice with the other modules. If / when I get it figured out, I'll make a follow up video.
You literally have 3 options - 1) either remove and repprogram EERPROM chip inside the cluster and load it up with the correct VIN, or easier one - 2) align IKE, ABS and LCM with VIN from IKE. You can adjust both odometer and vin with BMW Scanner on LCM and IKE. IKE will be showing incorrect odometer (non-factual), but trifect should go away. 3) Third option is to use ISTA to manually reconfigure VIN on IKE but I haven't heard of any. success with used clusters - eerprom detects any attempt to alter the nubmers. If you decide to go with 1) - Chris Hutchins is doing this stuff, he's in NC. Find him on e46fanatics.
@@keys_to_power hi there. Could you please type wich thread did Chris explaining this procedure? . I'm gonna subscribe that forum cause I have the same problem with the abs asc unit and want definitely solve it. thank you very much in advance
@@keys_to_power EERPROM is still the best option, never did it myself but the pretty clear take your used chip transfer it and its like nothing changed, doing the other option requires expensive tools and is just to complicated and prone to security issues.
Thanks so much for this video. I just successfully replaced the DSC module and this saved me so much time. Just being patient and watching your video closely was the trick. Great Video!
Hi Michael. I am building my e46 325i for drifting. Thats my first sport car, and I had none previous experience in working on cars. I have fully reworked my back suspension, reinforced the chassis, deleted AC and cleaned the saloon all with your help! I wanted to say thank you for your videos, they are treasures!
I think I have a bad dsc on a 2002 330i. I have a foxwell code reader which show a 5df5 error code. I drove it watching the speed sensors and they all tracked within 1 of each other. Most of the time all four read the same. Sould I check anything else before buying a $200 used DSC? The code reader shows it as an MK60.... I have appreciated your videos and expertise for several years now and thank you in advance for any advice you might have for me..
I think the electronics are messed up on mine, I was driving and randomly I heard the pump going crazy and the car braking itself without me touching the brake, after that the dsc and abs lights went up, you think i can get away with just replacing what you did here?
I can't say for sure. But it sounds like the controller going bad. But just to be sure, you should scan for trouble codes, and go from there. Edit to add: For example, if a wheel speed sensor is feeding bad data to the controller, it might freak out the controller. This is where time & effort on diagnostics really pays off... instead of just firing the parts cannon at it.
@@michaelblacktree yeah true, I'm going to double check first to see if the actual controller is bad or a wheel sensor acting up. I read some forums saying that these parts are backwards compatible and some people were fitting units from later models, you think it's worth it or just grab the exact same one? Its an 01 car
I get the same impression. The unit I bought was IIRC from an '03 E46, and my car is an '01. I have the DSC disabled (because race car), but the ABS works.
Did you figure out your 2001 325i "pump going crazy and the car braking itself without me touching the brake, after that the dsc and abs lights went up" issue? i have same car and same problem. Codes on Cen-Tech scan tool are 5E43, 5E4F, 5E3C and 5E38. Any help/suggestions welcome

That's awesome! Are you going to take some videos? That would be fun to watch.
Thank you so much! I recently repaired my ABS module, and your video helped a lot!
Nice!
gotta love the 50s kid!
Yep! He inspired me to get an E46 in the first place.
very nice thoughtful and instructions, thanks a lot.
Its work !! Thanks from germany
You sir, are a genius! This is exactly what I needed!
