- You read that title right, a brand new Powerpuff Girls reboot has been confirmed by the man himself, Craig McCracken, and this video contains my initial thoughts on it. I'll be honest, there is a part of me that feels like the Powerpuff Girls should still just remain as one original series that ran on CN like 20 years ago, but honestly if the network HAS to bring it back then they may as well get the guy who originally made it work right?
So yeah, I'm a little excited about this series and I hope it's good. I elaborate on a lot of my hopes for the series in this video so be sure to watch the whole thing to get a good idea of where I stand. I'm more excited about this announcement than I EVER was regarding PPG 2016, so that's already a bonus, and I sincerely hope this new series is good.
I guess we'll wait and see! I'll try to keep you all updated as we get more big updates/announcements regarding the series. Oh, and I guess Foster's Home is coming back too but that's going to be a preschool show so I'm not really interested in that one, but hey!

Craig McCracken is one those creators that have never let me down with his series, I love every show he has made, so him making the new ppg reboot gives me hope that it will be good.

i just hope tom kane recovers from his stroke enough 2 play professor & him again. i didnt know he played him too when i was little & could never tell if him was a guy either cuz of his voice. ive been praying 4 him, just did last night & will again 2night. get well soon tom aka professor & him :(

I'm so excited as you are. I relived PPG on Netflix recently and my love for the show came back "HARDCORE". I've been a fan of Craig's since No Neck Joe for Sick and Twisted.

I still can’t believe it!!! I’m actually excited to see this because they’re apparently gonna be expanding upon the PPG world and if that means getting tons of juicy lore then I am HERE FOR IT!!! Although I still don’t wanna get my hope up too high because there’s still a chance this could flop but this looks promising!! Especially after the live action reboot fiasco. So yeah I’m hyped!!! 💗

Honestly the 2016 reboot set the bar so low that literally anything could be better.
(Except maybe a live action reboot but ya know 🙃)
Reboots in general are dime a dozen, the good ones are as they say back home(🇭🇺) rare like a White Raven!
If Mr. McCracken is involved in it, then there's an excellent chance that it's going to be promising.

Yeah, Tom Kane is officially retired from VA. His stroke literally put him out of commission sadly. It's pretty much a guarantee that they will get a new VA for the Professor

My two obscure things I hope for the new series.
- Give The Rowdyruff Boys unique traits. Flesh them out a little more! Show ways they’re similar to the girls but also individuals from each other.
- I’m super curious if any cut villains like The Powerpunk Girls will be animated. It be amazing if Craig brings back obscure characters and concepts like that.
agreed with this. the reboot completely cut the rowdyruffs along with a lot of other og villains, and the powerpunks never even got to be animated. i hope they take this into consideration

Not only would it be a funny reference but it would be cool to see how the 2016 cast could adapt to playing the villainous versions of the girls. I’ve only really seen Amanda Leighton in other work (Amphibia) so I’d be interested in seeing what they could do.
I hope they won't have to cut down on all the violence, one of the reasons I loved PPG was because there was such a great balance between cute and tough and you don't see many actual fights in cartoons nowadays unless they're aimed at adults. Either way, I'm very excited for this! Wonder if they'll bring in the PowerPunk girls this time around! Though one thing I'm a little upset about is that we get a preschool reboot for fosters home instead of a Wander over Yonder season 3, I would've much preferred that as the show left on a cliffhanger of sorts before getting cancelled, the fosters home reboot just seems unnecessary

It may be worth noting that Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe is best known for producing "The Amazing World of Gumball." If these reboots can strike a similar tonal balance to that show, sincere characters in a ludicrous setting and all, I'm in full support.

I hope we see more of the Rowdyruff boys in this new show, they're literally one of the most popular villans of the franchise (if not the most popular). And I'd be so happy to see them :).
They likely will put the rowdyruff boys a lot in the new series, considering how many people want them back..
Same, I’ve always loved them even from a conceptual level because I really liked how they uniquely paralleled the girls.

I tweeted about this yesterday, but from everything I've read, with Powerpuff, it's sounding more like a revival/sequel series than a reboot.
AND THATS GOOD!!!! the reboot sucked ass and butchered everyone, i loooove the idea of a revival!!!

I really do hope that the Rowdyruff Boys will come back, since they were my favourite characters back then, and that the Powerpunk Girls will also finally get to have their TV appearance debut.
I feel like Craig is doing this after seeing how terribly his series was being treated. That live action script was probably the final straw. I hope he actually enjoys working on this as well🙂
Just because there's a bad reboot of a good franchise it doesn't mean it gets desecrated. The original still exists, and intact!

