As a natural curly hair girl, I understand by having long curly hair it is A LOT of time and work to keep it manageable and now seeing this wonderful transformation I can see it in your face probably thinking wow my hair feels lighter and not weighing me down. I've watched you since I was 17 and I'm 24 now. You were my first curly youtuber and helped me learn how to take care of not only my hair but myself in general. I couldnt help but smile throughout the whole video, I wish you the best
I never clicked so fast omfg. I’m taking this as my sign. My hair is very thick & curly (i have polynesian hair) its straightened in my pic but it goes to my butt rn. And for the longest time I knew I wanted to cut it but was so scared bc my hair has always been my security blanket. And it would make it worse when people would compliment me on my hair cause it would make me second guess cutting it. You were one of the reasons I wanted to keep my hair long cause of how gorgeous yours was. But now that you cut it, I’m taking it as my sign.

Do it! As someone who has also had long hair my entire life (my pic is an old one 😳😅) I love my shorter hair! I didn’t go as short as Penny but I was seriously debating it. Currently just brushes my shoulders when wet. The best part of all is cutting your wash/style/dry time 10 fold. 😁
My tip (as she also mentioned in her video) look for inspiration on Pinterest. There are SOOO many inspiring pics and it helps to have the reference picture for your stylist to help you achieve your future look.
OML I know how you feel.. I'm of Pasifika background & the stigma of long hair as your crowning glory has prevented me from cutting my hair. I had the chop 3 years ago & the remarks I got.."we don't cut our hair, blah blah blah" now it's waist length and it's high maintenance.. I'm wanting to have it chopped again..
You should try it! Even if it's not a super short haircut, a change can be really good. I also felt the same thing about my hair (security blanket lol), but I loved it when I cut it. I'm now letting it grow a lil more to do ponytails and stuff
Im Indian and Indians are known for just having long thick hair, it was this standard of beauty. I've had long thick and curly hair too my butt and I have always wanted to cut it. I was always too scared, as thats what people complimented me on, it became my identity. After a year of contemplating I cut it into a bob and it is so liberating. Hair is hair, it grows back and it felt good to let go of this attachment to how I look to determine my worth, it's about how I feel

Same here, KeeKee!! I became the “real me” when it started to grow and my natural curl was allowed to come out and play😊‼️My features and head shape require longer hair and more height and width that comes from it.

PENNY IT LOOKS SO GOODDDD, literally cried during this. I’ve wanted to cut my hair for the longest time, I’m genderfluid and my hair gives me a lot of dysphoria most days, I just don’t know how to tell my parents.
If your not ready to tell your parents or are afraid of their reaction, just try and say you wanna try a more "adult" or "pixie" style.
Feminine or Masculine short styles are much more "acceptable" now, I'm sure they won't make a fuss is their child just wants to try a short style.
Ps. I think long hair can still work for an androgynous look, but do what will make you happiest.
