Saw a clip of this on the highlights reel and went searching for it. I was almost positive I didn't miss it. LRR produces my favorite Commander content online at this point so I keep an eye out. Glad to see it uploaded. Praise be the editors. Praise be the algorithm.

“How complicated do we want to get?”, “Go for it, we have three judges here!”. Plays Shares the Spoils and immediately screw things up by casting multiples spells from one spoils. It gets called out later, reread the card, and still get it wrong. Lesson learned here is magic is hard for everyone, including judges.
In their defense it is formatted absolutely terribly so it is incredibly easy to read it as the only restriction being that you have to play the cards from exile during your turn and that you must exile a card from your library after doing so.
it's so incredibly un-obvious that you can only cast one spell off it per turn, I literally didn't believe it until i checked gatherer. what a terribly formatted card lmao
@@jacefairis1289 looked up the card just now and honestly couldn‘t find that restriction, or is it that the Card says play A land or A spell exiled by it?
@@christopherfu2169 it is worded where the player may use A card from among share the spoils exiled cards, since it is worded as a singular card and not cards you may only use its effect once per turn

I feel like Ben was almost embarrassed at how much Rocco was popping off in comparison to the other three decks 😂

I'm missing something and I'll probably feel dumb when someone tells me but how did Rocco have trample in game 1 when Ben killed Nelson? I tried looking over the game state but I can't find the source of trample.
You’re right - at 52:00 he hesitates and almost equips it to the troll with trample so he probably got it confused later
Note, you can only cat one card from share the spoils on your turn. You cant keep going
Avarice Totem is an old, broken card my casual playgroup occasionally exploits.
What you do is make sure the opponent you want stuff from has no possible interactions, and you have 10 mana.
Step1: you activate the Totem, exchanging control of something of yours(usually a small creature/token) with the Totem. Hold priority.
Step2: while holding priority, you activate it again, exchanging something of an opponent's that you want, with the Avarice Totem.
Step3: when the abilities resolve, you first exchange what you wanted from the opponent, and they get Avarice Totem. Then, it's first activation resolves, giving you back Avarice Totem in exchange for that most likely useless card.
Janky, but bonkers card.
It does cost 11 mana total and it does require your opponent to not have 5 mana available (they can respond after the second activation resolves and before the first activation does).

speaking of pride month, Rocco is non-binary. Maybe not the best representation given that they had no impact on the story and barely showed up in cards, but hey maybe they'll be important the next time we visit new capena. Also, there's an atraxa kite in the background of the card art, which is just great.

For anyone wondering Share the spoils is only one card per turn. So sadly Ben cheated :( The gatherer ruling for it is pretty clear "Once a player plays a land or casts a spell from among the exiled cards, they can't play any more of those cards that turn. That is, it's one land or one spell, not one of each. "

These games were so fun, so much going on with each turn and the last turns of both were incredible!
I will say first things first amazing game love it to bits. Share the spoils is a personal favourite of mine.
However, share the spoils you can only play one card at a time with it. The ruling "Once a player plays a land or casts a spell from among the exiled cards, they can't play any more of those cards that turn."

I have my Xyris the Writhing Storm as a grouphug commander. I double mana, I give cards, I only attack with Xyris and Dragon Mage. All my snakes stay unless Xyris is hurt. It has once made my basics tap for 347million mana each, and dealt about 4000 damage with Burn at the Stake.

as per the algorithm's demands: My group-hug Phelddagrif deck is a delight to play. My favorite play with it was countering a spell with Perplexing Chimera, then using Fractured Identity *on* that chimera to give one to everyone; there were very few spells resolved as intended that game
Before the first turn took place, I already laughed my a** off!

I am wondering/ praying LRR will get a jump on the mtg streaming communities and do an archenemy lotr themed battle that a lot of people are secretly hoping for. weather its hope brew or new commander decks LRR are the only ones that'll make it worth watching.