Like I actually thought that moment in sonic 06 where she protects sonic from silver was kind of sweet. I suppose in a way without son-Amy she’s just the girl character.
@@erikbihari3625 Well, you could say that Craig got a Toriyama moment. Dragon Ball Evolution was SO BAD that he decided to make Battle of God. Seeing how they massacre PPG with the 2016 reboot AND the PPG live action script. I was like even the PPG anime respect OG PPG more than this shit.
Regarding the debate of reboot vs continuation, in the past Craig has made it clear that he doesn't like hard-reboots that erase the original continuity.
Also when someone asked about a potential reboot a while back he said this: "It wouldn't be a reboot I would just want to start making more"
This is the greatest news that could ever happen. I can tell that you are excited about it, and I am too because Mr. McCracken himself is going to be involved in it, which means that it's going to be excellent. Also, good to see your PPG avatar again!
Kid Cosmic has a good mix between action and comedy. It shows that Craig can still do the mix nowadays. He can probably get back into the groove with the new PPG show.
This is honestly a win for reboots or revivals in general. After seeing so many of my favorite franchises getting worse and ruined by Hollywood like the PPG, The Fairly OddParents, Winx Club, Fantastic Four, the live action Disney remakes, the DC movies, this was the news we all needed.

Winx club isn’t ruined, that LA version isn’t bad😅 but um if you enjoy the girls getting new clothes every season and don’t get bored of it then ok. At least give it a chance 🤷♀️

If there’s something I would like to see, it would be fleshing out the Rowdyruff Boys more. They are pretty popular villains and they could stand out a little more. Speaking of the boys, specifically for Boomer, I would like to see Ben Schwartz to voice him. Dude voiced a lot of rebooted blue characters out of…well, the blue. Dewey from the Ducktales reboot, Leo from ROTTMNT, and Sonic from the two sonic movies and the upcoming third movie. Can also be a good shakeup for him to voice an antagonist as well.

With Foster’s being a new cast, I could foresee a scenario where Madame Foster is the only carryover. Tom Kane’s stroke forced him into retirement, so I could see Mr Herriman being replaced by a similarly-functioning character. Had the group of imaginary friends remained the same I could’ve seen Eduardo being recast with a Latino VA

7:20 Regarding Tom Kane, my sister found out in a tweet on New Year's Eve 2020 that he suffered from a stroke that rendered him unable to do voice acting ever again. Terrible news to close a terrible year with, but I hope the guy is doing well with that aside.
As for what I thought when the news broke, I'm starting to get burnt out on seeing reboots and remakes everywhere and would prefer more original series and movies, but with Craig McCracken on board I'll give it a shot. The 2016 series and CW series proved that they barely or don't care to understand what made the 1998 series so beloved and the anime was actually pretty decent for having a different take on the mythos, so hopefully this iteration will be able to recapture lightning in a bottle.
And I don't know if the series was sold back to Craig McCracken, but if he has full control again, this is exciting for Gorillaz fans by proxy. If they want to bring Ace back, that'll at least take some of the hoops to jump through out of the equation.
Not sure what to make of the Foster's Home reboot or it being aimed at preschoolers since Foster's Home didn't really grab my attention like other shows, but hey, hope it turns out good. The more the merrier.

Except he's trying to fix what WASN'T broken: The original series. If he's advancing on that, it's gonna look reaply awkward retconning the timeline again.

I really hope this series is good. I’m so excited that The Powerpuff Girls is being Remade with Craig. I almost was a lost for words when I saw this announcement. Maybe more can be announced in San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

Expanding on the PPG world definitely caught my interest. Either expanding on the world itself or delving deeper into the characters, I'm totally down. I always been a sucker for lore, so this is exciting!

This franchise has been slowly spiraling downhill for the past 19 years, damn near everything about the PPGs has been crumbling to the ground since Season 5 of the original, and how ironic that it was because Craig wasn’t a part of it anymore, so the actual creator of the show coming back for this one is already a massive positive

Things i wish we get to see in this new reboot.
1.- Tons of action, and as violent as in the og show.
2.- Flesh out villains. The Rowdyruff Boys, The Gangreen Gang (with at least one reference to Gorillaz!), Sedusa, etc. I want them all to be more flesh out, the RRB didn't have a fully form personality, and the GGG were all really charismatic but they didn't get much spot light, specially not individually. So yeah, the og villains getting some spot light would be awesome! Also Him should be treated like the real treat that he is!
3.- Loreeeeee, and a balance between comedy, darkness and heartfelt moments.
4.- The iconic supporting characters like Miss. Bellum, The Narrator, etc, should all be back and in character, please don't make The Professor a complete asshole!
And well, expect the same thing that you do, 2d animated, not a preschoolers show, etc.
I know this is way to much to ask for but what can I say, I'm exited!
Oh, and the Foster Mansion For Imaginary Friends reboot sounds cool too, haha.
If they really are making another reboot I actually think it would be interesting if they revisited the idea of silicone. He was one of the few things from the 2016 reboot that really did hade potential and I believe he still has that potential if he’s written right
There's definitely potential there, but Craig recently confirmed in a tweet that he's "picking up where he left off" so to speak, so most likely he won't be pulling from the reboot much. Still, the potential is there!

I am still in shocked. Like I still can't believe that this is happening! I almost thought the PPG 2016 reboot would lower any chances of the original show getting another revial/reboot. At one point I almost declared the cw live action reboot to be a franchise killer. Oh boy I am glad I was wrong. Feeling confident, I'm sticking around for more news of Craig's PPG reboot!

I’ve been rewatching the OG series on HBO Max and looking back at all my old PPG drawings for the past month and a half so this news literally could not have come at a better time for me. Like omg, that show literally made my childhood and is the reason I got into art and drawing which led to so many other things (just look at my name lol, it was a reference to PPG).
I remember that by the time the 2016 reboot had come out I was already “moving on” from my time in the fandom and I had hoped the reboot back then would spark my interest in it again. Needless to say I was massively disappointed and couldn’t get past like, 4 episodes. The theme song is pretty much the only thing I like from PPG 2016, I think it’s cute.
I was so in shock at this news last night especially since CRAIG MCCRACKEN would be working on it that I was kinda just like a zombie for the rest of the night because I couldn’t believe it.

While both shows are exciting, I'm actually more excited to see the Foster's reboot despite it being for preschooler, but that's just because I'm still shaky from the 2016 reboot, but I definitely still have faith in Craig McCracken and the new Powerpuff Show.

I'm honestly really happy for you. This is exciting. There were people on tweets saying it's gonna be awful even with the creator, and it's like. That makes no sense, and as well with preschool series like Bluey being enjoyable for adults as well, Foster Home being a preschool series does not matter until we see it. I'm hoping that they'll shed more light on "The Powerpunk Girls." It was originally going to be a special episode, BUT, they were working on the PPG movie. Yeah, it ended up in the comics but boy I'd love to see it animated.
This is how i would Create My PPG Reboot:
1) Have a Similar animation Style Like PowerPuff Girls Z.
2) If is Possible, Hire Back the Original Series Writters SPECIALLY The Ones Who Made Seasons 1-4
(Im gonna Get hated for this)
3) Add A Character similar to Bliss (And Yea i Know that the 99% Of the Fandom Hates Her but Just because she's a Terrible Character doesn't make her irreparable, So) in my Version She's Like Zero From MegaMan X. Basically Created to Destroy the Girls For Good But After A Time She Becomes a Ally.

I am hyped more than ever! I can't believe this is happening! I'm trying to not keep my hopes up but I can't help it! I'm on my knees begging they bring back the og va's for the girls!
Although I am glad that Regular show got a good ending, it would be kinda cool to see a miniseries where we see the characters lives after the events of the finale. Maybe have the duo still occasionally goof off but still keep their maturity.
Before the 2016 reboot I would watch every episode with rrb over and over and when the 2016 reboot came out it didn't even show it. They were some of my favorite characters so I hope this reboot makes up for it.

It’s ironic that the year started with bad entertainment news with Betty White passing away and Joe Gatto leaving Impractical Jokers, and now by the middle of the year, the Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends news came out! This is now giving me more inspiration to write!!!
Edit 2: I hope the CW “reboot” is canceled now that Craig McCracken is making a PPG reboot.

I had the exact same reaction as you! I was so damn excited when I heard! Going "Oh my god!!!!" And all that. I trust Craig! He's still got it if Kid Cosmic is anything to go by. So I think he'll) be able to make this a success, I believe!

As someone who got back into the show late last year, this is a very welcome surprise.
Bliss is such a cool concept executed horribly, I hope at least her or Bunny get more prominence in this. If it's Bliss, then a rewrite is needed

Okay, since the Original creator is working on those reboots they will probably turn out good, right? But still… I'm so sick of reboots… everything gets a reboot now… We have another upcoming reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, a Darkwing Duck reboot, Tiny Toons Adventure, revivals of Futurama and King of the Hill, a reboot for Daria and Monster High, and now we can add Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home to the pile. Seriously, has the animation industry really run out of ideas, or are studios way too scared in taking risks?
they haven't run out of ideas quite yet, they're scared of risks and know nostalgia will pull (at least some) ppl in. same reason disney keeps remaking their movies

Well, this is surprising! It has been years since we had an actual Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home reboot made by the original creator. If it does eventually get made, I just hope it has the charm, great humor, and creativity of the original shows. Hoping and praying that it is actually good!

10:23 I figured Craig was talking about Foster's, I'm 100% sure that at least Frankie will be back. I can see them aging her up and retiring Madame Foster so they won't have to recast Mr. Herriman and then can have Ed, Wilt and Coco there if they're still around. Still I hope Craig can pull a Spielberg like he did with the Animaniacs reboot and bring back the originals. Tara Strong liked my tweet that you showed, so there's a small chance maybe she knows something I don't.
And let's just hope that they'll find a new VA for Professor Utotium and HIM and he'll be good like tom kane

I actually got floored when I heard PPG was coming back (albeit from Vailskibum94 and I had to look it up to see if it was real.) Finally, the girls return in their original forms (especially Bubbles, who took the biggest nosedive and was my favorite in the original. I miss when she was basically Daizy from Wow Wow Wubbzy.) Craig is coming back and if Kid Cosmic is anything to go by, this is going to be on the same level, which is going to be the best show (other than KC or Hilda) in a long tine.
